What are people saying about CDRWIN 9

John H Nice program.

Any way for this to support variable bit rate when ripping mp3s?

Thanks

Steven Avery Hi,

wow.. Expected more chatter. This is an area where the freewares are very strong. Imgburn, Infrarecorder, CDBurnerXP and others.

I would need to know where CDRWIN9 has some extra strengths.

Thanks.

Steven

DrTeeth Whilst not interested in this offer, I did see that this company has a utility that brings back the start button to Win 8! Bookmarked [vbg].

Preston Mitchell CDRWIN 9 is a very good alternative to Nero and Ashampoo Burning Studio.

Nero and Ashampoo have become way too bloated (in comparison to older versions). But CDRWIN 9 is leaner and meaner, getting the job done nicely in W7 x64.

The developer Engelmann produces clean, high-quality software. Not all Engelmann titles are worth having. BUT PhotoMizer and VideoMizer are very excellent photo-video enhancement & special effects programs.

It is worth visiting this developer's website and looking over its line of software.

DrTeeth The interface of this software is GHASTLY, just like the original pastel-coloured theme in WinXP.

Amit On softpedia are noted these requirements -

· Around 15 MB of hard disk space for installing the program

· Several gigabytes of free storage space for recording and caching images (there should be at least 1 GB for CD images and between 5 and 17 GB for DVD images)

Do we have to really keep aside that much space (1gb - 17gb) - if so this software is just never even thinkable to be bothered about.
Typically when we use ssds as our primary main drive which are short on space already.

+

What advantages does it have over burnaware free which provides very robust burning and absolutely no errors on all media I have tried. I have tried some others too but burnaware did everything very well and spendidly. and it doesnt require any such space requirements.

disenchanted Is this software in any way related to the CDRWIN that was produced by goldenhawk technology like 10+ years ago?

The website for the older CDRWIN software is no longer accessible
(www.goldenhawk.com).

I just just wondering if this Engelmann Media GmbH software offering is a completely different product?

Or did they take over the golden hawk product and continue improving/updating it?

Thanks in advance.

Interesting that the developer has no comments in reply to the 8 older comments and questions listed here.

This is not a criticism of your software in any way. In fact, thank you for providing the opportunity to try it. Most of us here on Bits read the chatter and responses from developers as one of the ways to learn about the software and company, track improvements, user interest, etc. The more information the better.

Thanks again and thanks to BDJ too.

Neostar Okay after installing this software I can see 2 issues, the interface is awful and during installation it asked to deactivate anti-virus and firewall software, these 2 problems need to be fixed otherwise there is no point for this software as there are other options.

Doug Atkinson I had purchased this software after having tried a free version some time ago. I never minded the interface, and in fact liked it much better than some of the free tools, which I found overly complicated. Performance was good. Burns were good, and I don't recall getting any "coasters" (failed burns), at least none that stick out. On my system, for some reason the application would freeze up for a bit, seeming to wait for something in the DVD reader/writer to clear up. I have since moved on to another utility, but CDRWin is worth a look.

As to the asking to de-activate anti-virus, this is a common request from a lot of software. I usually just ignore it and with modern a-v software, there usually isn't an issue. They ask this because some aggressive A-V software will often block new software from connecting though the Internet, and end users will think that the installation software is to blame.

Dusty Pants The interface isn't that bad, in fact it is better than a lot of programs out there and less confusing just from what I can make out on screenshots. However I will give this a pass. Next time it comes around I might give it a shot because I plan on getting a bluray burner before Easter... I don't need software on my system I wont use taking up HD space.

Looks like variations in price going on right now, some in dollars, some in Euros. This is a copy, paste from their website about 2 minutes ago. Whatever the price, the offer here is free, the UI doesn't bother me. Thanks for your info.

"CDRWIN 10
More infoCopies and burns like the devil!
$9.99 $24.99" (the $24.99 contains strikeout characters-my comment here)
"Coupon code: 8MK-2S4-7DXDelivery:e-mailDelete"

I use Roxio for burning otherwise I would give it a try.

random user I remember when Golden Hawk CDRWIN was the "standard" prior to Nero coming on the scene (and eventually became bloatware). At that time, CDRWIN used a bin/cue pair. Is that still the case and if not, will version 9 still be able to read the bin/cue pairs I still have archived?

Ralph Bressler CDRWIN 10 is listed at $24.99 USD on their website. I can see no upgrade path or reduced price or discount to go from v9 to v10.

The code given above by James Evans DOES work as I just purchased CDRWIN 10 with it.

I do wonder. I had it installed to make sure my licences was activated before promo ends. Then I uninstalled, since I was working on other stuff. I just reinstalled it to check it out. Licences is not valid any more??? What??? Its still only half way through the promo. What is this?

rodken I already own this, so I can't comment on the installation from here.
I can comment on the software though. And the only reason I am is because this is Quality software that everyone should get while it is free (or even think about buying, version 10 that is).
Does exactly what it says it does! Never had a problem with it.
I don't care about upgrading to version 10 for a discount because 9 does everything I need it for. And why complain just for complaints sake.
I just had to comment because this is High Quality software being given away and really needs more positive comments than have been given.
Great soft! Thanks Engelmann Media and Bits! I already have it but I did pass on the info to those I could so they could grab this while it's free!
