Amit I would like to purchase the license, but does it have both differential and incremental imaging ? and all features error free of both differential and incremental. I have seen lot of praise of the software but want to get clarified on these two.

Also, can anyone guide me to know (I am new to both differential and incr), which imaging is best and more commonly used - differential, or is incremental more commonly used by people. I would like to keep the total disk usage of harddrive low, (only image diff or incr every few days, say four) and a full backup every fortnight/monthly. The backup time to make image/performance when imaging are not a concern as imaging would be done every four days only, and that too not a full image, but only either of smaller ones.
Thanks bitsters and Aomei too.

S G I have used Aomei Backupper and it is very good.

However, I would recommend the paid version of this, since the free version being offered here is can only be installed on the day of the offer.

Imaging software must often be installed again if you have a crash and actually need to use the software.

Seems like a poor choice of terms for the promotion.

YURY KUZMIN AOMEI Backupper Professional is one of the best backup programs. Constantly give free promotions. And to make localization to any language can any newcomer. Just a text file en.txt to do the translation, and throw in a folder with the replacement.

Frank User S.G. Yes that limiting of use to day of install is deal breaker. I mean really, what if drive installed to gets banged and reinstalled says Sorry. Left with good backups and no delivery method. Has to be free to use anytime w/ serial.
For now sticking with free Macrium Reflect.
Just curious if Aomei also requires making a DVD/USB boot for recovery?

William Todd I haven't used Backupper much, but from what I've seen it's a respectable product offering some features which others don't (especially in its free version). I'm not sure the concerns expressed here are very valid, since 1) the free version actually covers most of what the Pro version does and in particular can restore backup images made by the Pro version and 2) both versions allow you to create bootable CDs, DVDs, or thumb drives which also support most of the features of the Pro version (i.e., you really don't have to worry all that much about not being able to reinstall the Pro version should you lose it).

Amit Thanks Ian Sample. But can anyone clear to me the little difference between differential and incremental, and which is best for the scenario as i have said before, backing a full image every month orso and little adding to that by incremental or differential. Then the which these of is preferred ? And most used for occupying lesser harddrive for backups. Schedule being same - every 4 days and then full only every month or likewise. Thanks for guidance.

TESS273 @Amit,

Which is better between Incre and Diff is hard to say. Both of them are useful in some cases and it's up to you.

The difference between Incre and Diff is,

Data(A) --- Initial Backup(1)
Data(B) is added. So Data is A+B. --- Backup(2)/// Both of them are same quad ad hoc.
Data(C) is added. So Data is A+B+C --- Backup(3)

The base backup of Differential is INITIAL Backup.
The base backup of Incremental is PREVIOUS Backup.

Second backup data is B.
If the third backup is Diff, backup data is B+C.
If the third backup is Incre backup data is C.

Data(D) is added. Backup.
You can answer the difference now? :p

The difference between two has relevance to recovery, too.

In case of recovery Data(D),
although Differential Backup need (1)(4) backup, Incremental Backup needs (1)(2)(3)(4) all of them.

Frank User Amit for me I tried both diff & incremental initially. After awhile I'd forget the diffs between them & found they took a while to run. So for Macrium Reflect I just do the full deal - disk image (boot partition & C:) to D:
Goes fast to do that, bit longer to restore if needed. Doing a simple flash Create within Win 10 every other day rarely will need to re-install a full Image made weekly.
Maybe just me but I ran a test Image of AOMEI and it started off saying 16 mins to backup my 160 SSD boot drive. Then it got to only 13% done and saying 3 mins left. Well screw this I said & cancelled out.
It does include method to create a Restore boot DVD, USB type that most of these use (Macrium included).
fwiw years ago I used Macrium to move entire hard drive to new SSD and that went prefect. No matter what use get a routine and plan for disaster. Cloud helps but be sure can also rebuild in a hurry locally. Redoing Win 10 x64 doesn't look like fun with all the pushed updates.

S G William Todd-

Possibly the free version can allow you to restore the "free" professional backup files, but the point of these programs is usually to create a regular process and follow it.

If you plan to just backup using the "free" professional here today, then have a problem and restore with the true free product, you may have the following issues:

a) It may not work and that is a lousy time to find that out. The rule is always restore with the same program and version for the most probable success chance.

b) It may work, but you no longer have the "free" pro version on your system. So you may now have to deal with a new backup process, since free version may not have the features you planned to use.

My opinion is to either use the paid pro version (so you get the features and it is repeatable) or just go with the normally free version.

Just my 2 cents.

William Todd I was responding specifically to the suggestions here that inability to reinstall the giveaway Pro version could leave you up the creek when you needed to perform a restore. Not only does the ability to create a bootable CD/DVD/flash drive eliminate that issue but the suggestion that the 'Standard' (free) version (which I regularly obtain along with the Pro version when taking advantage of these giveaways) would be incompatible with the same version of the Pro product seems far-fetched to me. In any event, it's easy enough to avoid that issue by using the Standard version for your backups as in fact the Standard (free) version is sufficient for most needs. Have you actually checked the differences between it and the Pro version? Unless you're committed to a process based on command-line procedures or performing image merges as part of the process rather than only on an occasional basis there really isn't much.

(Apologies if this double-posts: I had NoScript enabled on the first try and wasn't sure that it had made it.)

William Todd Partition your drive before installing WIndows (not leaving any unpartitioned space at the start of the disk), set the partition in which you wish to install Windows to be the 'active' partition (the one that gets booted), then during installation tell Windows to install itself there (or possibly elsewhere if you're setting up a multi-boot system, but it doesn't sound as if you are).

if you're still not sure which button will boot into the Bios, simply do a Google search for your computer models manufacture name along with how to boot into bios.

Constantin Florea @Christopher J. Spilker, I have identified your purchase. It was made using an email address which had an extra "o" in it, so instead of christopher..... the incorrect email address was: christoopher.......

This usually happens when you want to participate in a BitsDuJour promotion which requires to be signed in and you type your email address incorrectly. If you would first login and then participate in the promotion, the issue will not happen. Going forward I suggest logging out of the account associated with the christoopher....... email address and then login again using the account associated with the christopher....... email address:
http://www.bitsdujour.com.../purchases

Also, I migrated all purchases from the account associated with the incorrect email address to the account associated with the correct email address and then I have resent you the receipt email.

Matt D´mon I have Windows 8 and to create the Windows PE I have to download a Windows ADK 2GB+ ISO image! That shouldn´t be necessary, especially when other products, like Acronis, can make an ISO without downloading anything else.
Is the Linux one the same thing?

William Todd We certainly didn't have to download anything significant to create Backupper 2.x WinPE disks on our Win8 systems, but my vague recollection is that some systems don't include all the necessary components and that those are the ones where you need to download the Win ADK. So: have you actually verified that Acronis will do this in your current Win8 environment and that AOMEI will not?

R Master I purchased this in the previous version the last go-round here at Bits du Jour, and never used it. Then last week, I bought an SSD to replace my slower hard drive and the migration software that came with the SSD did not work, giving me a dll error after 4 different install attempts.

I went to my disk tools toolbox, saw the Aomei shortcut and started it up. First try, it worked on my backup HDD and also on the SSD. Gotta love that. I usually do not give glowing reviews, but $19 to avoid HDD and partition hell is a no-brainer.

Giving credit where credit is due, it works and was simple and intuitive. I'm even going to upgrade the version I've got to be ready for the next time. If Aomei Backup is as good as their partition program, it will be worth the money.

BitBucket @ S.G. and Frank User.

The software allows you to create either a WinPE or a Linux based recovery disk at time of installation, and you should do this with ANY recovery software!

So your complaints about this being "install today only" making the program useless are wrong.

Quote from website: "Make Windows PE & Linux bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive. It can be useful to recover if your computer cannot boot. Support manually add additional drivers when create Windows PE bootable media."

The website say the program allows you to restore to dissimilar hardware which is interesting if true. I'm not sure if the Linux restore disk can do that.

S G BitBucket-

Even with pre-environment disk already made, software under these conditions often require re-registration once the system is restored. That is something you wont be able to do.

I have not tried with this version of the software, so I may be wrong, but it seems like a red flag to me.

By the way, I do not think the program is useless with this limitation... just that the free version, which seems like it has most of the features, would be preferable if you do not want to spend any money. It seems using the free version is a smarter bet to make sure you can restore and resume your life if a problem requires this programs usage.

True, it may work as you say... although I doubt it would restore to dissimilar hardware and work properly.

Frederick Mills I find a contradiction in the following fine print statements:

a) AOMEI Backupper Professional is licensed per computer, and not per user.
b) Each license allows installation on all owned computers, and AOMEI Backupper Professional may be used at exactly the same time on each of them.
c)Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed.

I own 3 computers, b) tells me I only need 1 license. a) and c) tell me I need multiple license. Which is correct?

Please advise as quickly as possible.

So, we have at least 3 complaints about the same ERROR and no answer, yet. At least two of us have had our older version that worked destroyed. Kinda not fair. I only have a limited window of opportunity today, so I hope they can resolve and respond soon.

Robert Crombie If any of you are using this program for image backups (as distinct from file backups), and you are using "differential and incremental. backups", here is my advice - Don't do it

Use 'KISS' and just do frequent image backups, preferably to alternate 3.5" external drives. By alternating the drive each night, you are covered if one of them dies (and they do die).

If I had an image, and someone offered to pay me to mess with my images by doing "differential and incremental backups". I would refuse.

Thanks Aomei for the nice giveaway,
Rob
PS I tried making a PE image in my XP Pro, and it failed with "Process failed" message. (I already have AIK installed)
I followed the instructions to read the FAQ, and it suggested using

Rob User Hello, interesting watching the video tutorial.

A tip to the video producer, if you are going to narrate a tutorial video, it is much less distracting when you use none-vocal backing tracks, the voice over trying to explain how to use this software is almost lost behind the backing track vocals that you have chosen.

The backing track is also too loud, turn it down and use an instrumental !

I trust you have copyright clearance to use the track 'Thank You' by Dido?

YouTube are usually pretty good at whipping peoples ass for using copyrighted material to enhance a video without permission.

As they say, no such thing as a free lunch........

Jackie Kerouac I'm also getting the "Out of string range" error message. I tried to uninstall version 2.5, I managed to do it... in part. Then I tried to install v 3.1, it didn't allow me to do it.

Upon trying to uninstall v 2.5, I got an error message that the file was used by another program, which is not true. I used Lasso to locate the culprit but couldn't find it. Even trying to manually erased the 2.5 folder didn't work.

I shut my computer, and upon re-opening it, I got a VERY rare message from Win 8.1 PRO, that my system was corrupted, and I had to repair it. A good thing I had previously installed Paragon Rescue Kit, otherwise I would had to go back to factory reinstall, and loose all my programs.

As much as I would love to install Backupper 3.1, it's not worth the trouble to do so, especially that no one from the company responded to the error message that many experienced here.

I'll try to find a better program... any suggestions from you guys and gals?

BitBucket It does state in the requirements that it will delete old versions. I suggest deleting your previous version using the old version's uninstall facility, then reboot and try to install the 3.1 version.

That worked for me and got rid of the "string" error.

Amir Gol I just got the same problem as Jackie had: Not only had the installation failed after removing the older version of the program - that, while inconvenient, I can accept - but when I tried to reboot my computer afterward, Windows was unable to load! Now this is inexcusable. Something is very wrong here.

Good thing I had a recent restore point available.

A Salam @ BitBucket, Amir Gol, Peter User & Quill Pen: Thank you all for your help, I am confirming that problem solved as follow:
Uninstall first the old version using the uninstall program that comes with it. Restart your computer, use the downloaded program to install Version 3.1. It worked fine with one computer and I will try the other now. Please make sure to create a restore point before you do it, just in case.
A word to the AOMEI: You have a good name, you design good software and we are grateful for your offer, but when your software damages the same computer it suppose to save while installed leaves us with a very bad image about the company, especially that our calls for help went unanswered, while you were responding to registration issues, this was unfair and damaging to your image and makes us very careful trying any new programs you offer. I hope someone would acknowledge this issue confirming that it was not intentional, for the protection of your good image.

William Green So what's the deal? The email I received said Pro version + free lifetime upgrade for 2 PCs - $34.30. I click the link and it says $39. I then click the Buy link and it says $49.

Constantin Florea @William Green, Apologies about the issue. The deal you mention is a disabled EveryDay deal (since September 2015). The actual issue is that our system which pushes EveryDay deals into the daily deal email does not make a difference between disabled EveryDay deals and active EveryDay deals. We are aware of the issue and have it logged in our Issue Tracker to be fixed.

Constantin Florea @William Green, I am sorry for the confusion regarding this. The correct title of this promotion page should be:
"AOMEI Backupper Pro"
because $39.00 is the price of the product without Lifetime Upgrades.

We currently do not have a discounted promotion for this product. $39.00 is the regular price which is present on the product site.

When we disabled the EveryDay deal, we should have updated the title as well to "AOMEI Backupper Pro" but it seems we missed this.

Again, I want to apologize about all the confusion created in this case.

Acronis sometimes not restoring PC from their own backup
Acronis not supports Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service, so backup times is realy much slowest. Exsaple - Acronis backup time - 12 hours, AOMEI only 3 hour.

AOMEI not need boot disk if restoring boot partition - Acronis always need booting from USB or CD/DVD

Acronis - horrible interface, AOMEI - nice, compact, userfriendly interface
EASEUS - failed in restoring... test it too

Serious Noize If I purchase this here would it be any different than purchasing it from AOMEI? And by that I mean, if you purchase it from AOMEI then it says lifetime updates. But what happens if your hard drive crashes and you have to replace it. Even though you are using the same PC with the same MAC Code? Or what happens if you decide to upgrade your PC?

I think the LIFETIME license needs to be better clarified.

Whatever the outcome. AOMEI is the best backup software there is plain and simple. It has saved my Data many times over using the free and giveaway versions in the past.

My recommendations would be if you don't have external hard drive : "GET ONE!!!" and make an IMAGE backup with AOMEI Backupper and save it to that external HARD DRIVE and keep that EXTERNAL hard drive DISCONNECTED from your PC. Also spend a few bucks on a USB Flash drive or CD/DVD to make a recovery disc so you can launch the program from boot if needed.

This is really great software, IT WORKS! IT HELPS, IT PROTECTS! Although my questions on purchasing are worse case schenario situations I guess, but when you ask about purchasing a recovery software those type of situations should be address. What if I upgrade my PC one week after purchasing to a new PC?

IF it's hardwired to ONCE PC/HARDRIVE only and can't restore to a new hard drive then I don't consider that a lifetime license.

Just pointing out a few thoughts here, because I am seriously considering purchasing this one because honestly, IT IS THE BEST, using the FREE version or the PRO.

And as for the PRO vs. FREE Versions go, Nothing in the Pro version except the MERGE feature is something I would ever use. But I don't trust MERGED or i ncremential images so even at that it's useless.

Clive Richards AOMEI still do not appear to have fully answered the questions about the lifetime upgrade license reduced from $49.99 to $19.99 which I have just purchased. I have two questions
1) Is this free upgrades to the major upgrade ie 3.xx or does it cover all future upgrades 4.x, 5.x etc. This should be clarified in the description
2) More critical- if I have purchased a full license exactly as if I have paid full price I should be able to re-install on the same 2 PC's should I at some stage reformat discs and re-install everything.

I will say that I have used AOMEI for some time (v2.8) it is an excellent and very efficient programme. I have completly restored my system drive from a disc image at least 10 times now - always successfully. (because I mess about with all sorts of free software my system gets corrupted some times) - I no longer bother to troubleshoot issues - just install the AOMEI image in under 2 hours
The only criticism is that if for any reason the drive letter of your back ups change - eg with external drives, you have to manually lead the programme to the new location - it would be good if it just automatically searched across drives for the latest back up
@geouser I have always found that restoring a system backup, restores the software with license intact. However this only happens if you back up and restore the system drive not just the C:Drive Though this is no help if you decide to perform a completly fresh windows installation, hence my question about the license
Jun 26 2016 at 4:26am Copy Link
1
Paulo User I have the same general concerns as @Clive Richards.

I purchased the lifetime upgrade license reduced from $49.99 to $19.99.
In the receipt is stated that the software must be installed during the giveaway promotion. Is this so?

As you may notice above there are two options:
"Today's promotion includes the following:
AOMEI Backupper Professional - Paid upgrades and Must be installed during promotion day v3.2 ($0)
AOMEI Backupper Pro + Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs) v3.2 ($19.60)"
It is assumed that paid option does not need to be installed during promotion days.

As this is a specific software that deals with Backups and Disk imaging, meaning that it is a tool to rescue data lost, my question is this:

Can I reinstall this Program in the need of a full OS reinstall without loosing the right of reuse the license code I bought?
If not so, what is the main advantage of buying a lifetime license if the main licence gets useless in a OS full reinstall scenario?

SoftCollector I purchased the AOMEI Backupper Pro + Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs) v3.2 ($19.60) and received the following crazy message:

You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards. Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key.

This is either a mistake, or the whole thing is a scam. Why must I use the licenses today? Why are future upgrades paid if the ad says Free Lifetime Upgrades?

I have asked for my money back.

Dmitrij Beliakov Paid version have install-time limit? :(

Jun 26 2016 at 6:11am Copy Link

Paulo User Furthermore, seems that the instalation files are the same for both giveaway options:
"ABPro-June2016.exe"

This is a serious matter, and MUST be clarified!

Asking for my money back is an option. But not the only one.

I shall NOT install the downloaded program during the giveaway promotion.
If the license key becomes useless beyond that time, I certainly open a legal dispute.

And it will not be any good public image neither for AOMEI neither for BitsDuJour, I must say!

Constantin Florea I am sorry about the confusion regarding the paid version. The paid version has lifetime upgrades.

In the receipt email you received for the paid version our system incorrectly added the license policy from The Fine Print tab however that license policy ONLY applies to the giveaway version. This is a known issue in our system and we have it in our Issues Tracker.

For all paid products we are selling through our site, we are using the same license policy the vendor is using to sell the products on his site. For products we are giving away the license policy may be different.

Larry Kesty I have had this program since version 2 and have had problems with each version. If you create a boot CD and make an image it seems to image everything.
However when in Win 7 and in Windows it does not image everything.
The best way to check is to use the mount function and then compare your mounted copy of your C:\ drive to the real C:\ drive by using Properties..
The Windows mounted version was always 30-35 % less then the real C:\ properties. I have contacted their tech support numerous times but the problem was never fixed.
I still think that VSS (Volume Shadow Copy) is not working correctly in this program.
Like I said- Mount your image made and compare it to the C:\ drive properties.

In my book if a vendor does not have the smarts to participate in these conversations then does not deserve my money or my future loyalty to their BRAND. Maybe I look at it wrong but that's me.
There are many alternatives out there and if you look and wait you always will find a giveaway promo to install and test. Allan Winston Having paid the $19.60 for the two-computer license and free lifetime upgrades, I am also curious about Maz' question. It certainly can happen that a computer can die unexpectedly, in which case there would no opportunity to uninstall the software. When the dead computer is replaced, is there a procedure in place to transfer the license to a new computer?

AOMEI Technology @Maz, @Allan Winston, One Paid license can only be registeded on 2 PCs, you can't transfer the license key for the third(and so on) laptop. If you have more than 2 PCs, then you need buy more licenses.

Allan Winston AOMEI Technology, I am very disappointed that you have not made provisions for the inevitable event that a licensed computer will some day die. I have no intention of having more than two working computers active at any given time. Even if your software is not as sophisticated as Norton Security, which allowed me to remove a "seat" for a dead computer, surely this can be handled via email communications with support.

For your question:

2), The license in this activity is exactly as the full price one , and can be registered on 2 PCs. If you have installed the previous version on your computer, the system will automatically unload the old version and install the new version."

clive User It is a shame that people are having these registration issues as of the several back up solutions I have tried this is one of the best. I think that the problems are at least in part more to do with BdJ and if you bought the paid version I am wondering if they have sent the free code by mistake (the free one will have expired though I think that if you email the software company and explain they will likely send you a code that does work. Unfortunately more and more complex sign up procedures are there because of the number of people who still pirate software through P2P and other places

A User Howdy,

Unlike any giveaway which most of the time is only good for registration in the mentioned time period, any software you buy that states it has a lifetime licences can be installed and reinstalled anytime. The lifetime registration for a particular product is linked to your e-mail and you personally not generic as the giveaway license is. No different then buying it at your local store with a hard copy DVD and registration.

You really should contact the vendor, in this case AOMEI, they really are quick to reply and helpful. I have in the past and found them to give great customer service.

Hope that helps answer.

Cheers

Please notice that the license policy (from the Fine Print Tab) applies only to the first item in the promotion page. It does not apply to the rest of the items as is the case here. Jos User Here's my view. I once got one of these backup program on a similar deal. I still have on a secondary hard drive the backup of a previous computer. The hard drive on the computer crashed. I replaced it. Now, how am I going to restore the backups from the previous computer onto the new one so I don't lose any data? The program I got for free on a limited license is on the crapped out drive. Easy, I can now purchase the program and pay full price. Now, where is the deal in this?
The only way around this, is to buy the lifetime license. So forget the freebie. It's only free as long as you don't need it for restoring a crapped out hard drive.

geo User @ Jos User: To also add to what @Peter Ekkerman correctly pointed out I always do the following (no matter what backup software I am using as long as it has the following capability) : Upon installation, the next thing I will do is to make a so call boot disk (or USB stick if the software has that option and if the PC can use USB boot up option in BIOS). The boot disk is either WinPE or LINUX based.
That will allow me to take a back up image from my storage (external USB drive) and restore it to a new HDD. That boot disk can also help in troubleshooting PC errors if certain tools are also present on that disk, but that is an option that defers from one backup software to another backup software vendor. This AOMEI product has that option. Take a look through their FAQs and you will see more details. I personally give this one high marks and I have used many different vendors. They all have something good/different to offer. If you have no up to date back up software DO get this one!
PS: The boot disk will also work for making an image back up of any HDD that has the supported file systems, you just need to boot the target PC using that boot disk.

The laptop is later replaced by a newer model. Can the license be moved and if yes, what is the process of allowing to reinstall the software to the new laptop? Is there a license removal utility or something similar to that, which will allow the user to legitimately move the license to the new laptop? Robert Crombie Two questions -
1) Can it be run from a bootable CD ?
(I don't create image backups whilst Windows is running)

2)Does it mess with my partitions and MBR ?
I tried some backup programs in the past , and a couple of them took it upon themselves to create their own extra partition, and messed with my MBR without my permission.
I like to keep my partitions and MBR as simple as possible.

Robert Crombie Toni User,
Thanks for replying.
I believe your last sentence is saying that the bootable version can create images.
During the original install, do you know if it messes with partitions (creates it's own wee partition) ?
And does it change the MBR ?
Feb 27 2017 at 5:58pm Copy Link
1
Toni User @Robert:

During the normal installation of the software,it does NOT touch your partitions or MBR,it simply installs itself in Program Files directory, and puts some of it's driver files into the Windows directory..
If you meant,if the backupper has some pre-windows environment for a recovery, which would require the manipulation of the current MBR, the answer is NO it doesn't.. You just create the recovery media and boot from the media then... (On Legacy Systems with MBR, you CAN boot ISO images from the windows boot menu... google for easybcd, freeware application to add normal windows boot menu+ISO files into the boot menu.. I'm using it..)
So, I also have Aomei Backupper in my bootmenu (aomei recovery iso-file), but it is only easybcd software, which is then changing your MBR, and remember, you can,and should always BACKUP the current MBR first, before you start doing that stuff.. you can do it in that software...
Yes, you can create and restore backup images and even just files/directories from the backup images.
Unless you do a full SECTOR-BY-SECTOR restore, it will NOT change the MBR..
I recall there was an option to choose if you want to restore the MBR or not..
You can read the manual book of Aomei Backupper at:
http://www.backup-utility.com/help/?adb

However, you CAN do a full sector-by-sector backup of an disk, which WILL backup everything, including the MBR, and when you restore that image you can choose NOT to do a sector-by-sector restore, which should leave your current MBR intact.

Pssst.. Good question, i will test this MBR thing right now, and report back to you here later... ;-)

Regards,
Toni A.
Feb 28 2017 at 1:03pm Copy Link
0
Toni User @Robert .. Forgot from my previous post (tried edit, but it didn't take it..)
No, Aomei Backupper does not touch your MBR or partitions during install,
it simply installs it on program files directory, and puts some of its drivers into Windows directory + starts its own Windows SERVICE program, which is necessary for it's operations, when ran from Windows..

ppsst... On Legacy (MBR) systems, (XP and above) you can easily make an bootable windows menu with EasyBCD (freeware, google for it) software, and add into it's boot menu ANY ISO-IMAGE files, also recovery images or even OS'es...
Remember to make an backup of your MBR etc. before starting to mess up with that software,so you can later on restore it. :)
So via that way, I have Aomei Backupper Pro recovery ISO media in my boot menu, and it boots from there, if i choose so...

I have asked this question before and went unanswered.
It would be good for future buyers to know where the company stands on things like this. The AOMEI website has no info on this situation and the License description is not clear on this.
Many vendors nowadays use a license uninstall utility for things like that and keeps the customer happy and protects the developer at the same time.
Of course there is the situation where the HDD totally dies unexpectedly but that would be NOT an everyday thing and if you have a HDD image with this software that solves that. But the new PC scenario will happen for sure...that's the way it is with PCs.
Thanks.

Doris Ballard Have been a Bitster for years, and have discovered over time that there are quite a few of the offered programs which throw up some flags. Often, from what I've seen, the warnings have happened because of the nature of the program itself - what it's made to do.

I've never downloaded anything from Bits Du Jour that was infected - ever, even the program I just downloaded yesterday sent up flags. There have been a few times that the programs weren't up to snuff, and I didn't keep them, but I have *never* been given a virus or a back-door through a BJD program.

Also, I use the Vivaldi browser, which is Chromium based, and will warn of possible issues, but give the user the choice of whether they want to continue a download or not. I don't want to make this an advertisement for Vivaldi, but after trying *everything* else, Vivaldi is the best one ... does things the other browsers never even considered, and doesn't have a "nanny state" mentality. You might want to try it out for times like this.

Richard User AOMEI Backupper Professional was blocked for download by Chrome browser as suspicious for malware. Message reads "This file is dangerous so Chrome has blocked it." I tried to dl it on 2 different PCs and got same message. I was finally able to download it using Edge. It scanned clean by Norton and Malwarebytes and also by Virustotal.

Install, unplug network, go to registration tab, you will get a "machine code". Enter that here:
https://www.aomeitech.com/code.html
Write it down in case you need to re-install. It will only be valid for that machine.
Support sucks (just see the number of support replies here - nil).
OTOH, program is good.

Candice Robertson Very happy to buy the pro license, but the "Fine Print" rules it out by stating the licenses must be used during the promotional period. I'll be purchasing a new PC in a month or two, so would like to install one license on my current computer and the other on the new machine. Not much of a "Lifetime" license if it's only going to be good for a few months. Don't know about you, but I've had very few systems over two - three years or so

jman Thank you to Aomei and BDJ! Installed fine on a Win10 Home x64 machine.

Because of all the issues mentioned in the comments, I downloaded the Standard v4.1 from Aomei's site ( www.aomeitech.com/ab/standard.html ), installed it, upgraded with the key from the BDJ receipt and it converted to the Pro version.

I have not used it beyond the installation, no time now, so I cannot offer any opinions on the workings of it at the moment.

Constantin Florea Hi guys. Please notice that it's not unusual for some antivirus systems to report false positives when scanning a file/installer.

We use virustotal.com to scan our installers and in the case of this insallers there are 0 (zero) detections out of 67 scanners, please notice the URL below:
https://www.virustotal.co.../detection

If you want to scan the URL yourself using virustotal.com please notice below the URL to the installer we're using for this promotion:
http://download.bitsdujou...ne2018.exe

You can simply supply this URL in virustotal.com (notice the second tab where it says 'URL') and see the analysis for yourself (this means you will not have to download the installer until after you have made your own scanning of this file using virustotal.com).

Jim Buchanan Great. I guess I should have followed what everybody said. I just paid for the lifetime one and can not get it to install. Now I'm out the money and it will be too late for me to get it fixed before the promo is over. I actually wanted it for my two computers but one just lost its hard drive (cannot access the drive) so would have to wait for a few days to install it on a new hard drive.
This is the second time I should have paid attention to the comments and not paid for anything this late at night. $31 CAD lost. I'm going to bed. What can one say? No one can resolve my issue before the promo is over.
Well, the rest of you can have a good night. Damn.

Slartibartfarst Once the Free AOMEI Backupper Pro v4.1 is downloaded, HOW THE HECK DO YOU REGISTER using the key sent separately via email?

Others ask this above, but seems to be no answer yet. (?)

My installation does not ask for a key or anything. It just works.
The installer removed an earlier Pro version that I had and asked if I would like to keep the key, or something, so I said "Yes".
Is that how it "registered" - i.e., automatically using the old key?

H. H. @ aomei
it´s kind of a company to offer software for free, so that´s a reason to say thank you.
Unfortunately aomei now causes a very bad experience at win 7 ultimate 64bit notebook
aomei pro 4.06 was installed, wanted to install 4.1, aomei new installation first deinstalled previous version, than stopped with a warning,

that a (aomei related) service could not be replaced, so used the recommendation to abort.
Restarting windows is impossible now, since always hanging at class.pnp followed by a not readable bluescreen. Nothing else had

been changed, no new software, no changed hardware. tried all kind of special boot modes (revert to last functioning image,.., safe

mode,..) - nothing helps. also tried windows system rescue disk, but restoring previous restoring points also fails, start up reapairing,

trying adoptable restore - nothing helps.
The software that should help to save the pc has now a completely functioning windows system destroyed.
What shall one do - could it help to edit the registry e.g.- delete certain entries (which??) - or what else to do to get the system working
Some years ago aomei was most likely to have caused a similar problem on another pc - there starting window 7 ultimate was

impossible since always hanged at ambakdrv.sys - a time and money consuming nightmare
Hope you find a solution since windows is not able to start since trying to install the today offered version

Slartibartfarst @H. H: Your problems with the failed AOMEI Backupper install sound horrendous.
I too had some problems with the installation, but I put it down to my mistake in pointing to the wrong directory for the existing (previous version) installation.

To overcome the problems, I had to uninstall the NEW installation and manually delete bits of it that could not be deleted by the uninstall process. I eventually got it to install in the correct (existing) directory.where the previous version had been installed, and all was sweetness and light. I never had the sorts of problems you have described though.

It seems that NEITHER BDJ NOR AOMEI are monitoring this discussion thread, as no-one seems to be attempting to answer the questions posed - e.g., like the Q about registration that I and others have posed in this discussion thread.

What you probably need is tech support from AOMEI. As a longtime AOMEI user, I have found them very helpful in the past, even though I was not a paying customer. Their TechSupport email address is given on their website - go to Contact Us in the top RHS of their website and that takes you to their links page. The SUPPORT email address is given there.
I shall write it in expanded form below, but this forum seems to automatically strip out hyperlinks so you might not get to see it:

Pequi Smith @Slartibartfarst
The license is tied to the Machine ID. So if you upgrade from 4.0.6 to 4.1.0 and elect to keep the registration(it will ask), it will upgrade to a registered version of 4.1.0. Which is what happened to you (and me).
If you clone the partition to another HD, the registration will be invalid since it uses the HD serial number (and other stuff) for the registration algorithm.

Slartibartfarst @Pequi Smith: Thanks for that. I was aware that the registration was probably attached to the Machine ID but not that it was attached to the HDD ID also. That could be a good reason for NOT using AOMEI Backupper Pro. Interesting.
I originally used AOMEI Backupper FREE to clone a failing HDD on my laptop to a new HDD. I then replaced the failing HDD with the new (cloned) HDD, and the laptop worked perfectly - including AOMEI Backupper FREE, which I used to test it all out after the switchover.

Dennis Johnson UPDATE:

I had no problems downloading with Chrome from the developer's website. After downloading that file, I had no problems installing the license code received. Thanks!

SORRY! I TAKE IT ALL BACK!

I thought things went fine. So I decided to test that theory and install on a different box.

The install seemed to go fine, but when I entered the license information, it again stated it was invalid. Thinking of what was different; the only difference was that I installed the program, uninstalled it. then installed it again. That's when I didn't have any license issues.

So I tried it on the new box. I uninstalled the program. During un-installation, a screen prompt asks if you want to save the license information should you reinstall. I say OK. Let the uninstaller finish. Install again. Hit the "click here to register" link. And again am told "invalid license code".

I give up. That's enough for me. Have fun, ya'll. I'm out.

Peter Laszlo Unfortunately it seems that everyone who posted is correct irrespective whether the software was infected or not infected and whether it installed correctly or did not install.
It is also safe to conclude that most if not all the contributors are experienced users or power users.

I suspect that Microsoft O/S are also at fault where for example Chrome works on one system but not on another system. Having been around PC-s since day one and DOS/Windows 3, I found that installed Windows registries become corrupted over time and quite possibly, no two installations are 100% identical in the universe.

The bottom line is that the application should not have had any indication of virus/malware and should have installed correctly on perhaps 90% of systems.

Irrespective whether the software is infected or not, I will not be installing it.

conceptualclarity Thanks to Dennis Johnson, I now understand what went wrong with me such that I never was given a prompt to enter the license key, and I found no place on the GUI to enter the key.

During installation, if you have a previous version of this program, you are asked to uninstall it. During that, you get a prompt suggesting allowing you to save the license information. In order to reject this, you have to click "Cancel." That tripped me up because I thought it would cancel the whole installation process. I reinstalled with the seup file, and this time when I came to that prompt about the old license info, I selected "Cancel." The installation finished. I clicked "Enjoy now." That brought up the program GUI with a prompt window where I enetered the new license code from BitsDuJour. It worked.

Doug Atkinson Barwick - I don't work here, but I believe the 12 month license is for the free offer. If you buy the Pro+Lifetime Upgrade for 2 PCs, then it should be for a lifetime, not just 12 months. Aomei Pro is normally $50 for a lifetime subscription.

Hennrick Hjalmarsson Barry Barwick - What Doug Atkinson is saying is correct, it has been confirmed in previous promotions. But why has not the product information been corrected/clarified yet, this goes way back.

I can also confirm that when you buy Pro + Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs), the registration code receipt sent by email still contains the registration information for the free offer:

"You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards. Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key."

Craig Is this true that the lifetime updates version does not allow transfer of the license to a new CPU? I was going to buy, but if I can't transfer the license when my computer dies that makes this useless, especially for backup software. One of the features listed is migrating a Windows install to a system with different hardware. How does the license handle that?

Hennrick Hjalmarsson @MBe @Craig The license is transferable.

From the End-User License Agreement:

1.3 LICENSEE is not allowed to lease, sell, rent out or pass the SOFTWARE to another person in any way. Such license is non-transferable and non-assignable, except for limited circumstances. The limited circumstances include where the original computer the SOFTWARE license was deployed on: (i) becomes non-functioning; and (ii) falls into disuse. In such cases, the license is transferable to a replacement computer.

Rajeev Rohatgi @ Constantin Florea: I installed the BDJ free Pro version around 18 hours ago, liked the program, and made a purchase for the lifetime upgrade about 10 hours ago through Paypal. According to Paypal, the purchase has gone through, but I haven't received any registration/license details (already checked my spam folders too). When do I get those?

Edit: Ok, I've got the registration details email from BDJ (sorry, didn't look carefully, thought it was supposed to come from Aomei). The next question -- where do I change my registration in the installed one-year version program? Or do I re-download and re-install over it?

Also -- in my receipt for the paid version, why does it say

"You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards. Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key." ? I thought this was a permanent lifetime version, which could be installed anytime.

Does that bootable CD allow us to create the images ?
If someone offered me $1,000 dollars if I created all of my images whilst Windows is running, I would decline the offer.
There is too much going on in W10, behind the scenes, that we have no control over. And I certainly don't want any of that happening whilst I am creating an image.

Regarding the note you mentioned for your purchase:
"

That is actually sent in all receipts no matter the item purchased because there is only one license policy which is valid for the first purchase item which in this case is the giveaway item. So that license policy is not valid for the paid items.

Rajeev Rohatgi Ok, to register after purchasing, you do have to download and install again, since the BJD giveaway is a special BJD version.

Great price, I only hope it's as reliable as the Macrium Reflect which I use otherwise.

Not too happy with the fact that for reinstalling on other machines I would have to write to them for re-activation, and that too, only once per license. In other words, over the lifetime of may ownership I could use this purchase on a maximum of 4 machines, but only two at a time...that's my understanding. The lifetime free upgrades feature doesn't sound too good now.

Home User Downloaded this but after reading the reinstall options I will look elsewhere.
If it was truly a lifetime license you should be able to uninstall on the old computer and reinstall on a new computer as many times as needed. If you upgraded computers every 2 years the product would not last a lifetime. Never heard of any software that has that limitation. I have other products that I have purchased in the past and have been uninstalled and reinstalled as many times as needed. This software does NOT really have a lifetime license.

If that's true, that's extremely deceptive marketing on the part of both Aomei AND BDJ.

My expectation of lifetime upgrades is that it should mean exactly that, the lifetime of the product (not the version). For example, I have a lifetime free upgrade of Malwarebytes Pro (since before it became an annual subscription) -- and Malwarebytes has honoured their commitment faithfully so far.

NegoDan After successfully installing the software, I tried to register my Paid License Key online at www.aomeitech.com -providing as proof my Paid Invoice from BitsDuJour.
AOMEI Support Team replies in a bold way: "Sorry, order from BitsDuJour is not supported by our system at present time."
*Full body of email from AOMEI Sales via freshdesk.com :

"Hi Dan,

Thank you so much for contacting us.
?Sorry, order from BitsDuJour is not supported by our system at present time.
If you have any other questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us back.

Best Regard,

AOMEI Support Team
www.aomeitech.com "

Can you please clarify if my paid License is still valid with their site?
Also, the Free Lifetime Upgrade for 2 PCs, regarding @Jean Pilier's statement about paid License being valid up to version 6 only?
Their Site shows clear in remarks: "Lifetime Free Upgrades" license ensures that you're entitled to upgrade for FREE to any later new versions that we release after you buy. No annual billing or renewal cost. The license also includes free perpetual technical support. *Note: If you uncheck this option, then it is the "Current Version" license, which is only 1-Time purchase without free major version (e.g. from 4.1 to 4.2 or higher) upgrade protection. In such case, you need to pay additional fee to upgrade the current version to each later version."
The Paid Invoice from BitsDuJour states: Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs) v5.0 (for $21.98) which entitles me therefore to "Lifetime Free Upgrades" license and ensures that I'm entitled to upgrade for FREE to any later new versions 6, 7, etc.
Again, @Constantin Florea/BitsDuJour Tech. Team, please correct me if I'm wrong. Anticipated thanks.

Constantin Florea I contacted the vendor regarding your comments above. Most likely the vendor doesn't reply because of the week-end.

@NegoDan - The lifetime registration codes were sent to us by the vendor. Once the promotion is over, the vendor should retrieve the registration codes from our system along with the information about the purchasing customers they were assigned to. Until that happens, the vendor does not know the key assignments meaning they can't tell if a key was assigned or not.

Michael User If you need coverage for more than 2 PCs, the Pro version is currently on sale (this weekend only) directly from AOMEI for about 50% off. Not as good as the BDJ free deal, but you can get more licenses.

https://www.aomeitech.com...2]=2&cp=40

For those asking about recovery, you make a special boot disk with the backupper recovery progam to recover from. Or you install the latest trial version from AOMEI and recover using that.

Michael User Here are the "Pro" features over the free "Standard/Home" version:

AOMEI Backupper Professional embeds with all features of the free version Standard.

It also supports system clone, backup scheme, merge images, dynamic volumes backup and other helpful features that are not available in the free version.

I've been satisfied with the free Standard version, TBH.

The sale URL I posted above is for the lifetime license if you're looking for more than 2 PCs.

Lito You should really change the wording for this because it is not a 2PC license, it's a 1 PC with a 2 activation limit and a 1 time allowed transfer to a different PC after all activations have been used up.

By saying the lifetime offer is 2PCs for the price, it sounds like I am going to get 2 different license keys with all the above mentioned activations to concurrently install on 2 different PCs at the same time and that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Honestly I do want to buy a lifetime license but this kind of license is a big pain in the rear. Sure you'd think 2 activations is fair and at one point it might have been, but since the craptastic win 10 came out it's not so great anymore. I have had to play the software activation fight with other vendors all due to win10 auto updating me to a new version. Some software activation stupidity couldn't figure out it's the same dam PC, so it invalidated my license and I spent 2 days going back and forth with support to fix and them complaining, I should have deactivated the software first, like I had any idea win 10 would just reboot the system without my permission to due a major update and screw everything up when I walked away from the pc.

I know I am going to use one activation to put this on my system, then the other when I upgrade my CPU when AMD releases the next TR4 chip. Then there is the possibility of using up the transfer license option if Win10 Screws me again when they force the next major update on me. It's why licenses like these usually keeps me hanging on the fence and not buying software with these kinds of schemes.

MBe @Lito: it is a bit different ... you can activate it on two PCs at the same time, but there is then only one move to a new PC possible, because it is in their eyes only one license/serial ... I think it is time, that the vendor give a statement, but look in the last years of this discussion ... no answer, that brings light in the dark, because they know that no one will ever buy

John Tour Oh look, seems that it's still available for what the third day? Maybe it's because the instructions/restrictions are so confusing for the average user. The offering site says it's a lifetime license as shown below, yet my new versions shows a upgrade arrow in the upper right corner and lifetime version with biggest discount button on the bottom which takes me to site offering to Upgrade AOMEI Backupper from 1 Year to lifetime version for $27.47.

Bob Feigel OK - I backed up a folder to my backup drive and it's in what I'd call a proprietary format with a suffix of .afi So it looks like you do need AOMEI to restore the files in the folder. Which is not what I want because if my entire system crashes then I have to download, install and re-register AOMEI on my new system in order to access my backed-up files. I'll stick with HandyBackup because it not only backs up files in their original format ((so they can simply be copied and pasted back) but you can also choose to have incremental backups which makes cloud storage far, far faster and less expensive.

Constantin Florea @SKY, I am sorry for the confusion. The license you purchased allows for free upgrades and can be installed any time. The reason you saw that phrase about installing the product during the promotion period, is because we only have one license policy per promotion (that license policy is available for the first purchase item which in this case is the giveaway item) and because of an issue in our system, which puts that license policy into every receipt email associated to that promotion, including in the receipt emails of the up-sells, like in this case.

So in conclusion, you can install the product any time and you have free upgrades for it.

L. D. User If this is a Lifetime License with Lifetime Free Upgrades then I don't understand why I can't use it on my existing already installed Pro versions of the program to upgrade their Licenses?

If I have to uninstall the versions I'm currently using first and then re-install the currrent version contained in the download link (very soon now apparently) then I'll lose the records within the programs of all the previous backups I've made!!!!

After purchasing this deal, why can't we just enter the new License into the already installed Professional version of the program that's installed on my computers and then update them?

That rule in the Fine Print is absolutely lousy.

Constantin Florea @Haim User, The installer we're using for the giveaway of this product is the one from the product website, which means there should be no need to uninstall the current version you have, because if you do, you would install again using the same installer. However if you have already registered the application using the giveaway registration information, I am not sure how that would work because I believe you would have to somehow remove that giveaway registration information first and then register using the paid version. Constantin Florea @Daniel User, We have been running the promotion for the past several days and for this particular promotion, a single code has been used for all customers. Usually the code a vendor sends us, has a certain number of uses after which it becomes invalid. I assume the issue in this case is that the registration code is now invalid because of the high number of participants we had for this promotion.

We have already contacted the vendor about this issue.

Once the vendor sees our support request email, they will either reset the number of uses for the code or send us another code which we will supply into the promotion flow.

We have chosen to continue running the promotion, even if the code is not valid, because once the code becomes valid again, it can be used further, or if we get a new code, which we will update into the promotion flow, then all customers will be able to have their receipt emails resent (from their Purchases page) and use the new code from their receipt..

Will you put a comment here or send an email to all concerned costumers?

Kotik User Good afternoon.
The program is good, but the offer only considers 12 months of use and only for version 6.6.0, this is not very good. Should I expect to be offered a lifetime license?
Sep 25 2021 at 4:53am Copy Link

Constantin Florea @Kotik User, I am sorry about the confusion. During today's promotion, we are promoting the "Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs)" license. The license policy is now updated.

The reason you saw the 12 months mentioned, is because we are using the same promotion page we used in July 2021 to promote the 12 months giveaway license for this product.

Joe Twomey EDIT: Never mind, I bought it, and I saved the receipt and the Fine Print tab on this page which both say it's a 2-PC license.

Your website says AOMEI Backupper Pro is "1 PC/license":
https://www.ubackup.com/e...rison.html

Your response to Kolic User is that today's offer is "Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs)"".

Is your automatic license checker smart enough that it can distinguish this offer from the normal Backupper Pro bought from your website page and respect this 2-PC license when we try to activate our license on a second PC? (My desktop is from 2007(!) so I never know when it will finally die.)

Also, my use would be to do simple image backups. Maybe my terminology is outdated. Is that what your website calls "System Backup"?

Thanks.

Starting with ...
Today's promotion includes the following:
AOMEI Backupper Pro + Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs) v7.0.0 ($0)
AOMEI Backupper Pro + Free Lifetime Upgrade (2 PCs) ($21.98)

So which is it? $0 or $21.98?

Also, the product on AOMEI's website says "One license for 1 PC"
Do we get two licenses (to cover 2 PCs) or one license code - and hope it covers 2 PCs!??

Mike S 7-1/2 hours into this wonderful offering and the license registration, using the license code sent by BitsDuJour in its email, still does not work (it wasn't working 7-1/2 hours as well), even despite uninstalling the software, re-downloading the software, and installing again. The continuing error message: "Registration failed. Failed to verify license code, please try again later." Unfortunately, a message sent to Aomei support for help led nowhere (the polite response: "Sorry for all inconvenience, since we check the license code is a Giveaway free license code, so we cannot activate it if it is invalid during using process, although it is not expire.").

BitsDuJour, please help/fix (is the license code that was sent incorrect?), along with Aomei as needed? Thanks--

John To be more direct, the fix seems to be using the offline mode:

Disconnect your computer from the internet one way or another, then open the program, and when you click the register button, it will give you a "Machine Code" hex sequence to use on their site at:
https://www.aomeitech.com...e-key.html
(Obviously, reconnect the cable or Wi-Fi first.)

That page will ask for that code, plus the license key you got from Bits Du Jour, and also the 4-charcter code on the screen (a sort of captcha verification).

That will then give you a long sequence of characters that you will then copy & paste to the program's offline key field.

Once you click the button, you're registered!

Jon Spain I just bought the paid version and I was told that I needed to install during the promotion (full wording shown below). That restriction is made clear for the free version but not for the paid version. If that is the case, I must request a refund.

You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards. Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key.

Constantin Florea @Adrian Williams, Actually our system has one license policy and that license policy is valid only for the first purchase item which in this case is the giveaway purchase item.

In case of all other purchase items (except for the first one so except for the giveaway item), the license policy is different especially for giveaways and especially for paid items. In case of these second, third, and further purchase items we include the type of license in the title of the purchase item.

So, in this case, if you were to purchase the Lifetime upgrades license, it would mean that you would be able to use the product while having Lifetime upgrades.

Constantin Florea @Adrian Williams, The lifetime upgrades licenses you purchased are valid for the Lifetime of the product meaning you can use any version of the product for free. HKP @ Walter Meckley:

AOMEI claims that AOMEI Backupper Pro 7.1.2 can transfer entire system from old computer to new computer. However, AOMEI does not explain whether the usual image from the system disk or cloning should be used for this. Recovery to a new computer is only available from the bootable rescue media. I haven't tried it with AOMEI Backupper Pro 7.1.2 yet if this works. I've already tried it with Acronis Universal Restore. The result was not satisfactory. In the Windows device manager, a number of errors simply could not be eliminated. Unfortunately, how AOMEI Backupper Pro 7.1.2 intends to solve the problem that different drivers are required on a new computer than on the old one is not explained. So you might have to try it yourself.

At the time, it said it could be used indefinitely.
However, after a year it expired. So I no longer trust Aomei's offers.
I also do not download any offers from anyone that are for a limited period.
It's ridiculous to back up your system to find out later that you no longer have access to that backup because Backupper had expired. It's a dirty trap to force you to buy a paid version.

David Johnson So, which is it? The email with the offer for the free Backupper Pro says:
After you purchase AOMEI Backupper Pro it may be used indefinitely.

After installation it says:
Note: current version is just one year usage

So which is it? Indefinitely or just one year?

In THE FINE PRINT after it says it may be used indefinitely it also says:
Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key.

That also makes it clear to me that as long as you don't upgrade, the current free version will continue to work.

Constantin Florea @Stephen Kreyling, The paid version is a Lifetime license and is valid for 2 PCs.

Regarding the giveaway license, it may be possible that the giveaway license is a 1 year license. I just asked the vendor for clarification.

Loyal Customer Yes, Aomei needs to come out clear and honest and say it's for one year in the Fineprint.
I have backups I made with previous Backupper giveaways that I can't open because the app stopped working after a year, although the Fineprint had said "indefinitely".
Fortunately, I don't have any critical needs for these backups, and I no longer install or trust Aomei's offers.
There are many great free alternatives, INDEFINITELY.

Dennis McKay Why even bother with commercial software. Rescuezilla is free and has saved me several times when a hard drive failed. Doesn't require installation, image can be mounted and data copied from it, can access all open source images plus virtualbox, vmware, and QEMU.

Angela Marie Mine says 'Register failed, invalid registration code'. I followed the license and machine code steps...what gives?

Constantin Florea @Angela Marie, I just sent you an email. Please use the installer I mentioned in the email which i just sent you.

After doing that if you will still encounter the issue you mentioned above, could you please send us at notify@bitsdujour.com a screenshot showing the registration code you fill in the registration window as well as the registration error message you get when trying to register the application? The registration error message should be visible in the screenshot (if necessary you can send us two screenshots, one with the error message and one with the code you fill in the registration window).

Edgar Werner After several years using a backup program of a third company I recently changed to the AOMEI tool and I'm very content with it. The reason of changing was that the abandoned program as well other ones didn't work any longer in my Win 10 installation due to their failing interaction with the VSS writer/player of Microsoft . (Windows shows up "in real time" what's the matter.) The exact interaction is crucial, however. There are lots of reports about this topic in the internet.
AOMEI as well as Acronis offer the VSS route and in addition as an alternative their own engines. I performed system back ups with these alternatives and I couldn't detect any disturbances during the back up process.

Gr3gw (I'd just like to throw in a thumbs up for another AOMEI product, Partition Assistant. It doesn't get the promo here that it deserves.)

Constantin Florea @Lazar Voin, I checked your Purchases page and noticed you did participate in the giveaway promotion for this product previously. Please notice that the giveaway license had the following condition:
"
Paid upgrades and must be installed during promotion day.
"

This means the giveaway registration code provided during the promotion cannot be used anymore.

Lazar Voin @Constantin Florea! I know that, the problem is that all the Giveaway software lose the registration when windows does updates. That makes it work any length of time but the giveaway time given of 6 or 12 months.
NB I purchased software from shareareonsale and bitdujour and does the same!

Martyn User Why would purchase this software if required to pay $50 to use it every year. There are similar if not better apps which you pay once. The trouble is software developers are getting greedy. They also do not want
