No Connection Adrian
The licence is for tem drives therefore it will have 'no limit on the number of secured volumes on each of the ten drives allowed'.

Joseph Elrod I have a Maxtor One Touch 4 750 GB external hard drive that connects to my computer via UBS cable. The software that came with this Maxtor product will not back up my Windows XP Pro operating system, nor any applications like Outlook Express or my email. It will back up things like pictures (.jpg) and music (Mp3) files. I would like assurance that your product can be used with my Maxtor external hard drive. I am also concerned about installation. Would I have to uninstall all current Maxtor software before installing your software? I would like assurance that if your product can be used with the Maxtor One Touch 4 750 GB external hard drive, that it will back up and store on the external hard drive my operating system and all applications and files on my computer (including Norton Antivirus). Can you provide this assurance?

Lance Fowler Hi alpha omega, the license we issue for a single user includes 2 activations which can be used however you like.

Hi Adrian, the number of drives you are allowed to use this with is not limited.

Hi Joseph Elrod, I am sorry to say but we do not support the Maxtor One Touch due to the One Touch's model name which comes up in windows. They do not have a regular windows formatted name which is a problem. All other drives that I know of are supported. Sorry again.

Sharon Mills I would like to back up an external HD to another HD. Does this program allow this?

Could it be set up to backup an internal HD to an external, and at the same time back up an EHD to another EHD?

Tom Colvin What's the difference between EzBackUp and EzBackUp 101?

I just bought a Western Digital 320-gig portable drive and installed the Memeo backup software that came bundled. It appears that it was a trial version only, and I must pay for it after 30 days. Also, it backs up in compressed format, which I hate, as I prefer to have access to every backed up file in native format.

It appears that EzBackup does backup in native format. Is this true?

There's a good chance I'll delete the Memro software and the backup I did with it, and replace all with your software. I'll be using it on both my home and business desktops -- two activations. Thanks for that.

Lance Fowler Hi Tom Colvin, EzBackup Full creates a 1:1 image which is bootable and has the capability to perform file backups.
Ezbackup 101 is just a complete file backup only for your documents, emails, photos, music, and videos.
Also we do not compress files to not have to worry about corruption effects.

If anyone has any questions you may e-mail me directly at lfowlerezd2d.com

Brad Hi,

I cannot view the manual for EZ-BackUp it seems unless you are forced to download the Adobe PDF Reader which I do not use and would'nt have on my system.(Bloat) I do though use another PDF viewer and it has been registered in Windows XP Pro as my default application for viewing PDF files. So why does EZ-Backup insist that download Adobe Reader. I have even tried to go to the top of your menu under help and view the manual as I want to see the functionality and it is still insisting that I download Adobe? Another question also Is EZBackup primarily an imaging program which images an entire drive rather then doing an individual files/folders backup. Which does an initial backup and then will do incrementals after that? I cannot seem to get past the initial configuartion screen where it insists that the target drive I choose is required to be 15% larger than the source drive it is backing up from. I have even gone to the preferences and check marked "allow backup to other locations as well as the backup device" ?

Randolph Eason Can I create backup jobs where any job contains a pre-selection of a number of file or folders, then I can run any specific backup job? Or must I select the files & folders I want backed up each time I run a backup?

Lance Fowler Hi Ran,

Yes, we have a scheduling manager where you can either backup your New/Modified files only or Selected Files which you choose but you must have an initial image. The initial image does not take long at all and after that you may do whatever you like with it.

Alexander Bokovikov I completely agree, that such software is useful. But in my opinion such "sector-in-sector" HDD copying is not so tricky thing. Its main disadvantage is that it creates really exact copy of the source HDD. For eample, if you'll use 2 TB HDD, as a backup for your 1 TB work disk, you'll get only 1 TB "visible" total space, if you'll load such backup into your PC.

It would be much more interesting tool, which would update (accomodate) free disk space (for all partitions or for the last one) to the real volume of the backup drive. Did you ever think about such option? It would really help me when I'll upgrade my HDD...

Lance Fowler Hi Everyone,

To answer your questions:

Alexander - I see no disadvantage to having a complete backup in case you must restore your drive which is the key thing. Would you rather have a complete backup or a not so complete backup? We create an incremental partition in the unallocated space of your HDD. We do not waste space. There are no invisible spots of the backup drive, we allow full access to your drive.

Bonnie - You need no new install codes since we copy everything over and when you need to restore your hard drive, everything will be there.

Sorry I took so long, the Bits Dujour posting was giving me problems.
You can also try out the EzBackup 5.0 for 30 days free.
I would like to know what you think about it.

Lance Fowler

Alan What is the licensing for this?

I have one computer but I run 4-5 VMWare virtual Windows machines to do various things. I would like a way to back each of these up. Would I need more than 1 license?

Alexander Bokovikov [I see no disadvantage to having a complete backup in case you must restore your drive which is the key thing.]

Once more - I completely agree that backup copies making - is very good practice. And I completely agree that your tool is _very_ useful. The only I'd like to tell about was free space losses.

[We do not waste space]

Can you exactly and clearly answer - Can I automatically or manually enlarge my existing partitions when I make backup from, say, 1 TB HDD to 1.5 TB HDD? For example, now I have two partitions of 200 GB and 800 GB. Can I assign 300 GB and 1200 GB, as partitions sizes at my new (backup) 1.5 TB HDD?
If yes, then I'll definitely will write your tool down into my copybook! :-)
