What are people saying about Buzz Folders Pro

Harald Vogel Hello,

thanks for bringing BF to Bitsdujour. Will you also offer the Pro Elite / Extreme version?

Jun 11 2012 at 3:24pm Copy Link

Daniel Jackson Hi Harald,

Good question!
It's just the Pro version. Of course if you get this deal, you can easily upgrade to Pro Elite / Extreme. You'll still enjoy a very healthy saving - about 44% off.

Thanks,
Daniel

Glen Hilton Hi, just wondering if the Pro Elite version be offered on deal day as well as the Pro?. Thanks.

Jason Howard After 12 months - what is the deal to continue receiving updates?

Jun 11 2012 at 5:05pm Copy Link

Daniel Jackson Hi Jason,

There are no plans to charge for updates. The "official update policy" is 1 year. In practice, updates have remained free. Buzz Folders customers from 2010 are still getting free updates 2 years on.

It's most likely you'll still be receiving free updates after 12 months.

Thanks,
Daniel

Harald Vogel Hello Daniel,

thanks for your quick answer. But why is the price difference between Pro / Elite £10 but the upgrade price £12,99? It would be nice if you could offer Elite here for $25 for people who directly would go for Elite (like me! ;-)))

Jun 12 2012 at 3:09am Copy Link

Daniel Jackson It's just the Pro version on sale. Everything is in place.

Harald, I know you want to be sure you're getting the best price for Elite, and I promise this is the absolute best deal you'll find.

Anyway, upgrading is fun! Have fun with Pro for a while and you can anticipate and enjoy the added pleasure of upgrading to Elite. :)

Serendipity Nodes - Jun 12 2012 at 12:51pm Copy Link

Glen Hilton Hello Daniel, from your previous reply it would appear that this offer is the best option to obtain the latest elite version for the best price at later date via your site upgrade option. That's fine, though I need to trial the elite version to find out if purchasing this version is worthwhile, however, I am unable to locate a download link for both versions on your site. The only info I can locate is your comparison chart and latest forum post details/screenshots. Do you have a elite trial version we can test. Thanks.

Jun 12 2012 at 6:09pm Copy Link

Daniel Jackson Glen, I've added the Elite demo version to the download page.
+ a demo for Buzz Folders Extreme.

Glen Hilton Hi Daniel, just downloaded. Looks good so far. Thank you.

Richard Andersen Will the extreme version include everything from the other versions + more? And when do you expect to release it? Will there be an upgrade path from Elite to Extreme in case it takes a while before it's released, and what do you expect it to cost?

Jun 13 2012 at 11:58am Copy Link

Daniel Jackson Hi Richard, Buzz Folders Extreme is available to all Elite customers right now. It includes all the essential features + more.
The official release should be this summer - expect to get it before September. It's pretty much ready, once the help file is written we're good to go!
The price new will be close to that of the current Elite license. Of course it's a free upgrade to all Elite customers.

Richard Andersen Thank you, sounds good. I've been using File-Ex in XP for some years, but they seem to have stopped development so no Vista or Win 7 version. Been looking for a Win 7 compatible replacement and Buzz Folders seem to work almost the same way and do the same things so this is great!

Mike K Does it support Total Commander like DirectFolders?

Jun 14 2012 at 1:30am Copy Link

Daniel Jackson Hi Mike, Total Commander is not supported. Sorry.

Hilary User Hm...

What exactly is Win32/Packed.Autoit.H, and why is it part of the trial download of BuzzFolders? Opinions seem to vary as to whether it's just going to install unwanted toolbars and the like, or is a fully-fledged Trojan.

Jun 14 2012 at 7:08am Copy Link

Hilary, I see you're new to BitsDuJour! We partner with our software vendors directly here and only ever feature reputable applications that we can verify. It's all pre-arranged and tested, and we decline a lot of submissions that we get. You'll never find a trojan here and we have a five year record on that.

We actually have met a lot of our software vendors face-to-face at conferences and meetups, they're a great bunch and we're happy to support them!

BitsDuJour Admin - Jun 14 2012 at 7:15am Copy Link

Richard Andersen @Hilary

Appears to be a PUA (Possibly Unwanted Application). I.e. applications that contain code that is commonly used by viruses and trojans, but which is harmless in itself and used in many programs for completetely normal and legal activities. Several programs I've written myself have actually been reported as being PUAs at virustotal.com. More here:

Daniel Jackson Hilary, the trial download is perfectly safe. Thanks for your concern!

Serendipity Nodes - Jun 14 2012 at 9:10am Copy Link

Hilary User Thanks for looking it up for me!

Jun 14 2012 at 10:02am Copy Link

Tim Smith Does Buzz Folders have the equivalent feature to Direct Folders' "clickswitch" does anyone know? Cannot see it in the features list.

Jun 14 2012 at 10:17am Copy Link

Edward Smith Nico, I think your answer to Hilary is a little unfair.

I am NOT new and have purchased well over 30 programs from you (30+ recorded and perhaps another 10 before I registered), and I trust you completely, nor have I ever had any problem with any Bits endorsed program.

BUT ESET is registering it as malicious.

(Buzz Folders\Buzz_Folders_Installer_P30_1654.exe » INNO » file0000.bin » AUTOIT » script.au3 - Win32/Packed.Autoit.H).

I would not dream of installing this without an explanation of why ESET is flagging it. I DO trust you but I DO trust ESET too.
Stalemate until someone can explain what that is and why it is packed in the installer.

Jun 14 2012 at 11:10am Copy Link

Daniel Jackson Hi Tim, I'm always open to suggestions for new and useful features. A number of really great features in Buzz Folders were added after hearing user suggestions.

Serendipity Nodes - Jun 14 2012 at 11:21am Copy Link

Richard Andersen @Edward - see my explanation. If you test it at virustotal.com you'll see that only one AV program flags it.

Jun 14 2012 at 11:35am Copy Link

Edward Smith Richard, thanks. I did see your reply, and that helps, but since you are not the author of this software, you do not know what purpose it serves in THIS application.

Since ESET and other's are flagging it, it is not unfair as a consumer and the protector of my computer and my information, to ask the vendor what purpose the "potentially unwanted" item serves in THIS program.

The vendor has not addessed my concern (although I guess I did not address it to them) and Hilary asked two a very specific questions:
1) What exactly is Win32/Packed.Autoit.H
2) Why is it part of the trial download of BuzzFolders
only to be told merely "it is perfectly safe."

That is not an appropriate answer. That more than anything raises a red flag to me.

I'll be passing on this.

Jun 14 2012 at 11:54am Copy Link

Daniel Jackson Thanks Richard.

Hi Edward, It's unfortunate that some AV programs gave false alarms.

Buzz Folders does track your folders - but that's what it's designed to do.

There are no added extras. And the file hasn't been modified since I created it.

Serendipity Nodes - Jun 14 2012 at 12:06pm Copy Link

We've seen false positives in downloads before guys, unfortunately it's very common.

Lindsay Aldred Hello...
I am trying to Buy. Clicking the BUY Now button takes me to a popup window giving info about the price varying according to exchange, etc.; clicking OK on this window takes me to a window telling me that " The server at buzzfolders.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed." Have tried many times over the past several hours, and it is always the same. Also tried to download the trial, but I cannot access the trial download - same message about the DNS lookup failed.. Must be a problem with my computer, but it is only happening here with this particular instance. Meanwhile the timer is ticking away the countdown... Any suggestions very much appreciated, please?

Jun 14 2012 at 1:18pm Copy Link

It's working fine for us Lindsay. Try a different browser and if that does not work try flushing your DNS. Here's how:

BitsDuJour Admin - Jun 14 2012 at 1:20pm Copy Link

Tim Smith Thanks - I shall join the Buzz forum and post the clickswitch feature it in the suggestions section. If you think it's something that you *will* be able to do, I'll grab myself a copy now while it's a bargain price! ;)
