If you'll look at your BJD / BoilSoft receipt you'll see this:

Sure enough, when I put MY name in the registration it failed - just like yours did. BUT when I entered bitsdujour as the Registration Name it registered just fine.

David Vaughan System requirements do not indicate Windows 8 (32 or 64-bit) compatibility. Possibly because Microsoft's own DirectX Runtime - that Boilsoft requires to be installed - has not been updated to support Windows 8? Does anyone know more about this? When might it become compatible? Is it working on your Windows 8 computer? 32 or 64?

jens hougaard yes Penny Logan I did register with bitsduJour and code.
as far as I remember I have not registered a boilsoft product before.
some compagnies only accept that you get 1 promotion. The method is either a special regcode in registry or a file hidden on on your pc.
ex : Fileminimizer hides a file and then prevents that you get another offer. Mark folder is another app witch can be difficult to reactivate.

But it is not possible for me to activate Video Joiner.
Instead I can run video joiner in xp mode which I have installed in windows 7.

noel tee I used to have this software from this site sometime back. For reasons unknown to me, it just reverted back to an unregistered copy after some months. May I know then if this version now will remain registered for life or would it expire also afterwards? Thank you!

Software Babe I purchased this software over a year ago and it has not failed me. Love it. Those who want to compare this type of app, should also try Video to Video (portable or full install). Video to Video also has a video(s) joiner within it, along with a converter and proper codecs. But, I do really like Boilsoft's! In fact, I think Boilsoft is faster to join the same number files as Video to Video.

wts Caution - today's version shows 6.57 per the beginning of the install, which I then cancelled. The version that I installed on 9/6/14 is 7.02.2, which appears to be the latest. Per http://www.boilsoft.com/news.html the latest is 7.02.1 from 1/18/13.

Boilsoft (what a strange name, even for a Chinese company) does not have anything newer than that on their news page. Note I have not researched them further or looked on any of their other language pages to find one that's better maintained.

Borna User Installed and registered without problems.Simple and ugly UI.There are 2 ways to merge-DIRECT stream clone(fast with quality output,works only with same formats) and ENCODE mode.Tried to ''join'' 15 different mp4 videos with DIRECT mode-NO WAY.Even when I found 2 videos with same codec,frame size and frame rate it didn't works (maybe audio must have same codec,bit & sample rate).So I tried with ENCODE mode.Very,very slow,but after ''some'' time it managed to convert 3 MP4 clips to one.Output quality is disaster.But it can be used as video pixelizer (yes output result is that ''good'' :) ). Uninstalled via reboot.

William W. Geertsema I already had previous Bits du Jour versions, the most recent was 7.02.2.
In order to get lifetime upgrades, I now took the lifetime upgrade offer for $ 10.48.
I was surprised to receive version 6.27 build 136, which at first annoyed me.
After some thought and experimentation (and with the aid of the valuable comment by "wts"), I came to the conclusion that 7.02.1 and 7.02.2 were identical to 6.27, except for a 14-day installation limit.

If I am right, this should have been made clear on the Bits du Jour page.
If I am wrong, there is something severely amiss with this offer.

Constantin Florea I am sorry about the confusion regarding the installed version. The version of the product which gets installed is 7.02.2. It is true that the version which the installer shows is version 6.57. It seems this is a bug because the version shown by the installer should be 7.02.2 as well.

A brief description of the convoluted way in which I finally was able to download and install the unlimited upgrade version of Boilsoft Video Joiner:

1. I purchased the unlimited upgrade version.
2. An email I received provided me with the license key for that version, and a link to download the program.
3. The link to download the program made me download what proved to be version 6.27 build 136, which is not what I wanted.
4. On the assumption (probably correct) that the license key I received would also allow registering forthcoming versions, I completely uninstalled version 6.27 (with Revo Uninstaller).
5. I then returned to the Bits du Jour page and downloaded the (no-upgrades) version 7.02.2.
6. I installed 7.02.2.
7. I did not receive an email with a new license key for 7.02.2.
8. Instead, I registered 7.02.2 with the license key I had received for the unlimited upgrade version. That worked, which was confirmed by the "About" option.

All in all, it took me a couple of hours to get what I paid for. I hope this helps others with the same problem.

Michael R. Reading the description, it seems BVJ does not re-encode clips, if the output-format is exactly the same as the format of these clips. Only the clips with a different format are (and have to) reencoded.

Can you confirm that?

Is it possible to define the output-format of the resulting video QUICKLY as the format of a specific video-format. i.e. is it possible to just enter the video-file which format is than used, instead of manually entering all the parameters (and making BVJ reincode all, if just a single parameter differs)?

In my example, I have some clips c1.avi, c2.avi and c3.avi (with the very same format) and want to add a prefix pre.mp4, postfix post.mp4 and between the clips a certain intermediate clip in.mp4 , all with different formats. The resulting format should be the format of the cx.mp4 files.

So, in my mind I JUST WOULD HAVE TO choose pre.mp4, c1.avi, in.mp4, c2.avi, in.mp4, c3.avi, post.mp4 and as output-format-reference-file I would choose c1.avi to create an output-video-file out.avi.

So, is this the way it works (or is it more complicated)?

Since no answers from BoilSoft until now - might be, because it*s weekend - I got the free registered version and checked it for myself in a fast way, so I might have overseen something.

After having added two video-files and decided to join them, a window is opened which allows to choose one of two modes: Without reencoding and with reencoding.

Without reencoding is only choosable, if all the videos have equal format.

With reencoding the user can choose the format, he wishes; in the registered version there are also .avi, .flv, etc. available to choose from.

To answer my questions from above, myself I would say.

If there are at least two video-files with different formats, the reencoding-mode has to be used, which suggests, that ALL video-files are reencoded, no matter, if there are some with exactly the same format as the output-file or not. This feature-request should be implemented in a next version.

I did not find any way, to define the output-format as 'the format of a choosable video-file'. If I want it to be this way, I have to analyse this video-file by myself and enter the parameters of the format manually.

Finally, also a bar, displaying in different colors, which part of the output is about to be reencoded and which not, would be useful.

I think these requests are quite useful, since implementing these, which should not be extremely difficult - is it? - would result in a best-possible output...

Since this is essential for me - better have multiple files than poor quality - I'll stay with the current version - , but if a next version would contain these two requests, I will gladly purchase next time.

Also, a comment from Boilsoft and a positive confirmation would be appreciated...
