What are people saying about Bitport.io

Jo Ann Rice So the license restricts you to 3 months, and the website is conveniently down so we cannot verify anything about this software at all. I think I'll pass. It looked promising till i read the last sentence about being used only for 3 months. Sounds like another subscription based license which are getting way too popular these days. :/

disenchanted Is this program similiar to the Streamza program offer, that was available here on BDJ about a month ago?

Which program exactly does today's offer correspond to?

Is it the "Standard" offer?

Jo Ann Rice Same question as disenchanted. now that the website is up and we can actually see what the information details are of the plans, this offer doesn't tell you what plan it's for and since there is a free version to start with, the plan this offer is for should be listed. Either way it still sounds like a glorified (unless it's the lower plans that is) trial period, but we should at least know which trial period it is for.

Constantin Florea On this page:
https://bitport.io/pricelist
you can see that the price of the Standard version is 10USD per month.

However that is for the annual plan. If you were to buy individual months (as is the case here, 3 months), it would cost you 12USD per month. So for the three months period it would cost you 3 x 12USD = 36 USD. With this promotion you get the 3 months for 10USD instead of 36USD.

Neil User I have been using Bitport for a little more than a year ever since I was sent a DMCA notice from my ISP. It has been reliable, easy to use, and I can download multiple torrents at once. I highly recommend it. The site replaces the need to have a torrent client running on your computer, and hides your torrent activity from your ISP and the torrent trolls who are out to make a buck through lawsuits over copyright infringement.

Gonzo Just to clarify (based on what I read about this): this is NOT a program; it's a service.
Think of it as a Mega.nz account, where you can put a magnet or torrent link and they'll download that torrent to your account directly, then you can "stream" it from any browser.
They give you X amount of storage (depends on your plan); then you can download and stream all you want, as long as you don't exceed that storage limit (ie. as long as you delete stuff, you can keep downloading all you want).
I took a quick look at their website and help, and only see reference to streaming Video. It would be nice if they added support for streaming music, opening documents (word, excel, etc), and maybe even preview compressed files (zip, rar, etc).

Patrik User Hey, Everybody.
I saw there was some issue with our website not running. I'm not aware of that.
There may have been some local issue for the user (I'm sorry Jo Ann,)

Thanks Constantin for the clarification on the features.

And Finally, yes Gonzo. We are indeed an online service and your description is quite correct.Just a small correction - you can also stream MP3 files using Bitport:)

mix624 Hi,

What is the renewal price after a year?

John User This sounds pretty good and I would also like to know if without a deal like this would renewal be around $150/yr?

Also, it would be great to have a chance to try this out somehow before springing for 12 months.

John User I was ready to send in my payment for a year because I was initially impressed.

But...

The first thing I thought about when I read this was STREAMZA which (for me anyway) was a mess.

However, with Bitport I selected a 4 disc set of 80 songs and a total of 675 mb. It was easy to paste the link in and after a short time it picked up speed to a max of 5mb/s but averaged around 2.5mb/sec. The download took about 5 minutes total. The interface will take some time getting used to, but that is expected.

Whoops, my torrent just finished and when I tried to download as a Zip file, I got the following message: "ZIP could not be downloaded because it contains a virus infected files."

Sorry, but this just hasn't happened to me before using trackers and a VPN.

Any advice?

Patrik User Hi John,

that is because one of your files was flagged by our antivirus. That means it has a high probability that it contains a virus that could harm you. (Bitport scans files for our users to be sure they are secured). But if you are sure that there is no malware inside, you can use FTP to download it. If you contact me on infobitport.io, I can help you with the FTP.

John User OK, I will take you up on your offer and contact you later today as I am interested in this.

I will say I just randomly picked a torrent from one of the most popular tracker sites (1337x) and that one has a high probability of a virus? I have been using this site for years and never picked up a virus or malware. But maybe this one was bad.

So, I will contact you about how to use FTP to download on your site.

Thanks for the response!
