Carl Dolc Hola:

Considero que es una excelente oferta pero seria mucho mas atractiva que la licencia fuera para actualizaciones de por vida y no solo para versiones menores, ojala que en próximas ofertas puedan lograr que la licencia sea mas extendida.... :(

John Gallagher So I just installed the trial of Image Comparer, and immediately, the trial is expired. This happened using the file downloaded via the trial download link on BDJ; and it also happened when I navigated to the Image Comparer home page and downloaded from their free download link. I would like to try before I buy.

Bruno Verschraegen May I ask what exactly is meant with "Image Comparer just won't allow duplicates to appear again in your collection" when you try to add a new image? Theree may be perfectly plausibek reasons why I want to have some images duplicated in more than one location. Offering a tool allowing to eliminate unwanted duplicates is great, disallowing the creation of a duplicate is not. Or is the text just a but of bold copywriting and the programme isn't that mercyless? If it is not that restrictive, then I probabky buy after having some further look. If instead it is, then I will pass...

Max Smirnoff John, I am sorry for that. May be you tried the program some time ago? A year or even two ago...

Bruno, of course you can save copies if you want. Our programs can detect the duplicates, after that you choose - delete them or not.

Garry Camps does this work with mp3 and what other formats can it use ? what type of comparison is used ? is bye by byte, filename, filesize, or other method....this question applies to both programs (image comparer and audio comparer)

Garry

Bruno Verschraegen Thanks for the confirmation Max. So the promotional statement under "Your digital collection guard with perfect memory" is a bit bold then when it states "...our program has got excellent memory! Every time you add new photos ... duplicates have no chance! Image Comparer JUST WON'T ALLOW duplicates to appear again in your collection..." ;-) At least in reality that is not the case, luckily.

Retired Engineer Will these tools identify icons which are the same, except for colors and titles?

May 8 2015 at 8:35am Copy Link

Max Smirnoff Gary, both programs using advanced comparison algorithms. These algorithms able to detect similar pairs too, so it is not just simple byte-by-byte comparison.
Image Comparer can find resized copies, for example. Audio Comparer is able to locate the same song n MP3 and FLAC format. The list of supported formats for Audio Comparer: MP3, MP2, MP1, WMA, AIF, WAV, WavPack, FLAC, APE, AAC and OGG. Image Comparer supports all major image formats

Bolide Software - May 8 2015 at 8:54am Copy Link

Max Smirnoff @Retired Engineer, Image Comparer supports .ICO files, but I am not sure if it will fit your needs. Especially for icons smaller than 32x32. It is better to try trial version with your actual images.

Guy Good How does Image Comparer match up with Dpeg? What advantages does Image Comparer have. One major advantage is Audio Comparer included with this offer.

Louis H @Max (See edit below)

Is there any built in function to allow for by-passing bracketed images - as in HDR? I have lots of images where I have three raw files where the ONLY difference is an adjustment for exposure. I then take the three images and merge them for an HDR image. Can I set the program to NOT scan certain image types? OR can I setup the parameters to us when running it's comparison algorithm? downloading a trail now, but if you could clarify if what I am after is a function of the Image Comparer, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT

I ran the trial and answered my own questions. It is simply a matter of adjusting some of the settings in Preferences. I guess that is why free trials are offered, eh? DOH! ;-)

May I request a future promotion for Video Comparer as well? Thanks!

JW Hi!
Never been near your Audio Comparer software before, yet the download of the trial copy and its installation says "trial over" before I've even had a chance to look at it!
Is there perhaps a 1-day key that can be applied to enable me to try it out - properly?

Constantin Florea @John Westbury, I've just contacted the vendor regarding the issue you mention.

BitsDuJour Admin - Oct 1 2015 at 5:16am Copy Link

Max Smirnoff @John, sorry, our licensing system cannot generate 1-day keys. From my side I can guarantee a full refund for your order if you'll have any problem with our programs

Toyzrme FYI I've used both of these programs for a couple of years, along with a few others. DEFINITELY worth this reduced price - I paid full fare, and it was worth it.

I have used 4 others (2 image + 2 audio) as well, and as of 2 years ago, none of them was perfect; they each had their strengths, including this one. I was able to remove about 15% of my library that were duplicates, as well as identify a few that were mis-labeled (i.e. labeled as different songs, but were actually the same, so 1 could be removed).

Only drawback is that neither has been updated in years, while others have advanced.

RS While I can't comment on this particular tool, I can tell prospective buyers not to hold your breath if you need support. I have contacted Bolide Software on three occasions over the past seven months or so regarding my purchase of another Bolide title, Duplicate Video Search, and never received so much as an acknowledgement. What makes this even more frustrating is that the tool actually works, though it could be improved substantially with just a little work and attention. Unfortunately, there hasn't been an update since my purchase, and my emails discussing various improvements have gone unheeded, as was my recent request for technical support when I found that the program crashed in Windows 10. So, while it seems that Bolide's software delivers, at least at some level, you risk being ignored after your purchase. I will post an update should Bolide ever respond to any of my messages.

Toyzrme When were these last updated?

Apr 7 2016 at 8:06am Copy Link

Richard User I'm interested in the Audio Comparer. I have over 250,000 music files, mostly mp3. It can be a problem to manage all those files. I have a few questions.

Can Audio Comparer handle that many files and would it take forever to process them all?

Does Audio Comparer modify the mp3 files in any way, or does it simply work with its own data set?

I don't want Audio Comparer (or any other app) to do ANYTHING with my files automatically, especially not delete them. Can it work strictly as a reporting app and then let me decide what to do in each case? And does it have a whitelist of sorts, so I can tell Audio Comparer to ignore something it thinks is a duplicate because I know it is something I want to keep?

I know I could download the trial version and test it to answer these questions, but I don't know that I will have the time to do so before the BDJ promotion ends. Thank you.
