What are people saying about CopyToDVD

Michael M I have been using Copy to DVD for about four years, in conjunction with my AnyDVD unlocking software from SlySoft. But I have been paying $40 for it [twice, because last year or so there was a major upgrade.]

This is a very good program. One of the easiest aspects of it is that in Windows Explorer you can highlight folders, right click the mouse and say to use "copy to DVD." The program interface then opens and you can copy the files to a CD or DVD.

You can also highlight DVD movies or files from your hard disk and tell Copy to DVD to "save as a DVD movie."

I own lots of DVD movies, probably have bought about 200 over the years [I know, that's a lot. I have them insured since they cost me so much]. Anyway, I was able to make backup copies of many of those DVDs, the ones that I treasure and would be very upset when they become non-functional [unless you don't use your DVDs, all of them will eventually get scratches and become unusable.]

Copy to DVD has improved over the years. I think one of the main features you need to look for is that a program will not crash, thereby making the DVD a coffee coaster. Back when DVDs were about $1 each, that was a big concern for me. Now it's not that big a deal, but you still don't want to waste time making copies, only to have the program fail.

In 2007 Copy to DVD has become very dependable and makes a very good all-in-one DVD and CD copy program. IMHO it is well worth Bit's $18 price. Yes, there are many freeware programs out there, but this developer has had years to refine the program and has done so. That makes it worth the price.

I buy lots of software each year. I try to save money where possible. [Hence belonging to bits.] A true test of a program's worth is if I break out the credit card to update or renew a program. I upgraded Copy to DVD in November 2006, for about $40.

Oh, for those concerned about having to upgrade every year or so, for a cost, my files indicate that I had not upgraded my Copy to DVD since October 2004. So having to pay another $40, or whatever the amount, was not a big deal. I think that VSO [makers of Copy to DVD] only charges for new version upgrades, such as 3.0 to 4.0
