I was very interested by Test Maker software. I run a group of students. However, I went to your webpage and read EVERY SINGLE PAGE, including features and faq. What you fail to mention anywhere is how these tests are PUBLISHED.

Do / can they be printed out, as a paper test?

Do / can they be uploaded to HTML so any web.browser can be used to do the test?

Do you have to use specific software to do the test, and what platform is required? Certainly, we cannot install bespoke software onto other peoples private computer at home just to run a test.

Improve your communication. Improve your marketing and web materials. A test is worthless if you can't publish it in the way you need to...

Dimitri Hi,
ExamJet allows you to publish a test on your local network and it's a desktop application. You can install a Tester module on your students' computers and then allow them to take a quiz.

What does that mean? We can create a form/quiz, but we can't distribute it??

What about the professional license? 5 testers means we can have it installed on 5 computers to test, but we can distribute to unlimited people or that only 5 persons will be able to fill the quiz??

lemonade soda OK. Thanks for the quick answer. This is a no-go for many many educational environments that do not have "computer rooms" or have policies of no non-standard software. I guess this is a Windows Tester Module, or do you have ChromeOS, OSX, iOS, etc?

Get you excellent application to be able to create a web-server so that students can access via web-browser. THEN you have a brilliant product, and a new customer! :D

Dimitri Hi Nelson,

You can use a Standard Version only for personal use. Professional version has no such limitations and it can be distributed freely on a local network.

5 Tester edition means that you can install the Tester module on 5 client computers only. We don't limit the number of students or tests taken by the student.

Mark Bunner "Personal use" restriction on these kinds of software is ridiculous; and invalidates the description. I can make a test for myself to take. Wow. Or, maybe (it's not clear) for my child to take. Yet, every mention of it in the description leads the reader to believe the "Standard Edition" can be distributed.

I wish BitsDuJour and other sites like this would stop this practice of misleading people.

lemonade soda Hi Dimitri. Thank you for being responsive on BDJ... many software promotions are "silent" and the developer doesnt answer questions in a reasonable time. I think the idea of "Standard Version" is for personal use only, and comes with no ability to install a tester module on another PC, is no good at all. It is therefore just a "demo" of the features and capabilities of the software. No teacher/educator/third party is going to let a student use their PC under their login so they can run a single test. That just isnt going to happen. Your Standard Version should allow at least ONE client, so the software can be used authentically. Otherwise, the offer is not in the spirit of BDJ, and also the impression you create is trialware pretending to be something it isnt. I think the rest of your pricing seems reasonable, what is important is if the Tester Module can be installed over the internet or if it has to be local LAN. So much education and testing is done remotely with virtual classrooms and virtual student groups, you need to make sure it can work in such an environment. Good luck in your further development efforts, the software looks promising.

Grateful It seems to me also that the standard version is quite useless for anyone save a homeschooling parent. This is of no use to me as is. Is this a "bait and switch" kind of offer? I truly hope I am misunderstanding the above comments.

Dimitri Greg, ExamJet can publish quizzes on a local network. Students can take quiz using a Tester module.

Bob Horton Unless I'm missing something, it appears that the standard edition is only good for designing/testing the quizzes. It can only be used on one computer at a time. I guess you could line up respondents and route them through the chair, but that seems less than feasible. If you want to administer the test(s), you need to purchase the professional edition for the number of seats that you require. It's unusual for BDJ to offer up demo software in the guise of free software, but that's what this looks like to me. Perhaps I'm reading their website incorrectly.

Richard So the first paragraph in the sales pitch/description is completely false?

"Are you a teacher or educational administrator looking for an easier way to give tests and quizzes? Have you tortured your photocopier making duplicates of exams, which you then have to grade by hand well into the wee hours of the night? Time to take your quizzes and tests to the next level with today’s discount software promotion, ExamJet Quiz Maker - Standard Edition!"

It seems like it would apply to the Professional Edition but has no relationship to what is being given away today. NO teacher or administrator is going to allow students to take tests on their computer so without being able to let students take the tests on a different computer the above paragraph is completely false.
