A long time ago, on a computer desktop far, far away, you used to have just a few icons -- My Computer, Recycle Bin, maybe a couple more. Today, your desktop is loaded with "stuff" - icons for programs, for files, for folders, each one of them added to the desktop because you said you needed quick and easy access to launch them. But, as I see you fumbling around to open Explorer, browsing to "/users/documents and settings/desktop" because you CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ANYMORE on your screen, may I suggest a better way?

Berokyo is a stunning piece of software that takes all of your desktop items and arranges them in attractive shelves and cabinets on your desktop! Everything is organized into its proper place out of sight, yet remains ready to launch in an instant. Your cabinets are arranged on multiple shelves with categories and subcategories to keep everything neat. Just drag and drop items to arrange them!

What's more, everything in Berokyo can be personalized to suit your quirky tastes! Pick patterns and colors for the cabinets and shelves, and change the sizes and positions of your cabinets. Like metal? Got it. Like marble? Got that, too. Like wood? How about four different wood styles to pick from? You can even mix and match styles, so you can have metal shelves with wooden cabinets! Set custom hotkeys to launch your stuff. You can even set Berokyo to full-screen, auto-hide and keep-visible modes, depending on how much you adore the way it looks.

Still have trouble finding things? Berokyo has a killer incremental search function - just start typing and one or more possible matches are found and immediately presented to you!

This promotion includes the following:
Berokyo for Windows ($18.95)
Berokyo for Mac ($18.95)

bvssunnydale Is there an option to use the basic structure of the program (rows & columns of neatly arranged icons & views) without the 1950's paneling look? Thx.

_*_ Hello,
1. I cannot figure out how to put webpages into the program for retrieval.
2. The Auto-Hide feature seems to work for Top, Bottom, and Right sides, but will not consistently auto-hide when docked to the left.

Looks nice, but I think more control how things appear would help.

Kevin Harris 1. Right now the program only supports the cabinet styles which you can fully customize.

2. You can add webpages into a cabinet by simply dragging the URL from the Internet browser to the cabinet or pasting it from the clipboard.

3. The cabinets auto-hide the same way when docked, no matter the edge they are docked to.

_*_ Kevin, thanks for sharing how to add webpages, but the program will not auto-hide on the left side of the screen in a reliable manner.

It has at times remained open (while I did other things on the computer) until I went back to the desktop and clicked on the "x" in the upper left of the program. In fact, it remains open as I type this post.

John Miesionczek Hello, I purchased this a few months ago and I want to know when it will be updated with more customization. I like the program which is like stardocs fences. Not the same but simular in features.
Thanks.

Awaiting Reply.

_*_ Kevin, can you share how to increase the size of the webpage icons within the program please? I have tried the slider, but it seems to not do anything. Thanks

Kevin Harris If the cabinet doesn't auto-hide you can press the ESC key.

We are currently working on a new native version for both Windows and Mac OS X but cannot give you an estimate of when they will be released.

To increase the size of the thumbnails you need to first select them and then use the slider.

Jason Howard If there is a new version being worked on - please seriously consider:

probably one of the most confusing (and unintuitive) aspects of the program. Cleaning up the desktop or dragging items into Beryoko still requires the original shortcut (in the same location to work).

If you drag a shortcut from your desktop or start menu into Beryoko, windows should either move or copy the icon and the details it needs to the destination (Beryoko). What actually appears to happen Berokyo just creates a link to the original shortcut (effectively a shortcut to a shortcut). If you check the Properties-Target of the shortcut in Beryoko it is the *.lnk file on your desktop, not the *.exe file that the *.lnk file points to.
If you then delete or rename the original shortcut, the link is broken, and Beryoko cannot launch that program.

This extra level of indirection only confuses what should be a simple task. Even windows explorer doesn't work that way - if you right drag a shortcut into a new folder, the properties of the new shortcut point to the original program and not to the shortcut.

The alternative the help file gives is to move all of your desktop icons into a new folder on your desktop called "Desktop Items" and then drag (copy) all of those icons into Beryoko.

You then leave that "Desktop Items" folder of shortcuts on your desktop. If you delete it, move it or rename it (or change the contents of that folder) any of the links in Beryoko that point to it will break.

There were a few times early on - when I set up Beryoko just how I wanted, and then cleaned up the other shortcuts on the desktop, and found that in the process I killed the links in Beryoko... definitely frustrating.

As I said the other day - there are many functionality and usability improvements that still need to be made before Berokyo on windows approaches where it should be.

With free lifetime upgrades... I really hope it won't be another year or two before the "intentions" eventuate of releasing an upgrade that addresses the issues and wishes raised by customers and developers.

Berokyo could be a really good product, the idea is great, the foundation is mostly there - but behind the polished appearance, the final experience the user gets after an hour or two use will seem lacking.
