Bogdan Kmieciak Some of pdf files looks like mirror image when open with e-pdf.
Is there a reason for that?

Tim Mataja Hi Bogdan, Nor sure if I understand the question. Are you seeing it as if you held it upi to a mirror? If that is the case, it's the first time I've seen this. Will get it to technical to see if they can come up with anything.

Tim Mataja Technical says they have never seen this before either. Are the files you are opening written that way? Does the same thing happen when you open them with any other PDF app?

Mike G Can e-PDF easily reformat PDF's to fit smaller ebook reader displays, change fonts, add table of contents based on specified chapter markers, etc? Does it have ability to create and save templates to partially automate this process? I realize that's asking a lot for the small price, but it would be useful to know if this kind of functionality is possible or planned for the future.

Peter Wallace I just went through and paid with paypal, but it says that your site : https://www.e-press.com/ is not working - and It indeed took the money out of my paypal account, but I am not getting a receipt or licensing info. Is your site down? The non HTTPS site is working. It is frustrating - I can give you the transaction info from Paypal, but after the payment the link just goes to the generic https://www.e-press.com/ - nothing with any order detail, and that page fails.

Tim Mataja Hi Mike,

I'll have to check with our programmers about what you're asking. I think it's yes to the first part (about specific chapter) but no to automation for the templates. I'll get back to you

Marty Rix Purchased this some 4 hours ago, still have not received acknowledgment of same , nor registration code. Yet, they had no problem debiting my Visa.
Oh well! You live and learn. But, I will never purchase another product from this company.
Indeed, what I will be doing is flaming them mercilessly on various tech sites and forums.
This is inexcusable, and as such no remedy will suffice.
Final word "This is a Scam" !!!

Tim Mataja Hi Peter,

Please note that orders that go through Paypal may take a couple of hours before you recieve the instruction set for downloading with the license key. However, please rest assured that you will get it. This is only for Paypal orders as there are more steps involved on our payment processing side.
I apologize for any inconvenience on this and will try to get it work quicker. Please note that regular credit card orders get processed immediately.

Tim Mataja Hi Marty,

Please see my last posting to Peter. There is no scam here, it was just a delay in the processing of the paypal orders. Your order was placed at 4:07 this morning and you were sent your instructions at about 7:30. Please verify that you did receive it along with your receipt.
I apologize for the inconvenience.

We'll forgive his bad spell check, but the operative sentence here is the last one, it is quite risible!

Raymond Schappe As Peter noted above, your linking after paying with PayPal is having some troubles.

Upon completing the PayPal transaction when it tries to come back to e-Press part of the transaction, it give an error message and just sits there.

I too am waiting for my license key, and a printable receipt, etc.

Now, on the positive side, I have been playing with e-Pdf and I like it! Light-weight and fast (the way software should be!) - but you need to add an easy way to add annotations!!! A "call out" sort of bubble-thingy... so you can add a note and have it "point" to a position in the pdf.

Also, is there a help file? It was a no-show for me.

Keep up the good work!!!!

I just received my emails with a receipt and the necessary codes to register!

Marty Rix @Tim (the scammer),
My order # 48807?????????,, and not with PP, 'twas a validated Visa transaction!
You know what angers me? I can handle that you have taken AUD13+ from me, I, perhaps in my naivety trusted soft purchased from this site.
My bad!
What i will be doing beyond the aforementioned is reporting this scam to the relevant consumer affair authorities (better bureaux, ;an stuff like that) in CA, with a start.
Cannot believe that bitsdujour permits this type of scam!

Mike G Peter, thanks for the response. Reformatting of PDF's to fit ebook readers (especially Sony PRS 505 or 700) and adding/editing table of contents is important to me. I'd be willing to work with you on testing/documenting a process if you can assist with working out the best way to do that in e-PDF. I have a simple test PDF with no columns or pictures (maybe just a cover page).

Michael Mortimer Sheesh... some people need to calm down. I have been on the Net since 1995 and I know what a scam looks like. This isn't one so stop with the ankle biting accusations.

I use PayPal for many purchases, sometimes the redirect after payment feature does not work. Just the way it goes. I don't know why it happens, but it does at times.

And as to license codes, etc., I have had to wait 24 hours or more at times to get my codes. Guess what, most small businesses or developers are not manning the computers 24/7 ready to instantly send you your codes.

I like to get them quick too, but most Sites tell you to give it 24 hours and to e-mail them if they are not received.

If you don't get the codes the best idea is to check your spam folder to make sure they did not end up in there. Also, unless you have an auto insert program like I do (SureType from the old days) there is a possibility that you inputted the wrong e-mail address. That is why companies tell you to make sure your e-mail is correct lest your codes end up in the black hole of the Internet.

Lastly, I have never seen scammers try to rip off people for $10 a whack nor for them to use places like Bits for a 24-hour rip off session. That makes no sense.

If you intend to call relevant consumer affair authorities, please do so. Things are pretty boring there, so they need a good laugh.

Sidenote: I made my purchase with PayPal and I did not immediately get my codes, nor did I get redirected at PayPal. I am suing PayPal, Bits and E-Pdf. Anyone want to join me in the lawsuit?

If so, please PayPal me $1000 each so to cover the costs of the suit. After making your payment you will be redirected to my website where you will obtain further details. If you are not automatically redirected, sue me.

Tim Mataja Thanks Michael. Could not have said it better.
I know that larger companies have it go through immediately (we do through our payment processor for credit cards) however, with Paypal, we are at their mercy.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Michael Mortimer Marykay... I have "activated" many a license and e-pdf's is kind of odd. I tried to enter the license numbers that e-pdf sent me and I got an error.

After many tries I followed the detailed directions that were included in the e-mail and that worked perfectly. But I wasted about 15 minutes trying to do it my own way.

Not sure what your error is, but your message sounds like you are not connected to the Net when trying the online activation, or your connection is not working.

In any event, what I did (recalling from memory) was open the program, then there was a "activate" button, which I pressed.

Then it asked me how I wanted to activate.

I then chose "online"

When I pressed that, a window popped up that asked for my name, address, e-mail, etc. (I was a bit perturbed that it asked for this info, again. I have not seen many programs do that, they usually just ask for the codes).

After I pressed continue (again, after filling in my address and all) it FINALLY asked for the license ID and password.

It then activated the program.

Note: The e-mail said to enter the E-PDF site I should input a Login name and password (which are different from the license ID and password).

Well on mine it said "Login:" but the space was blank (so I did not have a login name). I had no way to log into the site. :(

I was lucky enough to have downloaded e-PDF from the BIts link.

Don't know if that's the same for others, no user login name provided.

Michael Mortimer By the way people, I have been using Adobe Acrobat since 1993. Since then I have used a sundry of programs to avoid the huge costs associated with keeping up to date with Adobe's offerings. I got so tired of paying $350 every couple of years I stopped buying Adobe after Version 7.

Anyway, I purchased this program today and have tried it out. Now while that is obviously not enough time to do a full review, I have to say this program is amazing.

It's easy to use. In fact, you can open any PDF file, play around with the features to figure out what is what, and then simply not save the document if you totally messed up the original. Your original document is safe and sound, tucked into it's little hard disk bed.

What really makes this a killer deal is the price. To be able to edit PDF documents for $10 is insane. I remember when being able to edit PDF documents meant you had to fork over $350 to $500 to Adobe. Then Adobe went open source on code and developers started coming out with alternatives. But it still cost $100 or so for a program that could edit a PDF file.

So pay up and get this program. $10 is nothing nowadays. And when you think about what you are getting for that price, well, as I said, this is an insane deal.

P.s. I wrote an "Alternatives to Adobe Acrobat" article for a magazine last year so I know what to look for in these programs. E-PDF has an extremely user-friendly interface. If you know how to use MS Word's basic commands and Windows then you can use this program out of the box, without reading the help files.

Like I tell my readers, if it takes days to figure out how to use a program then it's not worth the price, even if it's free.

Peter User Just want to say that there was almost instant processing on my order. No problems at all.

And it's fun to play with. I have some "pdf" files that were created with some programs that are not easily manipulated by other pdf editors that I have tried out over the years. To date, this one does a pretty good job. And at the Bits price, it is almost a Give-Away.

Bogdan K Tim, It is a scanned document. Both Acrobat Pro 7.0 and Cutepdf Pro reads it ok. Send me an email and I will send you this file.
Also, after scanning I've added a stamp and printed it again to pdf. When this file is opend with e-pdf stamp is fine but rest of the page is inverted. I have also noticed that some of the scanned (pdf) documents show only blank page when opened with e-pdf. Again Acrobat and Cutepdf reads it fine.

PayPal acknowledged the payment through an email, but I have not received word from you on how I'll receive my copy of the e-PDF application. Please advise ASAP. I was hoping to use it immediately.
