Stefan Hauber Nice, stable and effective program, not complicated with many features...

I played around with it a while and have the following questions:

Is it possible to make an effect going on for more than one image? I marked some images and when choosing the effect-tool it does the effect only on one image?

If I have a number of pictures with different timestamps-differences, e.g. (1) 10:00 (2) 10:01 (3) 10:03, it would be nice to transfer these time-differences automatically to the time-difference between the gif-frames. In the example above this would be a delay of 1s between frame (1) and (2) and 2s between frames (2) and (3) .

Having 200 jpg-images and importing all in EasyGIFAnimator, after saving the image I found out the size of all original jpg images (5,5MB) was more than 2 times smaller than created GIF (11.7MB). The created Video-files AVI (25,7MB) and SWF Flash (48,3MB) were even bigger. So my idea to archive the sequences of my webcam in a gif-file and gain some space (because compressing similar pictures should result in smaller sizes (because of fewer differences) seems not to save space. But probably this is the nature of the gif-files. (I am wondering if there is a new filetype that does a compression between the frames!?)

Karlis Blumentals Depending on visual effect, it will work either on a single frame or, if it is a transition effect, it will work between two frames. You can repeat the operation to apply effect to multiple frames.

I'm afraid file timestamps are not managed and I haven't heard that this is possible in any software, neither it is widely requested or used.

Gif file is a specific file format, it was not designed for storing video or a lot of high-quality or large frames. It's sole purpose is allow short animations for the web (banners, buttons and misc). Compared with JPG, in GIF format, photographic high-color images weigh more it is because of format differences JPG is better for photos while GIF is better for simpler images such as text on some background or cartoons.

Ron K For a year now I've been trying to make an animated gif of a 787-frame capture of 24+ seconds of 640 x 480 video game at 30fps. I have tried every gif animator I could find, and none of them, even Easy GIF Animator 5 Pro, were able to do it. However, Easy GIF Animator 5 Pro was able to do the full 30fps at half-resolution 320 x 240, and none of the others I tried could do even that. It also did an excellent job of finding a palette that covered all the frames well, and the end-result is very smooth and looks really good. So EGA5P has earned my purchase. For the record, I was able to build the animated gif with almost any software if I would drop down to 10fps @ 640, or 15fps @ 320. But they just didn't look good. The one made by EGA5P has surprised me by how good it looks.

One question: Does it come with file size optimization?

BDJ: It's okay to start the product description with illustrative examples, yet they should be correct. Neither Twitter nor Facebook allow animated gifs as profile pictures.

Karlis Blumentals You can insert animation into email just like any other picture. Whether it plays depends on whether your e-mail program supports animation.

Transparent animation is supported and various shapes can be drawn.

Karlis Blumentals Easy GIF Animator uses Google image search, thus the same copyright rules apply. Click on the magnifier icon near the found image, when full preview is open, right-click on image and select Properties. There you will find image URL, you can go visit that website for any copyright policies. I agree this is not straightforward and we shall change this in the next version.

That means, we can not use any of the found images because almost every image has some copyright restrictions.

To say "you can easily use in your ... projects" is quite a heavy statement and at least here in my country simply against the law.

Nigel Brewster As I've mentioned to the Blumentals team on a numerous occasions, I hate the rules and regulations "The Software is licensed, not sold." that is just such a no no to me. I would happy buy some of their products and I have, then realized too late that I'm breaking their rules.

Gif animator I have the 4 version which is good and would be cheaper for me to just upgrade than this deal. Version 6 pro is better as it has video to gif mode which is attractive, if not slow even on a fast machine, but it's that licence, you got to sort that out Karlis, else you lose customers, like you have with me. If I buy a loaf of bread it's not the bakers bread it's mine once I hand over my money.

I use tools as a pro and you need to respect that.

Lito @Nigel: FYI All software is licensed. What you buy when you buy any software is a license to use it not the actual software. This isn't an exception, though I do dislike this type of license as it is "to the computer with a hardware footprint" and not the "user". That is always a bad thing I find especially in my case since I upgrade parts of my PC randomly throughout the year, and you never know when the hardware footprint will change enough to trip it and invalidate your license. I tend to avoid software like that unless I really need it. Though it does say you can transfer the license to another owned computer I am still wary of these "footprint" licenses because they tend to have issues at the worst possible times. Nothing says you're going to have a bad day more than running into a license issue after business hours with a deadline looming.

Karlis Blumentals Indeed ALL software that exists is licensed and not sold. If you are not a lawyer then you should not try to interpret those agreements, they are basically pretty much the same, just the wording changes.

In this case the software is licensed to user and activation is thought-out, so you will never have the typical activation problems. If you change or upgrade any PC components, nothing will happen at all. You can deactivate and activate software as many times as you want as long as there are no more than the allowed number active at the same time. So any worries about activation or licensing have no grounds what so ever.
