Virus Scan for Auto Text Expander

Retired Engineer Something's wrong with "whitespace" specified as the expansion trigger. I created an "m" abbreviation for "myname

hotmail.com". But, when I tested "m" in MS Notepad and Fookes' Notetab, it expanded immediately *without* my typing any whitespace after it. There was no pre-existing whitespace in either text editor.

Please advise how to avoid this, or tell me what additional test data you need.

Robert Bull Please, does your Fill-in Macro work automatically, like RoboForm, or do you have to "program" it, like KeePass?

Direct Access, FastFox Typing Expander, Instant Text, Phrase Express family (including AutoText Typing Assistant), RoboType 4, Rocket Typing, Smart Type Assistant, Text Accelerator, Texter, Type Booster, TypeMate, Typing Assistant, Typing Buddy: roll your own with AutoHotKey. All cover more or less the same sort of need, and some are free. What do you regard as the special features of your program that make it stand out from the crowd?

Retired Engineer Robert - Thanks for the reference list. I'll check them out. I do use RoboType 4. One you did not list is IntelliComplete, and there is a free version of it for the Notetab HTML text editor, which I also use.

Robert Bull @Silat: mostly, I use Typing Assistant, or Instant Text. TA is modestly-priced and portable, IT is expensive. powerful, but not portable. Then again, it's hard not to recommend anyone to look first at some of the free ones.

Robert Bull @Retired Engineer: I forgot Breevy, too... I think the version of IntelliComplete for Notetab and also for PolyEdit is a special one that's only available if you have a registered copy of one of those programs.

You need to set delimiter as space if you want to expand after you press space. Trigger as white space is different. Trigger is used to identify abbreviation. If abbreviation is preceded by Trigger then it will be expanded. This is useful if you also use abbreviation within any word.

Software Guy This application has one very nice feature that many or even most similar programs lack - the ability to set the text according to the application. You can set which applications invoke the text expander and even which text snippets will be active in that application. That is a nice feature.

VLM Does the inserted text retain preestablished formatting? Does it go in as RTF, or as ????

_*_ Trying the demo out, but have not been able to make this program work.
I type in the sample “sta1” and indeed it pops up a window, but I have no idea how to make it insert the text into the program.

I have created my own text, but the program does not seems to recognize it.

I created a new folder and placed my snippet within it and the program will pop up my folder (I gave it a shortcut) but once again I cannot find a way to have it place the text into the program.

I read the manual how to create a snippet but it did not help.

So, where am I going wrong? Thanks
