Most screen capture programs are fine if you just want to take an image of what's on your screen to include in your document or presentation. The hard stuff comes when you need to add annotations or special effects! Out goes the screen capture app, in come the big gun photo editors, and the next thing you know, you've wasted hours trying to achieve simple callout boxes!

CrossGL SnapDraw is a dedicated screen capture program that takes screen captures to the next level! With CrossGL SnapDraw, not only can you add annotations and special effects by pointing and clicking, you'll also be able to capture the newest visual effects featured in Vista!

Everything that you wished you could do with screenshots is included with CrossGL SnapDraw! Arrange multiple screens in a single capture scene, adjust position and rotate your captures, add text and image watermarks, and implement your own backgrounds!

Annotations help you to bring even more information to your audience than just what's on the screen, and CrossGL SnapDraw provides quite a bounty. You can add labels, arrows, and numbers, or highlight portions of the screen using transparent shapes or geometric primitives, or even a magnifying lens! Once you're done setting up all of your annotations, you'll love CrossGL SnapDraw's ability to save your entire composition as a project that you can modify and reuse for all of your documents and presentations! Your finished, annotated screenshot can be saved as JPEG, PNG, BMP or JNG format!

Folks, version 3 of CrossGL SnapDraw has a number of new features, but the most exciting is the complete overhaul of it's screenshot annotation tools. The previously complicated settings have all been removed in favor of a new system of intuitive, ready-to-use annotation tools.

Prefer the old settings? Not a problem -- they're all preserved in a separately executable editor!

Jaap Aap LS,
(1) Would version 3 be available for a testdrive?
(2) Is the product capable of working with more than 2 monitors? I currently get only screencaptures of 2 out of the 3 monitors I have installed?
Thanks

Milan Marusinec @Jaap, (1) Yes, version 3.0 will be released very soon - day or two, Friday latest. I'm sorry for this inconvenience (I'm very tight on time).

(2) Technically it iterates through all monitors profiles to get the picture, so it should. Are your monitors all physical ? I will try to setup 3 monitors (1 of them virtual) and look at this issue. Thanks for spotting.

Jaap Aap Thanks Milan-FYI, the monitors are all physical. When the physical config from left to right is 1-2-3 I obtain a screenshot of the form 2-3-empty.

a a I''m interested in this, but would also like to check out the latest version 3 first. You mentioned it would be available on Friday, at the latest, but it's still not up yet.

Any update on release of version 3 (even a beta), as I would like a couple of days for testing before the offer goes live ?

a a When I try to run the new version 3, I get a dialog saying "License is compromised, CheckID", and so can't test it.

Milan Marusinec @a a, I've been trying to replicate this "compromised license" issue on my various machines, but it works for me. I am now also receiving a response from other people about program itself, and that indicates it works also for them. It may happened that the files on disk are corrupted causing such a messages, so I would advice to perform a clean new install.

Patrick N highly recommended program!
i'm testing the new release now milan, it looks great although bit confusing going from the old layout but i'm getting used (access violation while testing the external presets tool) i'll get back to you via support if i can replicate this, no point of taking it here at bdj.

snapdraw comes with some presets, it would be sweet if there was extra downloadable presets on your website in different categories, users could choose what they actually need or what they desire, i'm not very good creating them nore do i have the time so mostly i use the default presets.

purchased the last time presented here, a definate keeper..

a a I've found what the problem is. I have two User accounts setup on my PC, one Admin and one Standard User, and normally run as standard user. I also use Group Policy to only allow apps to run from the "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)". This means that I right-click on installers and choose "Run as Administrator" to install them under the Admin account (since the installer is not in one of the Program Files folders).

I did this for Cross GL and the installation was successful, with the desktop shortcut being placed in "C:\Users\Public\Desktop", so it was visible on my Standard User Desktop. Double-clicking on this desktop shortcut (ie. so it's run as Standard User) will then result in error I mentioned. However, right-clicking the desktop shortcut and choosing "Run as Administrator" will result in Cross GL running OK, without the error.

Let me know if you can't reproduce.

Milan Marusinec @a a, On the first run (right from installer), there might be a different path set than path of executable itself and that might break initial files configuration indeed. I will look this way if it might resolve the issue. Thanks.

Milan Marusinec @Patrick N, User downloadable preset tool packs is exactly the stuff I'm going to deal with. That's the reason I created for this a standalone dedicated tools editor - to allow for a wide variety of addons to come. Since the design is not bound to the program itself, any 3rd party can create the tools now. I envision a libraries of annotation tools styles - just pick your mood and style and create stunning screenshot artworks in moments ...

Patrick N fabulous milan, i'm looking forward to this & i'd like that very much. i will help generate some traffic for this promotion @bdj & your website, you deserve it. for a single developer changes from 2.5 to 3.0 are truly impressive within that short time. from older comments: @Upgrade policy, one-year of free updates and support per delivered license key (each key has a date of purchase embedded). Key doesn't expires - it just won't accept update file newer than 12 months. In the future, you can update anytime at 50% of initial purchase price (that will be just $7.4 of the current promotional $14.95!). that is also remarkably kind & affordable for all have a great salesday now

Frank Stephens CrossGL SnapDraw is a great tool for annotation.  I've been using the 2.50 version, and just did an uninstall followed by install of 3.00 today, without problems.  I haven't had time to test 3.00, but the revised UI looks like a much more versatile arrangement.

Peter Sprenger Hello Milan, the thing I am missing the most is an undo capability. Have I overlooked this feature, and if not, do you plan to add it in a future version?

Best Regards

Pete

Milan Marusinec @Peter, Undo is not there yet, and I plan it for a future version (as well as bunch of other things). For now, a save function can be used instead of undo with similar effect - you save some at some point, and when you do something wrong, you reopen from last saved version (Note that the speed of save/load functionality has been significantly improved in this version).

Bob S Hi, I purchased multi-PC license when offered on bdj Feb. 7, 2010.  What is the upgrade policy for upgrading to the new version?
Aug 10 2010 at 6:12pm Copy Link

Milan Marusinec @Bob S, Your key will work for upgrades till Feb. 7,2011. After that, you can send email to sales@crossgl.com and I will send you a link for $7,48 x lic.amount (50% discount from initial price - $14,95). You can upgrade anytime in future upon your will. The key never expires, it just won't accept upgrade files newer that 12 months.

DrTeeth WOW! I am virtually sold and have not had a chance to try it out yet! Couple of questions. 1) Can SnapDraw capture a long page of a web site in one image? 2) If I pin the icon to my Win 7 taskbar, are jumplists supported - so I can right-click and choose an action? Cannot wait to get home and try this. The one thing missing from my current app is annotation tools.
Aug 11 2010 at 12:19am Copy Link

Milan Marusinec @Guy, Whole web page capture and win7 jumplists are not implemented yet. However, when you choose the Interactive "Window or Object" capture, you can make a snapshot of visible part of just the current web page (without window borders). I plan to implement also scrolling window/web capture features in future versions. For now, my effort was focused more on the annotation capabilities, because there is already a ton of other screen capture utilities that do the capture tasks already well (and you can add any image to SnapDraw).

Pedro Laurent Can this software capture text like Hypersnap 6 does?
Aug 11 2010 at 9:40am Copy Link

Milan Marusinec @Pedro, SnapDraw is currently a high-fidelity-graphics application, so I was basically not thinking about supporting capture of a text. I also don't have an idea, what Hypersnap is exactly doing when capturing a text. Please, (if interested) write me about what it does with text to my email (milan@crossgl.com) so I could have a thought about it. Thank You.

Bob S Pedro - not sure if this is what you are referring to, but NoteTab Pro (very robust text processor) has a useful feature called Paste Board.  When turned on, anything you "select" in another file (Word, .ppt, etc.) and copy (CRTL-C) gets automatically pasted into the designated text file.  I've found this very useful for extracting notes and sections from a long document that I'm reading.  It's at http://www.notetab.com.  MyInfo (powerful Info organizer)  has also implemented a similar feature.

Louis H Milan...

Any progress on adding an Undo feature to SnapDraw? I read in the comments here about using the Save feature instead, but it would really be nice to be able to experiment and not have to save after each edit applied.

Milan Marusinec @Luis - I'm currently not working on SnapDraw. The cause is the overall interest from people all over the world in SnapDraw is 3% while 97% is in Vector Clocks (according to the real download statistics). But wait - that doesn't mean it ends here - I just cannot afford to devote my one-man resource to the new SnapDraw features now. My plan is to continue later on SnapDraw with support of resources earned from the product that actually drives my web traffic. Wish I could say when this will be possible. Anyway, I keep providing email support and smaller bug fixes on regular ongoing basis. This is also the reason, I gave the product for the permanent whole year 35% discount here on BDJ.

Louis H Fair enough! Thanks for the quick and honest update. What you have is worth the $20 to me, (It's worth the $30, but the discount makes it even a sweeter deal) and if you do get around to an Undo feature, all the better, but it is not an absolutely necessity for me. (I will need to wait until my next payday to pick it up, though. I don't use credit. Everything I buy I buy with "cash." And I wanted to get the day only deal for Vector Clocks. )
