Loco78 * I have uploaded a test version upgraded to Pro at a discount and activated by typing (copy and paste) the registration key that I got in the mail and that's it, no need to restart the laptop but still a trifle.

Yes. In the Preferences screen, there is a Power Saving tab. In there you can enable an option to automatically switch power plans when on external power or on battery power.

The free version only has the taskbar icon and the status popup. You cannot change any settings. Our old website had a breakdown but we haven't added it to our new site.

*Does the license have to "call home" in order to register?*

Yes. When you put in your key, it asks our servers to validate the key and the server provides the client with a secure key so the client knows that it's activated. If you don't like that, then in the Upgrade to BatteryBar Pro form, there's an option to request an offline activation.

J S I have just one question to ask:

Q: can the Notifications or Warning Level settings (or something not covered by your screenshots), be made or altered to operate a USB port OFF at FULL charge and ON at a low battery level?

I am looking for some sort of Battery level indication device that can automatically switch on the mains power supply through a USB Powered relay (or triac) that switches mains voltage off/on

That way when the battery power is low the USB device automatically switches ON the mains which then recharges the battery and once the battery is at 98 to 100% (full) charge the USB device switches the mains voltage power OFF

I do hope You can reply before the offer expires.

Chris Thompson JS, conceptually that's a very interesting question but the answer is more complicated that you'd like to hear. The software itself cannot do what you're asking. What type of USB device are you talking about? How would the software communicate with it? Does it have a driver and/or API?

My first thought would be to build an Arduino-based device.

Anyway, in terms on this promotion, it doesn't meet your specific requirement.

J S Hi Chris, I had in mind something like the Printed Circuit Board (in the eBay URL below) enclosed in a Fiskar Box or case - similar in size to a laptop power supply with a mains lead and plug on one(1) end of it, which can obviously plugs into mains power AND either a mains voltage socket mounted onto case OR another cable coming out of the relay case with a mains voltage socket: which the Notebook/Laptop/NetBook device will plug into

PLUS of course 1x USB cable Type B which plugs into the Notebook/Laptop/Netbook and at the other end of the USB cable a type A plug which will plug into the USB port on the PCB relay (url below).

I'm a licensed electrical technician so the case/relay/plug and socket is easy to do but the trouble lies in an interface which switches ON with low battery reserves and OFF when the Notebook/Laptop/Netbook battery is at or near full charge.
