What are people saying about BurnAware Professional

Retired Engineer I have Blu-Ray disks, a Blu-Ray disk player, and a small LCD monitor with HDMI cable input. I also have a large LCD monitor which does not have an HDMI input. What I would like to do is make a 100% faithful copy of Blu-Ray disks on my PC's internal hard drives; and then play this copy on my non-HDMI monitor with full fidelity.

In other words, I want to play Blu-Ray movies through my non-HDMI monitor with 100% fidelity.

Is this scheme workable and support by BurnAware Professional?

Peter Hirsch Total piece of crap. It cost me a blank DVD to find out, it made a copy alright but but would not play.

I already uninstalled mine.

DiggerP @Peter Hirsch,

Quote: "Total piece of crap" .
Don't you think you're overstating your findings?
Without defending the capabilities of the software ,or lack thereof,
there are some factors you have to consider.

There's a wide range of burners and discs and not all are compatible or have the desired functionality.
See here http://www.burnaware.com/faq.html#q9
" 4. My DVD player cannot play a DVD-Video created with BurnAware, what can I do?

A.) Some DVD players are unable to play RW discs; in this case using +R or -R may help. Please note that BurnAware is NOT DVD authoring software, so video files will be recorded in DVD-Video mode but not converted. If your recorder doesn't support video files, the DVD won't be played."

It shows you again that all software should be tried for compatibility with your system and hardware before purchase and in this case includes CDs or DVDs as well.

While you consider it "crap" ,it's not something that should be expressed as a general opinion.

Brian H Hi Everyone. Just wanted to jump in with some quick info, re: the program. There is a very good review at the "TopTenReviews" website here: http://dvd-copy-software-...ional.html. They had most good things to say about the program in general; however they point out that the program does not offer many more benefits than what is already built into the standard Windows operating system burning program. They said the one thing BAP does offer that is rather unique is the ability to burn more than one disc at a time. Here is a summary of the "Topten" review: "Windows already offers a great burning solution built into its operating system that will copy and burn ISO files and even make the discs bootable as well, so the only significant difference between this software and what Windows offers is the option to burn more than one disc at a time." Hope this helps. Sure wish vendors offering programs here on BDJ would have a spokesperson or representative available, at least during the actual day of the deal, to address potential customer's questions and concerns. I don't mind doing my own research, so it is not a huge problem for me; however I am sure the lack of a company rep on deal day is a "deal breaker" for some potential customers- especially for those less "tech-savvy" or with less available time to do their own research related to the programs being offered. Just my $0.02, as a software consumer. -Brian

Gonzo "You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards."
I recently finished testing Windows 8 as my main OS, and will be going back to Windows 7 doing a clean install within next month (have to do some backups and stuff first).
Does this mean I will not be able to install/register the software after the day I buy it? Isn't that kind of a ripoff? I mean, I'm a customer, paying for a license to USE the software... and you won't even let me install/register at a later day after my purchase?
I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding, but I thought I made my point to show how it looks like with the wording being used.

Persisto Someone please explain this: "You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards."

I really want to buy but I am afraid that I won't be able to re-install after I format or re-install on a new computer!
