Virus Scan for Aneesoft YouTube Converter

Catherine McClarey There's no descriptive text to give any details on what this does. Rather than using this to convert videos downloaded from YouTube to other formats, I would like this to be something that could convert videos I wished to upload to YouTube to other formats. (For example, I currently convert everything to FLV format before uploading - for the sake of small file sizes and quick upload times. However, I understand that iOS devices can't display Flash videos (including FLVs), so maybe I should convert my videos into another format that's more widely viewable, but still has the small file sizes and quick upload times I like.)

Frank Stephens Catherine McClarey, you should upload videos to YouTube in their original format and resolution, unless that would take too long. YouTube converts the videos into standard YouTube formats and resolutions, compatible with all devices that are capable of displaying YouTube videos. Upon playback, YouTube will normally select a resolution that fits the display window, but the viewing user can select a different resolution.

Catherine McClarey It's that "unless that would take too long" issue that defines why I convert my recordings to FLV before uploading. This is also a big part of why I'm always on the lookout for gameplay video capture/screencasting software (& codecs) which are not only easy to use while capturing game audio & narration simultaneously, but also compress recordings while they record - because I'd ideally like to be able to upload what I've recorded without converting first (as well as save space on my computer's hard drive). It doesn't sound like Aneesoft YouTube Converter is intended to help with those purposes - which doesn't make it a bad product, just not one that would be worth my while to download myself.

Catherine McClarey William, I'd check other review sources on this product and its publisher to confirm or refute the WOT consensus before deciding to shun it. Some of the conservative websites that I visit & know to be trustworthy have received poor WOT scores, apparently based on politically-motivated ratings by visitors who don't share those sites' political or philosophical viewpoints. So, a poor WOT rating can be a useful warning flag, but shouldn't be considered a deal-breaker by itself.

Catherine McClarey I just Googled "Aneesoft YouTube Converter review", but didn't come up with any reviews - just one site with user ratings. Googling "Aneesoft review" comes up with more reviews for other Aneesoft products (although not this one), which might at least give an idea of how good Aneesoft products are overall. Perhaps people who have already used this product can comment on their experience here at BDJ?

William Tattors Folks, I am not trying to be the fly in the ointment; but, with plenty of products in the marketplace that perform similar functions, just why is this a contender? Free often has strings; are there any? And a huge red flag is when a previous non poster. Son Nguyen, makes a "i like this software" statement. WT?, tell me more, is this version 3 better, etc., It seems that the software junkies, as myself, should benefit as a community and scrub offerings for the benefit of the entirety. Someone, make me a believer, because my default is as a non believer; even with FREE.

Googled "Aneesoft review" and found some reviews of other Aneesoft products, which might at least give an idea of the overall quality of Aneesoft products. Will have to check the SiteAdvisor.com discussion myself.

William Tattors Don't get me wrong , I fully support lean and innovative startups with shallow histories. This company has lots of products and pr releases; a stark contrast to entrepreneurial developers who attend to us customers on these boards on the BIG bdj launch. Catherine McClarey William, in regard to the SiteAdvisor.com discussion alleging malware concerns at the Aneesoft site, I'd also check the user forums for whichever antivirus software you're using (Avast, in my case), as I trust the information on the Avast forums more than I would a general Google search in regard to a software product.

That said, I will probably not be downloading this product myself. Have no idea of what its quality might be compared to similar products from elsewhere - it's just that I'm more interested in something to convert videos being uploaded to YouTube, not downloaded from YouTube, and this product doesn't seem to do that.

Frank Stephens William Tattors, no need to flood BDJ with comments about malware, BDJ does not host such. You're supposed to be running good security software. Of greater concern to me, neither BDJ nor any other site checks for installation damage, even Microsoft can't install their own products without damage. Converters can damage your codecs, although this one probably doesn't, I'm not going to test it, which involves installing into a virtual machine while tracing the installation. Again, I'm not going to accuse Aneesoft of anything without checking, but almost all converters violate the licensing of open-source software such as ffmpeg. I don't purchase from developers who try to profit from the hard work of open-source developers, but this offering is free today.

William Tattors Frank, I sure did not intend to "flood" what seemed to be a vacant place today.... But hey, my apology, to you. Have at it. To me, it seems my points were valid concerns. I really do not believe any free comes without a price. But hey, I am old school. Interesting ,you fail to address the lack of user forum and other point; but highlite the obvious "free", a bit condescending. And in the name of wholesome bantor; do you work for bdj or aneesoft? or just make it a practice of reiterating the redundant? Honestly, look at the lack of postings..... has anyone been pushed aside or been provocative? I do not think so. Respectfully, Bill

Phinex Aneesoft Guys, thanks for the feedback, and suggestions you’ve provided. It has been very helpful to us on how we can improve future versions of YouTube Converter. Here’s the list of top things we learned from you:

1. On the product description: This soft Do supports importing and converting local files such as FLV, F4V, MP4, WEBM to common video/audio formats MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WMV, 3GP, MP3, AAC, WMA etc. Maybe this http://www.aneesoft.com/w...html#specs tech specs chart will help understand.

2. About the bad WOT rating and rare google reviews: As we seldom promote our website from these aspects, this may cause little or no reviews on it, in future, we'll expose and promote our website from these aspects.

3. On the site security issue, we assure you that our site and products are definitely safe. We will contact WOT and SiteAdvisor.com to solve the low rating, and will invite high-profile assessment sites to evaluate our products and site.

As this is the first time to give away our YouTube Converter here, we really hope it will help more people on downloading&convertting YouTube videos. And thanks again for your support.

Jim Buchanan Have to back-up here for a bit. I am enjoying these programs so much I thought I'd get my wife to join with her computer so she could take advantage of some of these as well. My point? For a program like this I was hoping that all that would need to be done is a couple clicks and it would work. Such as start watching a video, press a button to download it, and presto it would download it. However, there is no "toolbar" button included for this. As my wife is not the best at figuring out these things, then it seems that I will have to uninstall it from her computer. For me, I like it. I do wish there was a button like the 'DownloadHelper' Firefox plug-in. Now will it work better with conversion? Here's hoping.

DiggerP Hi,
Despite a few somewhat negative comments, I'd like to relate my own experience.
This is a very nice program. Clean interface and easy to navigate buttons.
Performed flawlessly for me ,whether conversion of a local
file or via an YouTube URL.
eg. A 30 MB FLV file downloaded and converted to MP4 ,was done in about 2 min.
I like the preview feature too.
However ,from the comments it clearly shows that people have different preferences.

I don't like toolbars on my browsers ,so this program fits my bill.
To be honest ,I find the original price a bit steep for this type of software, but at a lower price or free ,as right now, it's a very nice
addition to my "toolbox" :)

Ian Marks Well, it seems no one from Aneesoft has chimed in with a solution. In the meantime I took one of the commenters' suggestion and added the "DownloadHelper" extension to my Firefox. Within two minutes I was downloading YouTube videos without the need for an additional program, and the playback quality is great. I've been watching them on my "wimpy" computer at a fairly small size, but I'm looking forward to trying it on my "good" computer - the one with the faster processor, better graphics, and bigger screen - which should be able to handle full-screen playback. Sorry to say that Aneesoft's YouTube Convertor program seems to have lost out here. Here's hoping they'll offer something better in the near future.

Nov 11 2012 at 12:19pm Copy Link

0

DiggerP @ Ian Marks,

There is no solution. Aneesoft YouTube Converter is a program in itself ,not a browser add-on or plugin.
Hence it's not browser specific, which for me is a plus ,but maybe for others a deterrent ;)

I think you're lucky with the Download helper. There are lots of complaints on their forum about conversions etc.
If this is the site you got it from http://www.downloadhelper.net/
Check the forums eg http://forum.downloadhelper.net/forum/3

There are several problems related to browser add-ons or plugins, especially with Firefox.
More often than not they won't work if FF gets updated and if the plugin author doesn't update ,which is often the case ,the plugin becomes useless.
But more power to you if it works for you.

I saw enough on that site not to bother with it ,considering all the complaints and the plugin being basically outdated.

To each his own ,but don't bash a program because it's different.

Louis H Seriously folks... Please consider giving BDJ and, (as far as I am concerned, for the time being, until such time as actual factual information proves otherwise), the Vendor as well, the benefit of the doubt here. I have been around here for 3 and a half years and every time there has been a problem, they fix it and make good for those who lost out on a deal because of something that went wrong with the system on their end.

I have nothing but trust for the folks here at BDJ for making every honest effort on their part to get these deals up and running with a minimum of snags and problems.

Stuff Happens, and this being the Internet, it happens more than we might like, but please give the folks at BDJ (and the Vendor) a chance to work things out. Please refrain from aiming your frustration towards them. Seriously. I like the folks at BDJ. I have never met them but they have saved me a LOT of money over the past 3 and a half years. Many great deals. Many great FREE deals. Some of those deals had snags, but BDJ has always made good on their end of things.

We live in a world where there are many different time zones and any number of things that can happen on the spur of a moment to make it difficult if not impossible for a Vendor to get online quickly. All i would ask is for folks to step back and WAIT to find out WHY the problem has occurred before rushing to judgement about the moral character of either the folks at BDJ or the Vendor.

Thanks for giving this request consideration.

P.S. I have jumped to more than one conclusion over the years, myself, and ended up being wrong in my rush to judgement. That is why I try to choose a response that waits until it gets more accurate information before passing judgement. So thanks to Nico and the gang for working on this one to get it up and running when they can.

Once they see enough "Likes", they figure they can sell it rather than give it away for free. I've bought stuff via Bitsdujour in the past but never again after they pulled this stunt.

Alexander Bokovikov To Constantin,

Your "Frequently Bought Together" contains _all_ products of the developer, whereas it should contain _all_but_current_ products. Otherwise it leads to a misunderstanding. It's not clear that the same product simply displayed twice. Your visitor maight believe that these are different products.

Constantin Florea @Alexander Bokovikov - Thanks for letting us know about this. This is a bug and we will fix it as soon as possible.

Mary Wilson I was excited about this offer on Aneesoft Total Media Converter for Windows as I was looking for something that could convert files. Downloading it, I went to try it with a file I must convert. Unfortunately, I will not be able to use it due to the fact that I must WEBM file. Going back, I reread the list of what it converts and found that it could not. I like the problem but can not get it due to this problem. Hopefully, I will eventually be able to get what I need. I will be getting the YouTube downloader which I do like and can use.

peter schleifer Just my 2c: Meindert: Why complain your payment failed since today you'll get it for free?

Mathieu: C'est entièrement gratuit pour votre beau Mac, de même !

Mary: That's a little bit unjust, let me explain: As the unavoidable CNet review (and which in most cases is the only one you get on what was called "shareware" in the ancient times, i.e. software costing 2-digit, not 3- or 4-digit dollar amounts) correctly states, paid downloaders fall, grosso modo, in two categories: Those that do many conversions, and those that download from a broad variety of sites.

Aneesoft YT Converters falls in the latter category, i.e. whilst doing many conversions, too, it specializes in getting content from more sites than do many competitors, and for me, that's a very good thing indeed!

As for webm, I can say that some months, I systematically choose this format, whenever available, when I download from YT, it's the best available format there: Best music quality, and even less size than their corresponding high quality mp4 formats; I do this via FF and some FF download add-in, and I am more than pleased with this format which is rather new for me (and no problem then to play those vids, e.g. with the free VLC, and other free players).

So if you say Aneesoft YT Conververter does not "do" this format (but there might be a difference between "downloading in" and "converting to", right?), I will continue to download YT videos my current way, but I'm thankful to now have Aneesoft YT Converter, too, and for free, in order to download from sites I haven't been able to download from up to now, and this problem has been recurring here and there, and precisely for videos I would have been very much interested in!

So as I see it, this free offer today is a really good one indeed.

Edward Blais Dear Constantin,
I Uninstalled the program from my computer using Revo Uninstaller Pro. Then Installed it again. I the help section, I get Only 3 choices:
Help, Feedback and Support, and About. Nothing more.
However, when it started up, at the very top, above Online Files, and Local Files, Right above that it states: Aneesoft YouTube Converter(Registered).
So is this automatically registered even though I Did Not Enter the Code Sent?
As I stated above, under the Help section, there is Nothing There where it says register. Any Help is appreciated. Once again, thank you for the Prgram.

Constantin Florea @Edward Blais - The application is registered in your case. I get the exact menu options (under Help) after registering it:
- Help
- Feedback and Support
- About

The title is "Aneesoft Youtube Converter(Registered)"

Jerry S Wel, that was a short romance. Donloaded the trial. Plugged in a couple of \YouTube URLs that were playing successfully using the menu PASTE commands - and was promptly told the URLs are "illegal". If there's a wrorkaround, let me know. Otherweise this is a no go.

Quill Pen Pretty frustrated with this. We downloaded this once before, either from another giveaway site or from BITS and it never worked. No matter what Youtube we chose, we got an error saying something like the video URL was bad or was redirected. (forgot exact wording)
We did a thorough REVO uninstall of that before downloading and installing it from today's Bits Dealie. Odd that it installed okay BUT says it's registered even though I haven't even opened my email to see about a registration code. Does that mean even Revo didn't find a hidden registry entry from the last install. IMHO that's BAD FORM since software should clean itself up completely or at least not hide things from other uninstallers. Anyway, the old "redirected URL" error's no longer showing, but after I add a Youtube URL (anything from short URL to one that contains various appends such as "/watch") and click CONVERT (that button should be labeled DOWNLOAD, not an unintuitive word like CONVERT) it reacts for about a half a second with "Starting Download" but then STATUS reverts to PAUSE Download and the timer disappears. Giving up and uninstalling.

@John Campbell, today's version is - 3.0.0.0

smaragdus I have purchased Aneesoft YouTube Converter some time ago and I am not satisfied with it at all- it is no longer updated and it cannot handle HTTPS- I contacted the publisher, I got an answer that the problem would be fixed but after more than six months there is no fix and no new release.

Rob User Here we go again with free software offers, if it's not loaded with malware/spyware or trojans it doesn't work.
Anyone else having problems with this software?
I have downloaded, installed and registered the software for Windows (7 32bit)

I have now tried 6 different YouTube videos and every single one returns the warning window "The URL ........... is illegal", with an option to click Yes or No. Both options do the same thing, they close the window.

I have tried my own Youtube video, with just my voice and my video footage, just in case there was some music copyright check before downloading but no, exactly the same problem. It seems my URL and my video is also illegal !!!

I tried removing the http:// part of the web address but the same problem remains.

What exactly is the point of this software?

Unless it is just an exercise to get us to 'Like' their Facebook page prior to downloading.

I have put in a support ticket so will respond here if we get this sorted, but it feels like another 'still in beta' to me.

Jan 27 2015 at 6:06am Copy Link

smaragdus @Rob User
It is not a beta but is no longer maintained, it seems the product is a reseller.
It might work if you remove the (S) from HTTPS YouTube addresses (at least this was a workaround to make it work some six months ago when I notified the developer about the problem)- Aneesoft YouTube Converter simply cannot parse HTTPS (HTTP Secure) addresses.

Maestro I've always used an extension for Firefox called Download Youtube Videos as MP4. It works fine, but can't download the higher resolutions (tops out at 720p on most videos) because of how Youtube works. I was hoping this giveaway might work for 1080p and up, but appears not. Bummer.

Jan 27 2015 at 6:46am Copy Link

2

Rob User @ smaragdus Many thanks for this!
Yes that definitely does the trick on my own video, will try it on others later.
Why put it on offer here when it is not completely working, especially when there is a strong suggestion that this is usually $24.99?
I (as you must have been) would be well hacked-off buying into software that isn't up to recent web specification i.e. HTTPS URL's
It also doesn't do Bits Du Jour any favours regarding their credibility, surely someone there checks the software before launching it as part of "another great deal"
I appreciate you cannot expect much from freebie's but this is not a freebie......theoretically!

Doug Atkinson I downloaded the demo and at first had the same problem. My default for a Rhett & Link video had "https://" as the header. I removed the "s" (http://) and it worked. Apparently it doesn't work with secure HTTP connections, and as pointed out, doesn't like it without the http:// in the front. I tried it for a 2nd video, and it worked as well.

A more clear error message would be helpful.

Also, it is a bit of a pain having to copy a URL and then pasting into this app, but it does work.

Thanks again, Bitsdujour and Aneesoft!

Software Babe STANDALONE CONVERTER TOOLS:
XMedia Recode 3.2.1.3.is fabulous. So, is Video to Video. These apps not only convert, but they split, join, and allow you to sync audio with video and other options that will improve your converted video and/or audio file.

I would suggest that if you use Firefox, just go to their add-ons section at firefox.com and download some of their downloader tools that also have converters in them. This is what I use: 1-Click YouTube Video Downloader OR YouTube Enhancer Plus 3.3.4.
