Pergenex Software Hi Brian H,

The functionality of our other products "Message Assist" and "Traylook" are not contained in Auto-Mate Professional. Also, "Remote Out-of-Office" is a server-based product that runs on Microsoft Exchange. At times we do offer some bundling discounts, but it is not available for this current promotion.

Terry McMorrow Never heard of this program but it is exactly what I have been searching for. Being able to do something with an email by the attachment name is something I thought I would be writing a VBA script for myself. With this program there would be no need to do any scripting at all - seems very complete and easy to use. Very impressed with its functionality with my testing for the last hour. Thanks for having the program here.

Silat How is this better than just writing rules in Outlook?
Aug 27 2012 at 11:24am Copy Link
0
Pergenex Software Hi Silat,
Auto-Mate has many features not available in Outlook. Here's some examples:

In Outlook, rules are only triggered to run when you receive or send a message. Auto-Mate let's you do that, but also run rules in the background on a periodic schedule. This allows you to perform routine cleanup of messages (for ex: periodically delete messages that I read that are older than 5 days). You can also run rules after you reply or forward messages, or even when messages are added to certain folders.

Auto-Mate can also automatically name and create destination folders for you, extract attachments, compress attachments in-place, export messages to your filesystem, remove duplicates and more.

Lastly, since the number of rules you can create are unlimited, many Outlook users use Auto-Mate to overcome the 32K rule limit on server-based rule storage.

Silat Thanks for the answer :)
I use Outback Plus 8 for Outlook backups.
What happens to my Auto Mate settings and Outlook when I perform a restore? Does Auto Mate do its own import/export of it's settings?
Aug 27 2012 at 1:13pm Copy Link
0
Pergenex Software Silat, Auto-Mate maintains it's own rules and settings database on the client filesystem. It would not be affected. Auto-Mate also has it's own built-in ability to backup and restore rules.

So if my system went south and I reinstall will Outlook be ok if I do not reinstall Auto-Mate?

Aug 27 2012 at 6:42pm Copy Link

Pergenex Software Silat, Auto-Mate sets message properties and moves messages in the same ways you can do it yourself manually using Outlook's interface, so once you uninstall Auto-Mate, there are no left over dependencies on Auto-Mate in any way. I hope this answers your question.

Pergenex Software Correction on the above comments, it's Outlook 2013 Preview. Users will be able to use Auto-Mate 6.0 with Outlook 2013 when it is officially released. They will not be forced to upgrade, but can always voluntarily upgrade to the next major release if they wish.

Kimmo Lahtinen This kind of program is very interesting. After reading this information I have two questions:

1) You allow installation on two computers. I have different OS versions on both of my computers, is this situation handled? Just now I am testing Win8 with Office 2013.

2) I have an archive server that sometimes does not authenticate so quickly (?) and Outlook disables the rule when it is unable to move a mail. Is is possible with your program to retry a certain rule(set) if the first try fails.
Aug 30 2012 at 12:26am Copy Link
0
Pergenex Software Hello Kimmo,

Installation on 2 different versions of Windows does not matter. It will still work as long as it is a supported OS. We have just started testing with Win8/Office 2013 and it appears to work OK.

Auto-Mate will not retry immediately after a failure, but should catch it in the next background run of all rules (hourly).

Pergenex Software Jerry, what version of Outlook do you have? If your have Outlook 2010, verify what bit version you have 32 bit or 64 bit. You will need to get the matching bit version of Auto-Mate 6.0.

Pergenex Software Hello Cruiser Mann, you can configure a rule action to export messages in a few different formats to your filesystem, so the dropbox folder works.

As far as restore, I am not sure what you mean here. If you were reading previous comments about backing up and restoring rules, that's different. This is just a built-in feature to allow users to backup and restore their configured rules.

Silat PS one more question.
Will rules made in Auto-mate conflict with rules previously made in Outlook?
Or do I need to delete my previously made Outlook rules?
Aug 30 2012 at 1:44pm Copy Link
0
Pergenex Software Silat, you should delete or deactivate the same corresponding rule in Outlook. In general Auto-Mate will let the internal rules run first so they can coexist if you want, but as a rule of thumb, you should only have 1 rule to accomplish a particular function so you know what system is acting on your messages.

Jeff Maxton There seems to be a discrepancy in the licensing on the Bits du Jour site vs the full license agreement document.

On the Bits du Jour site it indicates "Each license allows installation on 2 computers, but Auto-Mate 6.0 Professional Add-in for Outlook may not be used at exactly the same time on each of them.".

However in the full license agreement (from the link saying "Read the full license details") it says "Pergenex Software grants you ONE (1) non-exclusive and non-transferable single user license for the internal use only of the Software. This license entitles the owner to install the Software on a single computer".

I didn't actually notice the full license agreement said something different until after I purchased.
Which is correct?

Philip Avery AutoMate is an excellent add-in for Outlook users who want to control their inbox. I wish the loyalty of the company to its users matched this standard. I was offered an upgrade 'discount' of 15%, which I refused. This current offer cannot be used to upgrade or extend an existing licence (see the Fine Print), so beware - the total cost of ownership will be very high.

Chris Roy Jackson To Pergenex Software LLC Vendor:

Auto-Mate 7.0 Professional was released on 14 Jan, 2013 ??
ver. 6.0 was released on 27 Sept, 2011 ??
ver. 5.0 was released on 7 Sept, 2010 ??

Is that correct ???

So a Major Version Cycle ends up running (somewhere) around a Year each and we can expect that version 8 MIGHT be released around the beginning of 2014 (Jan, - March)
Does that sound about right ???

Yes, you are very close.
v5 - Jun 2010
v6 - Sep 2011
v7 - Nov 2012.

We usually have a major release every 12-15 months. It is sometimes dependent on the timing of Office releases. v8.0 will probably fall into Q1-2014 like you said.

Pergenex Software Thanks for purchasing Philip.

Kelly:
We offer discounted upgrades to all of our customers for each major release. The discount amount is based on the amount of time since your last major release purchase. If you purchased within 60 days of the new release, the upgrade is free. Then it varies from 35% down to 15% off list to upgrade.

We also run promotions (like this one) throughout the year and we mail all our customers to allow them to participate.

This is not unlike most other software vendors. If you have suggestions for us, we are happen to listen and help.

Kelly Major @Pergenex Software

OK, that sounds reasonable. I understood Philip to say that purchases under this offer would not be eligible for upgrade pricing as though I purchased it for you directly.

I will download and test. If it goes well purchase by the end of the day.

Thanks for the clarification. - KEM

Philip Avery I purchased for another machine. Your Fine Print says "This promotion cannot be used to upgrade or extend an existing license." Are you now telling Kelly that it can?

The point I want to get across is that having bought the software, I find new users are being treated better than existing customers. 15% off full retail of an expensive add-in is poor recognition of customer loyalty and is far worse than I get on any other software at any price, and I buy a lot.
Feb 7 2013 at 9:11am Copy Link
0
Pergenex Software You're welcome Kelly.
Pergenex Software LLC - Feb 7 2013 at 9:11am Copy Link
0
Pergenex Software Philip, that statement in the fine print tab is actually incorrect and we will have it changed. You can use this promotion to purchase an upgrade.

Deals like today are special one-time events, and the discount is usually very steep. We would rather have our customers know about them and participate that not inform them at all. Many are taking advantage of this deal to purchase additional licenses.

We are always open to suggestions for improvement. Thanks.

Roger Thomasson Folks concerned about upgrade discounts, feel free to continue the discussion here:

http://www.bitsdujour.com...-discounts

BDJ is a mechanism for vendors to attract new customers. Pergenex has been transparent about their upgrade policy.

These threads are for questions or concerns that have not already been addressed.
BitsDuJour Admin - Feb 8 2013 at 6:41am Copy Link
0
Iam Private Roger, BDJ is missing the point here. Pergenex is not being transparent about their upgrade policy, and that is why folks are posting (warning) about it. Pergenex says that buyers are entitled to a free upgrade within 60 days of a new release, and that a new release is imminent (1st quater 2013); but, the reality is that they will issue the new release just *past* the 60-day period. They are misleading folks to believe that one can purchase via this offer and then get a free upgrade because a new release is right around the corner, when it will likely be more than 60 days away. Pergenex has not denied this allegation. It's deceptive -- and by removing these posts to a discussion forum, BDU is allowing it's followers to fall into this trap. The truth is that, based on Pergenex's upgrade policy, it's better to wait and pay for the new version than get the discount and try to upgrade. Removing these posts to the forum does not give customers the information they need, and it caters to the developer rather than those who follow BDJ. Please return these messages to this thread, don't bury them in the forum, and let the developer answer their critics directly. If they truly are transparent, they should welcome replying.

Chris Roy Jackson For all concerned about updates:

Auto-Mate v8.0 will probably be released in the Q1-2014 .
Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free up to the next major version.
Auto-Mate ver. 5.0 was released in June, 2010
ver. 6.0 was released on 27 Sept, 2011
Auto-Mate 7.0 Professional was released in Nov, 2012
Auto-Mate v8.0 will probably be released in the Q1-2014 .

"It loooks like you'll get over One year of FREE Updates (if you purchase this software today) !!"

What about those of us who purchased Auto-Mate here in August, 30th? Do we qualify for one year updates as well (or at least to version 7x, I guess) or do we have to buy again?. BTW, I was wrong about the date of the last offer (for 2 days).

Thanks,
Diego

misho This is a great application. I have been using it at work for the last four years and it is indispensable, if you receive a large amount of e-mails and you spend half of your day sorting them out accordingly. The native MS Outlook similar function is not even close. Works flawlessly and is infinitely customizable to your needs. Get the Pro, at this price it is well worth it.

Rich Ackerson I see the officially supported Outlook versions are 2010 and higher. Any chance this will also support Outlook 2007?

Pergenex Software This version, 9.0 does not support Outlook 2007, but our previous v8.0 will.

Jon Spain The conditions state that 2 devices can be used but the receipt email stipulates just one activation; that needs to be looked at (I only bought for both).

Pergenex Software Hi Jon, thank you for your purchase. You can activate on 2 computers. The receipt email is basically stating that you have purchased a single user license. Sorry for the confusion, we will update the email to be more clear.
