Cool User @EaseUS rep:

Thanks for the free gift.
Download and installation is a breeze, although I hate software that triggers the browser at the end of the installation and takes me to the developer's web page. It's an annoying, nagging step.

Unfortunately, this software is crippled, and useless for me.
It does not seem to have sync or incremental backup capability.
Very limited control in the Options also.

I have my documents, pictures, videos, other data mirrored on an external drive (call it E:).
All I need on a daily basis is to keep drive E data a mirror of drive C (add, or delete files on drive E that have been added, modified, or deleted on drive C).

Does any of your backup versions do that (as in 2BrightSpark's "SyncBack"?
Thanks.

What about Windows 10?

David User Yes it works fine with Windows 10

Synching is not backup. If you synch and accidentally delete something - where do you recover it from?

That's not to say synch doesn't have a use - it's not the same at all though.

Mike S @Cool User: From your description, you're looking for sync software, not backup software--the software here is backup software (and you shouldn't blame EaseUS for what you call "crippled" software here, just because it's not what you're looking for to begin with . . .).

A good freeware option to do what you want, syncing: Microsoft's very easy to use SyncToy. https://www.microsoft.com...x?id=15155

Home User Does this have to be installed before the offer expires today?
Also I don't understand about registering the program.
One place says to register with key.
Another place say no registering required.
Please explain.
Thanks so much!

License activation isn't required. what's this?

Does anyone know if there is a time limit on when it can be installed?

Thanks

Winter Wolf I am unable to activate my installation using the license code which was sent to me by email. I'm getting an "unable to connect to server" error message.

Constantin Florea @Home User, I just asked the vendor if there is a time limit for the registration code. They didn't specify a limit when they sent us the registration code however I will comment back here either way.

Regarding your "license activation" question. Please press on the "what's this?" link to read more about it. It refers to the fact that in this case there is no communication required between your computer and the vendor's registration server to validate your registration.

Winter Wolf @Constantin Thanks for the replies, I was able to get it activated eventually. As others have indicated however, there is some confusion regarding whether license activation is required due to conflicting information in different locations. My problem turned out to be that my firewall was blocking the connection to the activation server. Once I unblocked the software it activated without a hitch. This confirms for me, at least, that there is certainly a requirement for activation and a connection to the company's server. It's unclear why there is conflicting information posted and a response from the company to clarify would probably be helpful.

Constantin Florea @Winter Wolf, Thanks for sharing your experience. Based on your comment, it seems that license activation is required. The license policy is filled in by the vendor when they submit the product in our database. I have just contacted the vendor to help clear the license activation issue.

EaseUS Hey guys,
You have to use the license key before May 5th, 2016. Since the key will expire on that day, if you reinstall the program after that day, the key will be invalid.

And EaseUS Todo Backup supports both SSD and HDD.

Home User Thanks for the answer to my question. Since you have to use the license key before May 5th I will be passing on this. I can see the key being invalid if you reinstall the program after that day but don't see why the program has to be installed right away.
Thanks for the offer anyway.

Robert Crombie I don't like to do backups (of the complete OS) when Windows is running.
Can System backup be created from the bootable CD ?

Peter User One look and deinstall. In every backup-method are 3-4 folder already selected - I hate this! It´s additional unnecessary work to unselect them - and for what is mail-backup good if this tool only knows outlook?

Andreas User A question:
Can this version be updated/patched, or is it a static version that will become outdated soon? I suppose the latter. Am I right?

I noticed the only difference between this version and the free version is backup of email and an email notification option.
In hindsight I feel I might just as well use the free version.

Cool User @Andreas User,
Thanks for the tip.
You may want to take a look at the free, open source "Free File Sync" at freefilesync.org (updated regularly, and has Realtime Sync feature), or 2BrightSparks' SyncBackFree (the free version), or GFI Backup (on Softpedia).

Free File Sync and GFI have portable versions, no installation needed.
GFI development had stopped in 2011, though.
