Petr I went to the website and downloaded the BulkZip software, installed on my Windows 8.1 computer with SSD drive, 32gb RAM and i7 processor. BulkZip crashes every time I try to run it. I uninstalled it. Too bad, it sounds like a great way to save space. Now, I've lost confidence.

Cary Adams Seems misleading as I see "RARLAB" logo shown prominently, yet there appears to be no ability to create RAR files (but only to decompress RAR files). Did I miss something?

Also the installer is overly aggressive and by default commandeers 30 file associations. To prevent this, one must uncheck 30 boxes individually, There should be a "deselect all" option, or better, have no file associations preselected.

Petr Philipp,
Thanks for getting on the crash issue quickly. Unfortunately, I've uninstalled it and so can't send any screenshots of the bug behaviour. I'll describe here:
After the install on my computer, the install wizard finishes and I have the checkbox to launch Bulkzip checked. First time it runs, a small Windows dialog comes up and says the program crashed. Then dialog is shown only a few seconds and is gone. I tried starting Bulkzip from my start menu. Same crash.
It seems to me, almost like I'm running a version of the program not compiled for my system. Since I'm running 64bit Windows 8.1 Pro on my Lenovo Thinkpad, that not likely as I can execute 32 or 64 bit programs. Hope this helps. I don't want to risk re-installing it on my main system. If you give me a free license, I'll help you debug it on my other Lenovo ThinkPad. Both laptops are the "workstation" configuration with i7 CPUs.

Mike Lively I am getting the same crash on startup. I sent an email to the address above with images of the two windows. I am running windows 8.1 64 bit on a Dell laptop.

Petr I will wait to see what others report before trying it again. I would have more confidence in the company and their "data security and backup" software if they had tested it completely before releasing it.

Once files are backed up or archived using their proprietary compression scheme, the software MUST work on every other Windows computer to be able to have no problems recovering / unArchiving the data. I would need proof that BulkZip works correctly on several other Windows configurations before risking my data to this software. My time and my data is worth more than the $10 price for BulkZip.

I suggest that your company do these tests and publish the results here, showing which versions of Windows (both 32 and 64 bit) and which CPUs have been tested and verified. I would consider trying this software again if you can provide such confidence. Thank you.

Greg Vernon I purchased this software and downloaded. When I try to install BulkZip my Norton Security detects "WS.Reputation.1" and deletes the installation file.

Philipp Elhaus Hi, its a known false positive. We whitelist each build at the most popular Antivirus Products. As the build is new, it may take some time till its registered with Norton.
