Stefan Hauber Upgrades are free for one year, but updates are free, right?
For MockupScreens this would mean: all v4.x are free and if v5 arrives within a year all v5.x are free too. Correct?

Chris No, All Updates for 12 months (a year) are free, so if v5 came out within the 12 months and after 12 months v5.1 came out, it would not be a free update.

Igor Jese Chris is correct: ALL new versions within 12 months are free. After that to use newer versions you need to renew (for fraction of the price).

Chris I purchased this at 11:23:24 by the info on the Avangate site (company that collects payments) it has said Finished for over a hour at least as I have surfed around and purchased other things, even from BDJ and have already received my serial key from them, but have not received anything at all from the purchase of this software bundle.

Can someone find out why I haven't received it? Maybe send it again?

KHood Is this version of Mockup Screen PC only? If so is there a possibility of getting the MAC version of Mockup Screens in this bundle? As far as Mockup Data, is there going to be a version that runs on MAC?

Michael R. Is it possible to run Mockup-Data from a command-line (and so from within a program itself)?

For error-finding reasons, I think about calling some self-written programs of mine in a debug-mode, which would create at the very start some random-data and try some functions on them to verify the program is handling the data correctly.

disenchanted Can mockupdata import data from access or excel and manipulate it?
Or import from other data sources?

Or is it just for "randomly" creating data collections, grouping them, and using this structured data to show others what a test project would look like?

Igor Jese MockupData can't import data. It generates records according to the rules you set, and export them to CSV.

You can add your own data files to pick from, though.

Hawkeye I just started looking into something like this, and this appears to have some nice features. Two of the main things it is lacking, is listed below.

Is there any way to get a report that will list the widgets used, caption names and their geometries? This would be very helpful. I realize that the geometries are not exact to the actual form, but actually to the editor. Calculating the offsets would fix that easily. Probably, the best output file would be to CSV file. Copying and pasting is not an option, as it would be too time consuming.

I realize, the main purpose is to show the clients, what an app would look like, but the above info would help out at the time when the actual coding starts. Anything along these lines would be appreciated.

When grouping widgets together or independently, it would be nice to be automatically center the items to the form, where currently, it is for text only. This is minor compared to the first one.

I noticed that on the website it reads free upgrades for one year. Yet I did not see anywhere how much it was to upgrade. I would just like to know what it is going to cost to maintain upgrades after the first year.

Well I guess I should have looked at the fine print button. It reads that for 60% you can get an upgrade. Why such a high percentage. Most only charge 20% to 30% for maintenance renewal. Just curious what your thoughts are on this.

You can renew your license at 40% of the listed price (this 60% you skimmed is a *discount*).

Users are not required to renew to continue using MockupScreens, so you might be upgrading your license every 2-3 years or so - basically, only when you need what's in the updates.

VLM To the developer - Is a change log available for these products? I ask, because I'm curious about the development and release history.

To other users - For a technically competent user who is NOT a developer, would you say that this product would be a usable tool? I mean, to use it just as the developer describes, only to communicate clearly TO a developer in the first place.

Looks like a GREAT pair of products!

Igor Jese @Sukru Boztepe, MockupData creates CSV files (one for each table), which you then import into your relational database. And yes, relations between fields in the tables (foreign keys) are created, if specified.

MockupData creates csv files, one for each table you define. And yes, they can have formal relations (foreign keys, etc)

MockupScreens is available for both Mac and Win, MockupData only for Win.

Sara User Which screen elements in Mockup Screens can be made clickable = click on them will display another screen? Just regular buttons, or all of them, incl. single menu elements (different target screen for each menu element), list entries (text lines in a listview: different target screens or just the same target screen for every such textline within the listview), etc.? Igor Jese All elements can be made clickable as links to open another screen (e.g. in a scenario you would have several copies of the same screen but with different data).

For now, no parts of the elements can be links themselves (with exception of tabs).

Shazza Re MockupData:
1) When I export to CSV and then try to open in Excel, I get a message "The File format and extension of .csv don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe". If I proceed to open it, Excel detects that it is SYLK file (whatever that is) but can not load it because it has errors or is not a SYLK format. It can actually open it, but it's not a good look, and makes me wonder about the product.
2) If I use a custom rule file with say 10 lines in it, and want to generate 1000 records, is that possible, and how do the 10 sample data points get used; is it just cycled, so records 11, 21, 31 all get the same value, or is the list used to randomly select from for each of the 1000 records being generated?
