"It is awesome. Truly awesome." -- Larry Weintraub, CEO Fanscape, Inc.

Do you remember the first time you ever saw video playing in high definition? Your mind was blown, and after that, no viewing experience was ever the same. Now, what would you say if I told you that, just as HDTV can create a visual playground for your eyes, that you could also experience your music, movie, and gaming AUDIO in a new way that's compelling, innovative, and just plain out of this world? You can, with AstoundSound Expander!

With AstoundSound Expander, you'll be immersed in a 360-degree realistic sound field that features azimuth, elevation, distance, plus movement over time! That's right -- you'll actually be able to sense the movement of sound sources through three dimensional space. Best of all, AstoundSound Expander can give you this effect using only two output channels, such as stereo speakers or headphones. We're talking pro-audio capability & quality in a consumer friendly package!

Got a multi-channel or 5.1 setup? Prepare to be blown away...

Requiring no special hardware, and maintaining the full integrity and tonal characteristics of the original audio source, AstoundSound Expander adds elevation cues, from 90 degrees above and below listening position, to enrobe the listener in three-dimensional audio goodness. And just like with high definition television, after experiencing AstoundSound Expander, you'll never want to listen to your audio without it ever again!

Please note folks, today's AstoundSound discount is available for both PC and Mac!

Stephane M Hello, The policy terms on BDJ page say that the license is per user and there is no transfer to another owned computer but on ASE website under the FAQ section it states the following: ============================= Can I install and license ASE on multiple computers? Each purchased license code is intended for use on a single computer. Consult the installed User's Guide for information regarding transferring a license to a new computer. ============================= Please could you clarify? Thanks!

Roger Thomasson @ Stephane To quell any confusion, here's the official license policy :-) "Each purchased license code is intended to be associatedwith one computer; however, to accommodate your ability to transfer the licenseto a new computer that replaces your current one, each license code allows a totalof three activations. If you have already used the license code to activate ourproduct on three computers, a fourth activation will not be possible withoutpurchasing an additional license."

Stephane M It is a lifetime license and I change my computers on regular basis so what happens if I get my computer replaced more than 3 times.
Do I really need to buy another license?

Thanks!

Roger Thomasson @ Stephane Yes, that's what the policy seems to indicate :-)

Stephane M Yes that is why I am a little surprised Roger.
It seems unfair to me, changing computers does not mean we are another user even if it is very often but it is my opinion.
Thanks!

Kelly Knutson @Stephane As part of the digital marketing team for GenAudio I can help ease your mind. We will have your registration in our system and you would be able to email our support staff and reacquire a license if you eclipse 3 computers. For ANY concerns, please email our support team as we are very appreciative of your business and want you to enjoy this wonderful technology (and tell your friends;)).

disenchanted Kelly,

Probably 6-8 years ago I had received a self help vendor's cassette tape and it contained some new 3-D technology [for that time] that was awesome.

The demo tape had a lady walking in heels [there was a distinct clicking of high heels on a hard floor] and she was talking at the same time. The sound grew gradually  louder [like she was walking toward you].
When it sounded like she was right next to you, it then seemed she began to walk around you in a circle. first the sound came from the front, then the side, then behind you; until she was again in front of you.

The 3-D effects were freaky. It sounded so realistic.

I let  some coworkers try it and most of them yanked off the headset to see if someone was really behind them.

Does this product offer any such type of 3-D rendering of the audio?

To be able to change standard audio into special effects like that?

I'd rather have your experience it than tell you it does, but I believe so.  I just watched the Spiderman 3 trailer (old I know), and then I bring up ASE and switch to movies.  There I can can click None (off) or More (Max) and hear the difference.  At times, yes, I feel like this voice is right behind my head during narratives in the trailer.  I'm also a huge fan of the over ear, noise canceling headphones with ASE.  Desktop speakers work well too, but I love my headphones.

Thanks for your comments!

Mark Hummel Hi
While installing the tial I had this message: Windows cant verify the publisher of this driver software?

Also Realtek digital output (Realtek High definition audio) cant be operated, is this because of my motherboard. If not how to do it. Is the sound will be better then Speakers.

What operating system are you using?  I'm assuming the icon is on your desktop and when you click it, you receive this message.  Try right clicking on it and running it as administrator.  If that doesn't work more details you provide will help us resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Kelly

Kelly Knutson @Mark (part 2) The warning message regarding "can't verify publisher" is a standard response for our installer. This is because we chose not to pursue a rather lengthy process with Microsoft to create a signed driver using Verisign (which is common with a lot of publishers). With regard to the Realtec HD, the AstoundSound audio device is used instead of Realtek HD. The original Realtek HD device/driver is still there, but after our installer runs a new AstoundSound device/driver is present. When the Expander process is running, it uses our device/drive, not Realtek (or any other default audio device/driver). If for any reason Realtek displays, simply reboot the system, then double-click the AstoundSound Expander desktop icon.I hope this lengthy/technical response is sufficient. I just want cover all the bases. It really is or should be a seamless process!

Stefan Hauber Just having installed the demo on my Win7 x64 OS, when running it, I get the message 'Change Audio Endpoint - Unable to find buttons'. Is this an internal error-message or do I have to do something?

E P Could not get 3.0.2 to work under OS X 10.5.8, even after uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling and then uninstalling other enhancers (e.g., Hear), removing audio interfaces, configuring Audio/MIDI Setup, Sound Preference Pane, AstoundSound Preference Pane, etc.

Each time I only heard sounds for about a tenth of a second and then silence and a message about disabling other enhancers that would quickly disappear with the infamous spinning beach ball.

I was curious about this one since Hear sounds too artificial and Bongiovi DPS sounds great but only works in iTunes.

I tried this one with iTunes (removing the enhancers and eq.), the Finder, QuickTime, and VLC. It never worked. It did not even display the AstoundSound icon in the Menu Bar.

Stephane M I tried it it was working fine but suddenly I lost my speakers after rebooting my machine.

The speakers are still in the Playback devices list but marked as un-plugged and of course ASE does not list them as device, so no sound anymore.

I rebooted several times but still the same so I decided to uninstall ASE, rebooted but my speakers are still gone.

I do not know what happened and I need to figure out how to solve this now.

Tim K If the drivers are not digitally signed, how would this be able to be installed/used on a 64 bit Windows OS (e.g. Windows 7 64 bit) since digital signatures are required?

Tim K Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit
Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
120GB hard drive w/ 70GB free

Does not work.
I installed it, no more sound. Rebooted just in case, and upon logging in, I get the following error:

Audio Device Error
Could not find the GenAudio AstoundSound audio device.
Troubleshooting Tips:
1. Check the Control Panel to make sure the 'GenAudio AstoundSound' audio device is installed and enabled.
2. Try re-installing AstoundSound.
If the problem persists, please contact GenAudio technical support.

#1 completed, #2 reinstalling did not help.
I submitted a ticket on your site, but it says I'll get a response in 2-3 days ...!  So much for getting in on this Bit Du Jour deal!

Tim K Now a week later and still no response from their support.  I uninstalled it yesterday since it prevented the audio from working, and have pretty much given up on them.
In the software world, support is not everything, it's the ONLY thing!  I don't want software that only has vapor-support.

Someone in this company needs to see the light --64 bit Windows will be the default OS very soon (most software already works on it!).  By choosing not to spend money NOW to get your drivers MS Certified, you are killing the future of your product(s).

Kelly Knutson @Tim K

I sent you a message directly, but I'll also post the response for anyone following this chain. This isn't a 64 bit Windows issue and I've been very responsive to this forum. My CS team typically responds within 24 hours, but we did have several questions to answer while promoting here.

From our CTO:

In order for a driver to run on the 64-bit version of Windows (which would include 64-bit Vista & 7), the driver must be signed with the Microsoft AuthentiCode certificate from Verisign. In order for the operating system to not show a "Windows can't verify the publisher" popup message the driver must additionally have a signed certificate from the Microsoft WHQL organization. AuthentiCode is required. WHQL is not, as it only produces a security notification to the user. Since version 2.0 of ASE, released April 24, 2009, a signed AuthentiCode certificate from Verisign has been present and associated with the virtual audio device driver underlying the Windows version of ASE. That remains in affect to this day. If that were not the case, then ASE for Windows could not operate.

Because not having the WHQL certificate in place only produces the notification popup at installation time, and does not affect the virtual audio device driver's ability to function, GenAudio made the decision to delay pursuit of the WHQL certificate. This has allowed GenAudio to address other higher priority items. It is still on GenAudio's roadmap to participate with Microsoft in the many and varied testing regimes required to obtain the WHQL certificate.

Patrick J. What do owners of Sound Blaster X-Fi cards think about this software? Is it an additional benefit or even a replacement of the cards features 'X-Fi CMSS-3D' and/or 'X-Fi Crystalizer'?
Is it recommened to enable or disable the two above card features?

U- FU! Commentary By U-FU!

I don't mean to rain on the parade but i just downloaded trial, merely set software to "Games" and loaded up Major League Baseball 2K11 and in all honesty, I liked it BEFORE This software changed sound envelopes... It sounds stationary compared to before.

My sound setup is:

Dolby Pro Logic II/ THX 5.1

Logitech z550 Sound System

SPDIF Plugins Via 3.5" Jacks To Audio Card...

All enhancements off beforehand

AHHH The GenAudio is only for the FRONT Panel It shows in the properties...? ok so what about awesome sound without headphones & 5.1 or 7.1 thx / DPL II etc...? Anyway i don't use headphone they irritate me and box me in... What a joke this waste of time was. If You have a solution please by all means, kick it down to us homies, Thanks, and btw U-FU!

U- FU! Commentary By U-FU!

Ran the software again with Zune & AC DC and also REO Speedwagon songs, it's playing REO Speedwagon Take it on The Run right now as I type and I don't at all like the widened tin can sounding effect. Maybe it's my sound system coupled with this software but man actually it's irritating expanded tin can echoish sounding, i guess it's meant more for headphone listening, so anyway that's my feedback and feedback don't feel so great, maybe it's up too high so anyway and btw, this locks in to the GenAudio device even after I close the software ( for those that didn't know that, anyway Putting back to speakers device, Thanks but no thanks, not at all what I expected, I expected immersive envelopes that filled the room arena, sorry sadly disappointed. in fact tweaking/ setting equalizer (with my system) has a lot better effect on audials than this. Cheers-~(____)~ Oh and btw...U-FU!

M Spurvay I purchased this software over a year ago, and it has been one of the best audio software purchases I have made. Great sound and easy to use. I did experience some type of "licensing anomaly" a few months back, so I contacted their customer service and received an immediate reply. I sent in my original registration information (ALWAYS keep good records of ANY purchase) and they sent me back clear & simple instructions on how to get the program up and running again within minutes. It worked and have been using it since without any problems. I would recommend this program without hesitation.
