VLM I have to share this observation: I always feel suspect when a company's web site tries persistently to put an LSO cookie on my machine. This company's site keeps trying ... and will inevitably fail, of course. But it leads me to raise my eyebrows ... what other privacy concerns should I have about dealing with this company?

Kumaravel Somasundaram The Presiding Emissary for Vibrant Living Ministries and Successors,
Thank you for bringing up this question.
This may be due to Flash Demo files in our DesignerVista website.

When I google about LSO cookie, I found the following information.

"With installations of Flash, you get these LSO cookies put onto your PC. The only way to not have them is to not install Flash, which would mean you would not be able to view a large portion of the web. Any website you visit can read the info stored in your LSOs...."

VLM Fair enough, and thank you for receiving my comment in the tone intended! Perhaps follow Apple's lead ... abandon Flash! :):)

Glen Coulthard How can I order the "any 5" bundle offer and get the BDJ discount? Only the Windows is available when clicking "Buy".

Robert Reese I like the license you offer; I hope other BDJ vendors learn from your success.

I've bookmarked this deal and your website. As a New Media and Communications major, this will be a handy piece of software!

One last (irrelevant) comment to correct a misconception regarding Flash... it is a myth that not having Flash keeps a 'large portion' of the internet unusable. I don't have flash and the vast majority of the internet is accessible. If a website is inaccessible without flash, it is due to the lack of ability of its creator, or his or her sheer laziness. I've been successful in some cases in writing to the company with my complaint and they made it accessible without flash. Thankfully with HTML5 and CSS3, Flash is quickly going the way of the dinosaur for many uses.

Michael Guilfoyle This is a disapointment. At first I thought it was for all the platforms but is just for gui desktop. If you have a coupon for the bundle, I'm in otherwise ill pass. You can email a coupon to michaelgatm6dotnet

Jerry S Sounds nice, but why is the product offered for $79.95 on the publisher's website - and a 50% discount alleged here off a $99.95 price? Looks like something less than an honest approach to promotion here.

Second, the license is aid to be per user, yet there appears to be an inference that the program may be installed on only one computer. I won't purchase any software these days that doesn't permit me to install on at least two computers, my home and travel machines.

Please advise.

Jerry

Kumaravel Somasundaram Jerry,
Thank you for asking about this.

DesignerVista is a suite of 14 GUI mockup products. We offer two types of licenses: personal license and commercial license.

In our website, any one product( out of 14 products) price is $79.99 for personal license and $99.99 for commercial license.

Full product bundle( 14 products) price is $169.99 for personal license and $199.99 for commercial license.

50% discount offer here is on top of these prices. So you get our products for less price.

Jerry S Thank you for very prompt and informative response, I appreciate your courtesy.

If I design only applications for my own personal and business use, does that qualify for the personal license pricing? To clarify, the business entities I would use this for are entirely owned by me.

Also, does the license cover use on a personally owned desktop and laptop?

Jerry

Kumaravel Somasundaram If you plan to purchase yourself a license, and you are the only person planning to use that license, then the Personal License is for you.

Commercial Single User License is available to legal entities, including companies and organizations, requiring the software for general commercial use. The license will be on company name.

Yes. the license covers use on personally owned desktop and laptop.

Kimmo Lahtinen Am I correct in thinking that this tool is a fancy graphic editor with no connection to any programming tool. A programmer must try to duplicate the design as well as he can.

I think with many RAD tools you can design GUI quite quickly and you can actually use those when you add the logic.

I think this tool is good for interface designer. I am just wondering how a programmer can copy the design, t.ex. color definitions and other aspects of a fancy layout.

Kumaravel Somasundaram Kimmo Lahtinen:
Yes. DesignerVista is a easy to use quick mockup software with no connection to any programming tool.

The best way to understand the power of DesignerVista compared with RAD tools, try to design a Ribbon Application GUI using DesignerVista and your choice of RAD tool.

We are planning to add XML support in the future versions. So that programmers can read out the xml file and generate the code in the choice of their programming language.

Bernard BALLESTA Once the design has been approuved by customer, is it possible to process it automatically to feed a program generator to generate database and CRUD code fro example?

In other words, is it possible to access the design in Xml, Json or other format?

Michael Guilfoyle I am trying the trial version on my ultrabook and the toolbar takes up a huge amount of space. Is there some way to turn off the toolbar or reduce the size of it?

Jun 1 2012 at 5:26am Copy Link

Michael Guilfoyle I put a list box on the page and tried to add UI control spec (Ctrl+enter) and it is deactivated.

I like the idea of being able to write UI spec as I do the mockup and then print a report but I cant find any easy way to write notes/descriptions etc for each UI element.

Kumaravel Somasundaram We are sorry. Ribbon Toolbar is the the one contains all the commands and cannot be turned off.

Kumaravel Somasundaram Michael Guilfoyle:

- Select UI Spec tab in Shapes Explorer window
- Drag and drop a UI Spec control near the list box control
- Double click on the UI Spec control
- You add descriptions, properties etc.

To change Page UI Spec, Document UI Spec,
- Select Reports Tab in Main Toolbar
- Select Page UI Spec and Document Spec button
- Edit descriptions, properties etc.

Michael Guilfoyle Thanks Kumaravel. About the ribbon toolbar - as a designer screen space is everything. There should be an option to hide/show the toolbar. It's almost a deal breaker.

Software Geek As a designer, how would I get the mockups into a final art state would I have to recreate everything in Photoshop, I dont see anything about this and why are there now sample mockups to download to see what they actually look like. Also, the UI style for Android seems to match the old v1 android style which does not really reflect how things look on the more modern Android style.

Michael Guilfoyle The ribbon bar UI takes up a huge amount of space for design. Has this been fixed to give an option to hide the ribbon bar or option for a smaller toolbar. It makes it hard to design on a typcial laptop otherwise. A few versions back when I bought here I was told by support they would maybe do this in a new version. I think its two versions since now.

Sep 1 2014 at 12:18am Copy Link

Kumaravel Somasundaram Yes. It has been fixed in this version 7.0. Now you can hide and show the ribbon bar.
