Nelson Therrien I hope the Fine Print that says "License can be used for Personal use only." is only for today's free version, and not for the Pro and Unlimited versions...

Same thing for the support, which is said to be 36 months, but 1 year, 3 years and unlimited for the Basic, Pro and Unlimited versions respectively...

Thomas Duntze Take a look at the comparison chart (link on top of this page) to see, what the basic version can do. The Personal Use clause seems to be made extra for the BdJ-offer. There is no such clause in the comparison chart, if you buy the Basic version.
The license terms for pro and unlimited version are explained on the homepage.
There is an offer for the pro version at 50% of the original price ($ 55). I found no indication that the vendor offers updates from Basic to Pro, at least not on the homepage. May be you first have to purchase and install the Basic version to get an offer for updating.

Maybe someone who installed it already can answer that question.

i’m a little confused...it says it is installed, and “running”......i don’t see anywhere to apply the registration info, and, i don’t see how to “stop” it running. sorry.

It is running since it is open (and it stays in the Task bar).

You need to add a new backup by clicking on the top left button and following the wizard... You'll see, once it's done, that it's "Pending...". It will run at the scheduled time, or you can click the Start button (4th one) to start it right away.

When it's really running, the Stop button (5th one) will be available...

To register, you click on About (last button) and then Register BackupSF.

Roberto I cant access thru the port 3306 in my host. I dont have a direct phpmyadmin url (I only can access from cpanel to backup the database).

Can BackupSF install some php file to dump the database before the backup?

Dennis Johnson I love this program so much after getting this same discount a year or so ago. Today, I had to purchase the Unlimited version because it is too good a deal to pass up.

I have over a dozen Wordpress sites. This makes backing the database up to my computer (or anywhere else) simple and reliably.

Try the Standard version for free. If you like it and need more than it offers, buy a larger version. I'm happy to get the Unlimited version of BackupSF at such a discount. And I hate buying software.

Jan-Christoph Ihrens I'm just testing BackupSF - for me as a web developer, this could be quite handy. I just wonder why I have to upload some scripts in order to be able to backup databases. Is there no option for using an SSH tunnel? If not, will such a feature be added in the near future?

I'm using Navicat for managing databases, where I can choose between the two options, and the SSH tunnel is much more performant and stable than using a script (and most probably more secure, too).

Bits User Downloaded, installed, and played with the free (3 dom 1 db) version.

Impressed enough that I wanted to get the "full monty" unlimited version to help support the developers of the product (nice piece of kit from what I can see)

BUT.....

Been trying to buy the unlimited version all day long, I keep getting a "Server Busy" or "Server Time Out" error instead of the purchase page. Cleared cookies, tried 3 different browsers. After 4 hours I am pretty much done for the day. Would like to purchase but not this time it looks like :(

If you had or would add MS SQL Server to the DB options I would keep trying until the cows came home.

Another suggestion I would like to toss out to you would be a "manual" option along with the daily, weekly or monthly for those sites that do not change frequently but you want an archival "grab" of them occasionally.

GOOD LUCK with the product, you have a winner on your hands

Gde Swart I downloaded and installed the Basic edition with no problems (Win 7-64). While I mostly code, I also maintain a few websites for some clients, which I backup when they make changes. I thought this might be helpful, so I tried to give it a good workout.

BackupSF is small, stable and very easy to use. The UI is so simple that there was no real learning curve, it just worked the way I thought it should. I like that. And the licensing is straight forward. I like that too.

Truth be told, I'm more pleased than impressed. The folks at Easy Sector have made a fine utility, however there are some features I'd like to see and I expect they'll appear in future releases (currently version 3). Someone mentioned Navicat which is probably the gold standard in it's category, but its overkill for my needs and much, much more expensive.

So after testing it, I'm back at BDJ to purchase the Ultimate edition. I believe it should satisfy my website backup needs and the deal is simply too good to pass up. Based on my experience so far, I'd recommend it.

Bits User Following up to my issues with purchasing.....

Was able to purchase through their web site link after a couple more hours of "server time out errors" using the BTJ coupon code from the failed previous attempts. Won't post the coupon code but if you cannot get to a paid version through the BTJ links, open the URLs in a new browser and at the end of the URL will be the coupon code that you can insert directly into the backupSF purchase page on their website which will give you the same discount.

Looking forward to using this software.

Daniel . @Dennis Johnson, if you don't like paying for software, there are plenty of free options, my webhost uses cpanel and they have an option where you can backup everything that belongs to your account in one click and provide it in a compressed file that you can download. I'm sure other control panel systems have this option as well.
