DropShots is the original photo sharing website, offering an intuitive interface without an overload of unnecessary features and complexity. With DropShots, you’ll benefit from a service that’s been around since before Flickr and Facebook, one that has successfully hosted over 10 million photos and videos for over a decade.

What do you get with DropShots? How about the ability to mass upload photos and videos and have the service organize them by date? Or customizable security and privacy settings that hide your media from search engines and allow you to selectively share items? Throw in unlimited storage for life, quality hardcopy prints, and an integrated editor, and there’s no better place to stash your most important media than with DropShots.

Chris When using the desktop uploader do you get links to the images? I post alot on forums and need direct links to each image that I can use between
Right now I pay 2 or 3 different sites a yearly fee to upload images, it would be great if I could cancel them and get this instead.

Thanks.....

Zonwas Hi, more or less the same questions as the previous one. What about RAW (NEF, RAF, ...) files?

Thank you for your answer & kind regards,
Eric

Ralph Bressler I recently purchased this "deal" from another source. I found that when I upload my pictures there is no way to keep my original folder structure. This to me was a limitation I could not overcome. I sent an email questioning this and was told my question/request would be passed on to the "engineers". Since then I have not heard anything from the company despite several more emails. They refuse to answer me or the people that connected me to them for the offer. I have to decide if it is worth contacting my credit card company or Paypal or simply writing this off as a lesson learned. You may not have the same issue with folder structure as I did. However, you have to ask yourself the question, "Do I want to deal with a company that will not respond to its paid users?" My suggestion is to PASS ON THIS ONE!

Colum User @Chris Yes you can share individual photos, in the settings make sure it is set to 'Public' and not private so that everyone can view it when you share the URL.

I hope this answers your question.

Colum User @Danny we do not currently offer the option to pay via paypal. Sorry for this inconvenience. If you contact me via email I will see if there is a way we can set this up so you can take advantage of this deal: colum@dropshots.com.

Thanks for your interest!

Ralph Bressler @Colum User Do you know if there is a way to keep the folder structure the same as on the computer? If not, is it in "the works"?

Colum User @Ralph Bressler I am sorry to hear about your experience with DropShots and I would like to try to rectify the situation (if possible). I know how annoying it can be to not get a response form a question or get an unsatisfactory response. Can you contact me: colum@DropShots.com and I will do everything I can to provide all the information you need. If DropShots is still not the product for you at least you have all the information you need to make an informed decision :)

Thanks and I look forward to hearing for you.

Colum User @Ralph Bressler we don’t currently support folder uploads and structure like you mentioned, but a user can edit the timestamp once uploaded.

DropShots is based primarily on the date taken timeline, but can then be grouped into specific albums for convenient photo sharing.

This is a very good suggestion you have made and although it is not currently supported I have suggested we try to build this into our next update/release.

Thanks,

Colum

Colum User @Lifetime Upgrades PSDs are not supported in DropShots unfortunately. We are a photo and video service so just the main photo and video file formats like JPEG, PNG, GIF, Mov, MP4 etc.

Keyboard Cowboy I'm a bit confused! The website for Dropshot says "$99.95 LIFETIME – one-time payment", yet here you say the Lifetime is $149, discounted to $69. What accounts for the difference in price? Are there two different "Lifetime" agreements? Should the 53% discount really be $47?
Feb 9 2015 at 8:08am Copy Link

Colum User @Software user you can organize the photos and videos into whatever album you want by simply dragging and dropping to your desired location.

Colum User @Keyboard Cowboy our standard lifetime price is $149 we have been running trials at the lower price of $99 on the website and it has gone down really well with potential subscribers. The $69 Lifetime offer is a very short term deal to see how a super low price impacts on the amount of lifetime subscribers we can attract.

I hope this helps to explain the prices.

Thanks

Keyboard Cowboy It does........thank you. One more question, if I buy a lifetime plan, can I access my photos from any computer I own, or do I need a different login or account for each computer? I suspect the answer is I can access from any computer but I want to make sure before I "flip the switch" and give DropShots a try.

Lifetime Upgrades I see you have video upload as well. Is there an upload size limit, can the video be viewed directly from your servers or must the video be downloaded.

If it can be viewed what is the maximum playback resolution?

Colum User @SM Griffith thats odd have you tried a different Username? If it still does not work for you email me: colum@dropshots.com and I will make sure you get the deal at this price. I might have to bring a developer into the conversation if you cannot get it to work.

Lee H So what's the "DEAL"?? It's $99.95 for Lifetime access on your website. But this promotion says the normal cost is $149.95. What's the extra 50 bucks for?

If the real cost is $99.95 then that's what you should show here. And you should reflect that this is a 30% discount and not 53%!

When I find the offer is disingenuous it really makes me wonder about the ethics of the company - and it indicates to me that it's a company I do not want to do business with!

Keyboard Cowboy Lee, that's not fair. You can ask the question......I did much earlier. They've posted the answer as well!!! You may agree with the answer, or not, that's your choice, but take the time to read the previous comments before attacking the company.

Colum User @Lee H it is not our intention to be disingenuous but until recently everyone paid 149.95 for the Lifetime subscription (which is still a great deal), we are testing different prices to find a sweet spot for revenue/subscribers. If we can significantly increase our premium subscribers we can drive down the price because it becomes less expensive to maintain our servers therefore less expensive to host per user (economies of scale).

Including the $149.95 & the $99.95 as well as this promotion price is merely an attempt to show how we have adapted our price.

Thanks

Mike Shanahan When was it $149? Not as long as I can remember. So...we check the WayBack Machine. The earliest snapshot they have of your current pricing page is June 25th of 2014 (almost eight months ago). The lifetime price is listed as $99.95. I went back a long way using Google and the lifetime deal seems to have always been $99. I found numerous references to a $69 price as far back as three years ago. In fact, on June 21, 2010 (!) there is a regular lifetime plan for $99 for life. On Facebook in 2013 somebody was saying they've had the $99 lifetime deal, it was a great deal, etc. In fact, I can't find any real reference to $149 except in your ads with a slash through it (advertising the $99 price) - and they go back a long way. Why did you say otherwise? Why did you say you have been giving the $99.95 price a "trial" off your "standard" $149 price. It's NEVER been $149 - at least not as far back as I can go which seems to be 2010 - five years ago. That worries me about entrusting my pictures to you. Sorry.

viewoflife @Colum User I am very interested in this offer. I have a few questions: 1) Is there a storage capacity limit or is it unlimited storage? 2) Is there a file size limit on the uploads. 3) Are there any plans for a Windows phone app? Thanks, look forward to your reply.

Colum User @Mike Shannahan I appreciate your interest and the time you have spent looking into this, I can confirm that the Lifetime subscription was $149.95, I have checked our transaction logs and see that just under 25% of all our lifetimers signed up at this price. A few years ago we started testing different prices and the $99.95 became our new go to price because we had more success at that price.

The $69.95 is a new price for DropShots, I doubt you saw any reference to a Lifetime promo for $69 as far back as 3 years ago, what you probably saw was an annual promo for $69 as we have never offered a Lifetime for this low before.

Thanks again for your interest, have a great day!

Colum User @viewoflife the premium (Lifetime) subscription offers unlimited photo and video uploads and storage as well as larger and higher quality photos and videos 10-min video length. With the Free account videos are cut off at 2 mins. There is no size limit on photo uploads.

We are a small group and we are currently working on an Android app, after that we will be thinking about a Windows version but I do not have an estimated completion date for that. We do have a mobile site which will work on a Windows phone.

I hope thats helpful.

Keyboard Cowboy I was not able to get the site to accept my proposed userID yesterday. Given the extension on this deal, I tried again this morning and it still would not take the userID so I tried a new one. It accepted the new one, but then immediately completed the transaction at $149! I'm not sure what caused this, or whether it is unique to my account or happens across the board. Please fix this ASAP and refund the difference.

Tom User this does not appear to be a one time payment of 69.95, rather it appears to be a yearly subscription of 69.95. Unless i do not understand the invoice provided. Is this a onetime fee or not?

Mike Shanahan @ Colun User - In your own words - " A few years ago we started testing different prices and the $99.95 became our new go to price because we had more success at that price. "

So why, after several years, are you advertising this as 53% off? It's NOT. It's 53% off your price from "a few years ago." ( 2010?) That's not honest, I'm sorry.

Ralph Bressler I repeat a previous warning. DO NOT deal with this company under any circumstances. BDJ please DROP this company from any further promotions. If you purchase anything from them, they will take your money and you will NEVER hear from them again. They have no customer service and will NEVER answer your questions or complaints. I thought Colum was for real and was actually trying to help but "he" is just a sham like the rest of the company. I have been trying to get them to answer me for weeks without a reply. Colum said he would get someone to contact me but that was a lie! Even if the price seems attractive, don't fall for it! Even their pricing scheme is a sham. They list the price here as $149 while it is actually $99 on their website. Stay away from these robbers!

Keyboard Cowboy I hate to do this -- and it is the first time in the many years I've been on Bits DuJour that I've had to take this position -- I have to say this was a complete bust. The transaction with DropShot did not work well. Colum communicated well at first and said they could not find my payment, but communications have ceased. I have not heard from them since Feb 12th. I provided screen shots showing the charge on my Amex card, and still no response. I have now requested a refund through Amex. I do not know what's happening at DropShot but they clearly are experiencing internal issues.
