Noggin The Nog What does "1 installation per footprint" mean? That seems to mean that if you uninstall the software from a computer you cannot reinstall it on the same computer.

major4579 I've downloaded and installed FILEminimizer PDF and ran a few PDFs through it. Very impressed. A 43 MB combined text and scanned documents went from 43 MB to 0.7 MB. Other documents were not as drastic but still a it looks like a very useful tool. Thanks.

The Fine Print says:
"Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your free license key."

Does this mean any upgrade, even minor ones?

If that's the case then we should deselect "Auto Check for Upgrades" under the Help menu.

You can upgrade to FILEminimizer Suite 7.0 where you can optimize beside the PDFs also MS Office and image files.
The upgrade costs $ 54.00.

I would like to know, is this PDF compression reversible if for some reason you want to reverse it?

Does that mean that the images will be smaller than before when one views them?

How big is the FILEminimizer PDF 7.0 folder and/or file itself? If it's really big I think I would lose more than I would gain by compressing.

Nebulous User I have to agree - It reduced a 58MB PDF (a catalog) down to 4MB and I see no loss in image quality.

On the other hand, I downloaded a 13.8MB brochure from a resort website and it couldn't reduce it all all. Another file - one I created - was reduced only from 3.24MB PDF to 3.22MB.

These things are to be expected. Some PDF generators do a better job with compression than others. Plus I believe I already optimized the one I created with a different tool that I have, so it's impressive that it gave me any gain at all!).

This software gets extra props for being lightening fast and very simple to use (no learning curve at all). I've tried a few solutions, but this definitely appears to be the best so far!

Lewis Everall @conceptualclarity : FILEminimizer PDF optimizes the original file and creates you an optimized, smaller file. So you have both files that you can compare them. If the optimized file is better for you then you can delete the original file.

There is a setting "Identical Pixels". If you use this setting to optimize the files the pixels stay identical to the original file.

The file folder of FILEminimizer PDF is 9MB so that's not much.
You gain space when you optimize the files. So you can't get more MB if you reduce files.

@gail f: You can test it yourself. We made the experience, that if you save with Adobe the file as a "reduced size" you can still optimize it with FILEminimizer PDF and depending on the file you optimize them more or less.

What will happen, if the computer crashes or if I buy a new one ?
Will I get the answer: "You are still registered, please buy a second copy ?
Sorry, but I made no good experience with this activation system, because if I send a mail to the support, I often will get no answer and I can't use the software which I bought (and the money you got).

Or how do you handle these cases if the hardware ID changed ?

this was not the question.
The first activation after buying is not the problem, but later if a problem occurs and I have to install and activate it again.
If I buy a software I want to use or install it every time, even after my PC crashes or I buy a new one.

Again my question: If I had activated the bought software and I want to activate it again after a few weeks or months under a new Harware ID, what will happen ?
Must I send begging mails to you and wait until I get an answer ?
I want to know this BEFORE I buy this software.

Flo @ Rudi... I am not the vendor, but I own a license and needed to reinstall a few months ago. Yes, you will have to contact support and "beg" for an activation code. I received it without issues. You will not be able to register the same license on a different PC online without contacting them. Hope this helps answer your question.

How does FILEminimizer compare to other pdf compression software in terms of file reduction (in %, speed quality loss)? HKP How many times have a customer to buy your license if he intends to use Balesio FILEminimizer PDF 7.0 for several years on his present computer?

I purchased this version 7.0 already on April 6th 2011. After less than three weeks, the software refused to start. It asked on April 25th 2011 for activation again. Therefore, the activation-window popped up, which have three tabs. If you click on the first tab, you get the choice between online-activation and manual activation. If this incident occurs the first time, you can reach the window behind the second tab. There you cannot simply enter your given registration key. You have to use this second tab to create a long cryptic code. This code you need to send by e-mail to the vendor, who returns a manual activation code by e-mail, which has to be entered also in the window behind the second tab. After doing this, I was able to use the software for only a couple of weeks. Then Balesio FILEminimizer PDF 7.0 refused to start again. This time I was led directly from tab 1 to tab 3. Tab 2 was now out of reach. The software lied I had activated Balesio FILEminimizer PDF 7.0 too many times. However, I used still the same computer, had not been new composed my Windows and haven’t even reinstalled Balesio FILEminimizer PDF 7.0. In other words: I had only reactivated the software one time because the software demanded this reactivation.

I would like to buy a new license for my present computer. However, can you assure me that this time I will keep the activation permanently, without the program demanding repeatedly for reactivations?
