What are people saying about DJ Audio Editor

Michael R. In case, this editor is used to only cut and merge parts of an existing sound-file, will the resulting save in the same format (e.g. MP3) be lossless, i.e. without re-encoding?

If no, is this planned in a near future?

Amit 1. Can it taken like a remix software that adds effects (automatic effects) based on the individual song added, as adding effects to many songs, takes long time. just like programs that automatically apply effects to images. and if it can add many remix effects then more better. presently this feature present in the current version, or if not then can it be added ? thanks. and do I have to buy 2-4 licenses for 2-4 different pc, say 2 for myself and 2 for my dad ?

LU Under the developer's faq page, it states they only support minor version updates.

Is this a misprint on the BitsDuJour Fine Print page, a misprint on the developer's faq page, or simply an exclusive lifetime upgrade offer through BitsDuJour?

Gary Smith I have read the information on your website regarding DJ Audio Editor, and it looks like a nice editor. I have been using Audacity Open Source and Ocenaudio Editor; both support VST Plugins. What capabilities does DJ Audio Editor offer that these free alternatives do not, and does DJ Audio Editor support VST Plugins?

James Murrell James Murrell A couple of hours ago, I bought two of your DJ Audio Editor. My Bank of America shows a charge to avantgatebitsdujour.co for $29.95. I have not received an email with the download info nor license keys. I have checked my span folder - not there either. What gives? I have purchased a number of items thru Bitsdujour, and this is first problem. jamestapesaol.com

Gary Smith @Program4Pc: Today, you are selling one of your products through a service offered by Bits du Jour, that also offers the opportunity for potential buyers to ask questions directly to the seller. The idea is that the answer could be beneficial to other potential buyers as well. If you suggest to the potential buyer to find the answer themselves by downloading the software to see powerful it is, you certainly are shortchanging many of your potential buyers. If I had wanted to try the software to learn for myself, I would not have asked such a pertinent question. In fact, one of the reasons I have not downloaded the software for a trial is that it does not appear to offer any benefit over alternatives that are totally free. I am giving you the opportunity to show that it does indeed have features and advantages that are worth the price.

You also suggested for more information that I visit your website. My post starts out explaining that I had done exactly that. That would suggest I am asking because your website did not give me the answer already.

Surely, you can tell us if your software supports VST Plugins. I ask because I did not see anything mentioning the plugin capability here or on your website, and since it is such a common feature on Audio Editors, surely you must have thought about it. So please, let us know if it does support VST Plugins, and please explain why your offering is any better than the open source and free alternatives that have a great reputation already.

I don't mind spending the money for the program if it is better than others or offers features that I cannot get in other software for around the same amount of money. I am glad to take advantage of the many offers through Bits du Jour for the discount prices. These are the incentives many look for, but not explaining your product or justifying its value will put your product in a less desirable position than it would be otherwise. This is your opportunity to impress the readers here. Have at it.

Program4Pc @Gary Smith: First of all thanks for your interest in our product. We offer you to download the trial version to make sure it does exactly what you need, and also paying for a license is an advantage of Shareware over freeware, because freeware products are having and installing toolbars and other third-party products, there is no guarantee they offer you the same product in future, there is no guarantee for you to receive technical support, and also your personal information (email, etc.) will be shared and sold to other companies. By all means that is how these companies are making money.
We asked you to look through our website to read all features and descriptions and when VST Plugins are not mentioned there and here in BitsDuJour then it is not available (it does not support VST pluging).
Our products are tested by all major Download companies, received lots of reviews and 5-Star ratings for their functionality.

Gary Smith Thanks first and foremost for participating in these discussions. These are the type of products that give us hope.

>... paying for a license is an advantage of Shareware over freeware, because freeware products are having and installing toolbars and other third-party products

You say that as if unconditional; but not true. Certainly some free programs will install or attempt to install toolbars and other third-party products. It depends on the usefulness of those "extras" of course. I am not a fan of any attempt at installing something behind my back, hijacking my browser start page, and so on. I watch for these types of things constantly, but all third-party software is not bad, so I don't think it is fair to bad mouth third-party products; certainly you should not. Your product is based on third-party products. You didn't really write all of the software that comes with your product you intend to collect money for. Your program's main internals is based on the open source FFmpeg library, the LAME mp3 library, and the opencore-amr library. Your product's End User License Agreement section 3 is specifically to legally qualify you for using the third-party software. These are the same pieces of free software that other open source audio editors and audio tools use, except the user never has to pay for the privilege of using that technology. What you do is take advantage of that fact that you legally can use it in a product that you sell for profit, in fact competing with the ones that offer more but are totally free. Please be fair about the "third-party" stuff here. You are making users think that the "third-party" statement implies bad things ... but it is OK for you to use it.

>there is no guarantee they offer you the same product in future

Neither is there for any other company. I have purchased lots of software that the company later closed its doors. Some products get sold to other companies that may not honor the license the same. If you got offered 16.5 million dollars for DJ Audio Editor and to forget your users, would you do it? That is what has happened to users in the past. An example was the popular audio editor named Cool Edit from the 1990s. It got sold ($16.5 million), and the new owner has changed licensing in such a way that most of the original users no longer have access to the current version. The buyer was Adobe. You cannot guarantee you can offer the same product in the future any more than the developers of Cool Edit did.

>there is no guarantee for you to receive technical support

When a program is very popular, there is a lot of community support via forums, YouTube videos, and other support groups. Some of it is good and some of it is bad. It depends on who is providing the support, and their experience with the program. Note that I mentioned "when a program is very popular" as a qualifier. The problem is when a program is not well known, such as yours. Regardless, I had much rather get support from the developers since they know the product better than anyone else. My biggest trouble with getting support has been for the programs that I purchased, yet have slow or no response from the seller. The ones that do offer some degree of support often turn to depending on community support. Many of the community participants providing that support have less knowledge or experience than the person needing the support. In those cases, it is nearly impossible to get any decent support. Your website support section provides a FAQs section and some example steps of how to use the product, essentially a manual. Other than that, you offer a contact form for support. Time will tell if you will offer good support for your products. I hope so.

Regardless of how things are today, it does not mean it will remain that way. On your own website, you end each of your pages pertaining to a policy with: "Please note that PROGRAM4PC may change this policy at any time and without prior notice, by posting the revised version of this Refund Policy to the PROGRAM4PC website"

You guarantee nothing at all.

>also your personal information (email, etc.) will be shared and sold to other companies. By all means that is how these companies are making money.

That is simply not the case, and not fair at all to the alternatives I mentioned. First they have to have a way of getting the personal information. Downloading Ocenaudio or Audacity does not require the user to provide any personal information. The same goes true for just about any other freeware programs, and likewise open source programs. When a user downloads a trial version of your software, you don't get any personal information either. How would it be any different for software that is free to begin with. No registration is required; therefore, no way to do what you claim. We are not talking about scam ware that goes through user's contact lists or uses any deceiving methods to gather such information. We are talking about decent programs that perform audio editing, have a great track record, have more features, and are less expensive than your product. Please be fair here. The ones that end up with user data are the commercial software that users have to pay for, and in doing so, their personal information is passed along to the seller. There have been cases where that data was indeed sold. I hope you do not.

What are the three main operating systems for desktop PCs? Windows, Linux, and iOS/Apple, which is based on a variant of Linux. Most likely your website is running on a Linux OS (most are). It is hard to imagine that "free" software can be so bad when that is exactly how Linux got to be so popular. Users can download lots of variants of Linux without giving out their personal information.

>We asked you to look through our website to read all features and descriptions and when VST Plugins are not mentioned there and here in BitsDuJour then it is not available (it does not support VST pluging)

You could have saved lots of other's time by answering that up front, rather than dodge the issue. The reason for these discussions is for that very reason. You can answer much better than users attempting to learn the software on their own. Downloading software as a trial is not always the answer; certainly not the quickest answer or simplest answer if the seller is active in these discussions. In your product's case, it does not take long to see what it can do and not do. For some software, the user cannot possibly get a good idea of the software's features and uses within one day. We depend on the seller to provide accurate and helpful answers.

>Our products are tested by all major Download companies, received lots of reviews and 5-Star ratings for their functionality.

But you do not show any on your website that I can find. Your website should show some of the reviews that do comparisons of your software compared to similar products. I can't imagine that your product will come out on top of the ones I mentioned that are free.

In your FAQs:
>Remember to keep the invoice very carefully as it will be necessary if you need any future assistance.

I will never need to be concerned about this issue with the open source and free alternatives. I will get lots of community support free of charge, without having to prove I purchased anything before getting that support. That is a lot less hassle. I know; I have been doing it for a long time.

Before the digital revolution, I was splicing tapes. I have been using audio editors for many years (since SoundEdit). Just about every type available I have used. A lot of the audio editors do much more than your product, and for a higher price; understandable of course. The majority of audio editing tasks are handled by the programs that are similar to your product. When the similar programs are much less, or even free, you the seller needs to step up the game a bit and make a decent program that has some features and advantages that the others do not. You need to justify your price; not just ask "does it do what you need it to do?" In most cases, the answer would be Yes, but that does not mean that the program is the best choice. When others offer more and for less, it is fair to say they become a better choice.

I have a version of your DJ Audio Editor from 2013 but I do not use it. I have been curious about the latest incarnation (the offered 2014 version). I downloaded the trial (as you suggested but not because you suggested) and went about testing it out. It is a fairly simple audio editor. I found that it does not offer quite a few features that Ocenaudio and Audacity offer. The Effects section is limited in comparison. The Generate feature is for Silence or Noise, but no tones or DTMF. There is no Analyze feature in your product.

Multiple selections is not possible (effects applied to different sections independently but with one operation; a very nice feature of Ocenaudio).
I wish your product could Normalize channels independently; very handy.

Your product is not available on Apple or Linux; Ocenaudio and Audacity both are.
You do not offer a portable version. I use Audacity on a thumbstick daily.

It looks as if your product concentrates on features that utilize the open source sub-components provided to you freely by third-party sources. Why not be innovative and develop some good things on your own. Make your product stand out from the crowd.

I also found that it could not handle very small files and anything that is longer than a few minutes long. The program simply crashes and disappears. For longer audio files, I found that it would stop playing a file, and either quit entirely or would display an error. Your program attempts to access memory that it is not supposed to access (a programming error). An example is

"The instruction at "0x033de43f" referenced memory at "0x09430070". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

Clicking on OK only repeated the error message. I had to click on OK 35 times before the program quit or it crashed (no way of knowing why it stopped at that point).

I would like to see how your program compares to similar software reviewed by others, and those sources be reputable and accessible to the public. Your program may not be ready for many users but with some diligence and ingenuity, it could very well be someday. It is not the end of the world. Currently, your program does approximately 80% of the free alternatives. Match up and go beyond the alternatives. Come back and make us an offer we cannot refuse.

Rob User Is this a loss-less audio editor when using mp3's ? How does it get around editing an mp3 and then saving the changes without re-compressing the mp3 further degrading the sound? Can you confirm if this software converts the mp3 to a loss-less file format like .wav and then recompresses the wav to mp3 after the editing changes have been made without audio degradation or having to go through that process manually?
Thanks.

Matt Hello,

I purchased DJ Audio Editor back in October 2016 here on BDJ when you still offered 'Free Lifetime Upgrades'.

My activation code no longer works with the newest version (7.6)

Could you please help me out?

Program4Pc Dear Matt,
By end of 2017 we changed our policy and renovated the entire DJ Audio Editor along with adding lots of new features and updates, so we can not offer any lifetime free updates and all licenses comes free minor update.
But now we offer very special discount at BDJ which is more than 70% and we believe it is a very good deal to enjoy.
Please contact our Support Team (infoprogram4pc.com) directly for further questions and we do our best to provide a solution as soon as possible.
