According to the website all the items that the "Please Note Folks" message above includes, are all in the Professional version, yet this version doesn't have them

Christopher Dean I just checked the web site as well, and it looks like the Professional version is the one costing $79.95 -- so I'm assuming the version offered here is the Pro version. Check the bottom of this page: http://www.codelobster.com/order-ide.php

Edit: I just noticed that there is no lite any more and the Professional seems to be full one offered here.

but all plug-ins are paid and this whole configuration is named "Professional" and it costs $79.95.

Jo Ann Rice That's what I thought at first too till I read the note above that says that there are special plugins for many of the code types. Those are all included in the paid version on the website so I don't know what that message above means, but I never "assume" anything when it comes to software. Companies are too quick to try to sell things without giving full information these days.

Please confirm that this deal is in fact for the Professional Version with all plugins. Looking at the older comments, it seem unfortunate that this has to be clarified - again.

ron r I stopped using codelobster because of this.

The funds of the initial lifetime users and and forum contributions of the lifetime users helped to become what codelobster is now.

Now you just dropped the lifetime users and try to keep them happy with the 50% off. At least you could have honored the lifetime users with letting them keep the lifetime license, for example like malwarebytes did.
And there are other companies who did the same (switch to a yearly upgrade prices but still honour the lifetime users).

I understand that the lifetime business model isn't ideal for every product and I understand the switch but at least respect your initial users. 50% off won't do.

But this is all my opinion.

We proposed lifetime license when Codelobster PHP Edition includes 8 plug-ins only. But now CodeLobster IDE includes 20 plug-ins, and we need to keep all of them up to date. Therefor we decided to set annual payment $20 for it.

Robert User I agree with ron r above; 50% doesn't get me excited in the least. When a company ends a product in favor of a similar product, and that change cuts the original product user out of the picture, it is a warning that a similar thing may happen again in the future.

I submitted bugs over the course of the PHP edition development and into the IDE development. Without users that help the developer know about bugs, you cannot claim you did it all on your own, but you are not rewarding those that did help you get there. If you had simply allowed those original lifetime licenses to be transferred to the IDE edition but limit the plug-ins to the original 5 that was part of the PHP Pro edition, you would have a great group of loyal users that would easily say good things about the new product and company. To work things around with extra plug-ins that you feel you need to charge for, I do not think you can keep all of the original loyal supporters, or expect to have them say good things about the developer and product.

Users do not use every plug-in you can provide. The more you do add to the Pro edition, the smaller the percentage of each one's value. If you were to add an extra 200 plug-ins, do you think it would make the IDE that much more valuable, and therefore you would need to charge even more ... on an annual basis? You might pick up a few users here and there for each of the added plug-ins, but honestly, I cannot conceive how adding a few or a lot of plug-ins is convincing to users that the extra annual maintenance fee is worth it. Adding extra plug-ins should be your decision in hopes that it might entice some new users, but asking previous users to pay you to keep them maintained doesn't make sense to me unless they are needed by that user (and surely they don't need all that you add).

I don't use or need any of the plug-ins for the PHP edition or those provided in the IDE edition. Therefore, I would not be a burden for you to maintain the extra plug-ins.

You should transfer the original PHP Pro edition lifetime licenses to be the same for the IDE edition. All the original 5 plug-ins to remain for users that might need them. I don't need them.

If you cannot come to terms with allowing this type of license transfer, then that is your choice, but your choice has a great effect on how the original lifetime users of the PHP Pro edition will feel going forward. I will not recommend any of the CodeLobster products to anyone from this point on if you are firm in your decision as to how we are being treated. I will gladly explain to others my regrets that what I thought was going to be a lifetime great relationship between us, ended with CodeLobster deciding Lifetime was not Lifetime at all. I know from experience that does have an effect.
