What are people saying about Capture Boss

Peter Sarro I installed the trial on my Vista 64-Bit system (4 Processors, 8 GiG Ram). After installation, error message kept appearing saying that compressor was "incompatible". Had to use Task Manager to kill process in order to remove application. I did not try this on Windows XP but this app does not appear to be compatible with Vista.

Alex Ferri 'Compressor incompatible' means that you have selected a video codec that is not compatible either with the audio codec or with the video source. Open the 'Record Settings' dialog and change the compression settings, or set it to record in WMV. You will see that it will work.

Alex Ferri I just got your uninstall survey where you explained it was just the audio it would not record and that happens on Windows Vista when the audio line is disabled or not connected. You just have to right-click over the speaker icon on your system tray, open 'Recording Devices', and change your recording device status.

John H I have given the trial version a try. It truly records everything. Even that which I thought unrecordable. It also appears to do more than I would ever need which makes the user interface difficult. Could you post simple instructions for just capturing a simple video without the surrounding windows.
Thank You

Alex Ferri Sure, just select a profile that records the desktop, and click OK, then click the crop button on the main toolbar next to the 'take picture icon', set the frame-rate to 30 fps, and then select the region of the screen you want to record the video from, click OK, start the video you want to record, and click the record button. That is it. Let me know if you need any further help.

John H Just spent my Saturday Afternoon climbing the learning curve of 1AVCapture.

1AVcapture is not like other programs that download the video directly from a website; such as VideoGet or Miro. But the download programs have to be constantly updated due to websites working to block them. 1AV will capture whatever is on your screen.

It makes great quality captures if you take the time to try the various settings. It runs great on my 64bit Vista laptop. The Realtek Audio card will not allow any direct recordings from the sound card. It does this with other recording programs also. But amazingly, the built in microphones record from the speakers with an acceptable quality. This is a problem with my computer and not the program.

On My old IBM XP Thinkpad, 1AVcapture works great and is able to record directly from the sound card. The DVD player hogs the resources and and makes DVD recording difficult but appears to be workable. It records great off the web which allows 1AVCapture to have all the computing power it needs.

Great Program ... now to find my credit card!

fran harter Hi,

I have a few questions.

1. How does the recording abilities of this compare to programs like Camtasia?
I used camtasia V3, and Camtasia Studio V3, but was unhappy that it sometimes did not record audio (within video I wanted to capture, which was playing on my PC's desktop).

Therefore I was interested in your software's recording capabilities.

2. I take online educational courses from time to time and
some will only give a student access for a specific timeframe; such as 30 days or 60 days.
[I would rather capture the video for later review, than have to try and write down notes].
I like to capture the streaming video and burn it to CD; so I can take it with me when traveling or wherever I might take my laptop to.

If I have a browser window up, watching a single streaming video, will this application capture the video & audio from he streaming video?

3. Under the old comments, from March 4th,2009 it was mentioned that a USB drive version would be forthcoming.

a. Is a flash drive version available yet?

b. If so, will it be a purchase option during this upcoming sale?

------------[Quote from March 4th]----------------------
Alex Ferri (PCWinSoft Systems Ltd Developer) Says:

We plan to launch a version of 1AVCenter that will run from a Flash drive. Since you have purchased you will receive an e-mail with the updates every time a new version of 1AVCenter is released, so I will keep you posted.

Alex Ferri Hi.

1. As far as recording capabilities go, 1AVCapture is very similar to Camtasia, except 1AVCapture can compress the video capture on the go which means that when you press stop you already have the final compressed result.

2. Yes, it will.

3ab. No, it is not. It is still planned but it has not yet been scheduled for implementation.

Frank Kasperski Sirs,

I downloaded your 1AVcenter demo, to
"try it" before it goes on sale tomorrow.

I have a 2 month old PC: with an AMD Phenom II quad-core,
4 GB ram, 750GB hard drive, 256MB Radeon HD 2600 pro video card and windows Vista ultimate [32-bit]

I tried to do a "record video from websites and media sources to AVI or WMV".

I get an error that says:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error connecting capture profile.
Reason: Compression settings or audio/video source incompatible.
COMPRESSION:OFF
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went to your website to look up the error. But
I did not notice any knowledgebase under the support category section of your website.

Questions:
1. Does this application work with vista ultimate?

2. Any idea what is wrong?

3. An incompatible video component ?

4. Incompatible audio component?

The software looks promising, and I was planning to buy it tomorrow, but so far it isn't working for the intended use I wanted to get it for.

Thanks in advance.
Aug 27 2009 at 4:10pm Copy Link
0
Alex Ferri It is most probably an imcompatible audio component as you asked. Windows Vista has changed the audio capture system and not in a better way, but the solution is fairly simple.

To be sure select the profile that records the desktop without audio. If it works it is the audio for sure, and what you need to do is enable your audio lines.

See this URL to learn how to do it:
http://www.pcwinsoft.com/...oblem.html

Let me know if it worked.

Michael R Is it possible to just record a single application / window with only the sound-output coming from this application and no other sound of any additional currently runnig application?
Dec 3 2009 at 4:51pm Copy Link

Alex Ferri I don't believe that is technically possible. What you can do of course is turn off Windows sounds, and run the application alone, and record it. 1AVCapture can record a selected window.

Dec 4 2009 at 4:09pm Copy Link

NotesTracker - Tony Austin It works fine from the primary monitor, but as soon as you want to record from secondary monitors (of which I have three) it does not "play nicely" and gets very confusing to operate. For example, the region selection crosshairs don't necessarily appear on the monitor containing the region you wish to record, and you have to mess around with the various windows involved (1AVCapture and/or user application windows) to get the desired effect. I am just about to purchase the product, but these rough edges for multiple monitor support need to be cleaned up!
Dec 4 2009 at 6:42pm Copy Link

Alex Ferri Yes, it can, but you have to turn off Windows video hardware acceleration. You can change this setting from inside 1AVCapture, or you can do it through your Display Settings.

Louis H I have been using this company's 1AVCenter product since December of 2009 and remain very happy with it's overall performance and output.

I have tried a few other screen capture programs - Snagit, Total Video Recorder, and one other I simply cannot remember (yes, it really was that forgettable!!) - and my best results have always been with 1AVCapture (which is part of the larger suite of utilities sold as 1AVCenter. I actually bought 1AVCapture and within a very short time upgraded to the full suite of utilities - 1AVCenter.)

Part of what I do for a hobby is create slideshows and I like to use various film clips of some of the eye-candy screen toys and visualization programs I own (Like G-Force, PhotoEchoes, and most recently the ability to cycle through a lot of photos, creating a flip-book effect, using the image viewing capacities of another recent BitsDuJour offering - SideWinder,) I am using Win 7 Professional (64 bit) with 4GB ram. An ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 graphics card. with an Intel Core2Duo T9550 2.66Ghz system and consistently get high quality output video files for use in my slideshows.

While I cannot guarantee everyone will get the same quality output i do, i am very comfortable with encouraging folks who are looking for such a program to give this one a try. I have not needed to contact Customer support recently, but following my purchase last December I found them very quick to respond to my questions and very willing to work with me in finding solutions to my concerns.

Louis H I highly recommend folks visit this company's website and take a look at all of the products they offer as you might find, as I did, that you want or need more features than those included with 1AVCapture. They offer free trials on all their products and offer a great deal within the first day of each trial.

And they are offering a free version today of one of their more specialized programs (Not 1AVCapture) at another site that offers daily give aways.

I really do like this software and I appreciate the folks behind the company for their help and assistance in the past. And I highly recommend their full suite of utilities 1AVCenter.

Regarding licensing: Yes, licenses can be transferred and you can register the software on all your personals PCs.

Uninstall 1AVCapture
Remove 1AVCapture instatll folder
Then remove these 2 registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PCWinSoft\1AVCapture
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PCWinSoft\1AVCapture

Then reboot and reinstall, see if resolves the issue.

"2 ) Yes, if the source allows pausing then hot keys can be used to start stop pause and restart recording."

When you say "if the source allows pausing, what does this mean?

For example if I capturing my screen and recording my voice to create a training video and I want to "pause" the recording to take a break, can I do this and then come back and resume recording and screen capture?

r if I am capturing my screen which is showing an online webinar and the presenter takes a break, can I pause the recording and screen capture and resume the same recording when the presenter returns?

CJCotter What? No MP4 output? Oooo, sorry to see that. Windows media files can get quite large.
Is there a time limit or file size limit on what is recorded? The things I need to record are 2-4 hours long. Please advise. Thank you.

Alex Ferri If you choose to record in Windows Media Format you can set size and quality according to your needs. You can edit the profile that will be used to record the video. Go to 'Record Settings', check the box 'WMV/WMA', click the button 'Encoder', then select a pre-configured profile, edit it, or create a new one. The parameters you can change can fit your exact size and quality requirements.

Is the program able to record video and it's associated audio directly without using a microphone?

disenchanted I have several such programs .
I had gotten techsmith camtasia and snag it when appsumo had them at 50% off.
I bought iavcapture here on sale on BDJ.
I bought litecam by innoheim.com during sales like thanksgiving or Christmas, I forget which.

A few times I had problematic audio issues with camtasia and snag it.
Once or twice with 1avcapture, but they did provide several suggestions to test and even a hardware workaround. Great tech support with 1av products.
Litecam was least problematic as they used a customize codec of their own creation.
When I had those audio issues years ago, What threw me initially was that I have 3 different computers with three different audio chipsets, so I knew it was something audio and SOFTWARE related and not hardware. Either audio drivers and/or codecs.
(Hard to have the same issues on 3 different pc's with 3 different hardware setups).

I still use both 1avcapture and litecam to save off most download streaming videos. I have several computers, laptop and desktop, so I use whichever program is on the pic I'm using . For the most part I am happy with the results of both programs. I used snagit a lot for grabbing screen captures.
The innoheim's answer to camtasia is camverse. Worth a look if you need to add mark up to projects, like camtasia can.
Besides 1avcapture I also have their full bundle which I think is called 1avcenter.

Alex Ferri The promotion is now for a lifetime license of 1AVCapture. If you purchase 1AVCapture on today's promotion you will get a lifetime license of 1AVCapture. keep in mind that you will receive your normal order notification right after purchase and the lifetime license confirmation e-mail within 12 hours of the regular order e-mail.

Alex Ferri Response to Marli: Uninstall 1AVCapture. Then create a folder under your drive C named 1AVCapture. Then install it and choose this folder as the target for installation. Check if it works.

E User I was able to redownload following the instructions that were provided and I was able to load the software. However, how do I get the key for the 1 year license? I went to my dashboard and in order to be sent the key through email I have to enter a hardware fingerprint. I don't know what that is. I wasn't sent a confirmation email with any info.

Bruce User Today's giveaway cannot be downloaded from the PCWinsoft website. When clicking on the "Capture Boss Giveaway License" link in the order page, you are taken to a page on the PCWinsoft website that asks you for a "keyword" that it can use to find the title you are looking for. This title does not exist on their website, in the manner that it is presented here on BDJ. They will, however, very helpfully try and sell you the SAME program, under the 1AVCapture Lifetime License title, though. How Helpful of PCWinsoft to offer a title that cannot neither be found on, or downloaded from, their website. And, yes, I did take screen shots to document this little "mistake."

Jim Buchanan Hi. Today I ordered and paid for Capture Boss Lifetime License and Video Split & Trim Lifetime License. The download for capture Boss was easy and straightforward, however, the link for Video Split & Trim License just sent me back to the Boss download. Weird but I now do not have a link to get Video Split and trim.
Any suggestions?

David Dockstader Refused to accept my file structure; could not make new subdirectories on my C:/ drive; could not write to my C:/ drive even when run as administrator; has no provision for altering any of it's predetermined file structure which doesn't match mine; and spent 45 minutes trying to create the file structure it wanted by continuously running the install program whereupon it would give me ANOTHER subdirectory that it needed. After all that time, it still couldn't write the files it wanted and I gave up. The program is entirely too inflexible to be of any use and I gave up.

Jim Buchanan Hi Alex Ferri,
i think you misunderstand what I meant when talking about Capture Boss. What I meant is that it downloaded properly and Video Trim did not get downloaded at all - which by the way is now downloaded onto my computer. Thanks for the link.
As for the key, I have not put either program on my computer as of yet. I had to watch the Hockey game Canada vs US of A. [Canada won 2 vs 1. They hung on in the last 5 minutes when the US really put the pressure on. It was a great game to watch - action both ways. I'm not sure when the key will come but I'll get to the installation later. Then I'll see. I hope it doesn't matter when I install the lifetime version.
Thanks for the link.

Cooler Lifetime licences (depending on what's considered lifetime) are nice... and basically a middle finger to those "1 year" limited licences. This is the way.

Unrelated:
For a few days I have received duplicate posts of daily deals from BDJ. If the ages old bug has surfaced again... I might have to unsub BDJ again. Granted, it's only been a couple of days, but it's getting annoying.
