Adolphe I haven't received the email either. It's not in spam, of course.

When I try to request it again, the site tells me I already have a licence, and it's in my account, so I need to go to my account.

But I don't have any "account". When I try to open one, this is the subscription to a paid cloud service.

Adolphe It seems there's a bug currently with the email service of Bits du Jour. I received a strange email following my last comment, which seemed aimed at the software publisher, not at me.

Also, this email includes a Genie support "email ticket", which I did not ask for. I did not make any request to support.

Support Just a note for other potential customers;
when you go to purchase the pro or server editions

NOTE: this is my understanding....

You 'cannot' select the 3-pack that is presented in the advertisement for this promotion.

therefore, if you want 2 licenses - you need to purchase two single licenses...

if you attempt to purchase the 3-pack, the BDJ promo code will not be applied.

I hope this helps and stand to be corrected if I am wrong.

The advertisement for the 3-pack is a bit misleading for this promotion.

Adolphe The publisher did send me the licence number. I installed the program and kicked the tyres. Unfortunately, I uninstalled it right away, for the same reasons I had done so with a similar promotional offer a few years ago :

- Genie Timeline starts with Windows. There's no way to stop this. You can exit the program once it's launched, but there's no option to have it start manually.

- The program screen is tiny, and there's no way to maximize it (at least on my Windows 7 setup).

- In order to complete installation, you need to setup the backup, and it starts immediately. You need to stop it after it has started if you don't want this. I haven't found any way to circumvent this.

- Settings and options are quite limited for a backup program.

Gene User I can't find a setting to delete a backup job. It can only be revised. Also looks like the program only allows one backup job.

In order for you to delete a backup job, you need to go to the drive you're backing up to and delete the _Genie Timeline folder. After that, go to the Genie Timeline software and configure a new backup job.

Mr Dave I've had this program for over a year now and it's saved me a few times when I delete something by mistake or a program crashes during a save and wipes out the file I was saving. My only complaint is that there is no way I can find to purge older versions in the backup folder, or limit how many versions are saved. So I have dozens of versions of some files. It seems like when I try to go to the backup folder directly and delete the oldest versions, it messes up the backup process (might be coincidence). So once I start getting too many files, I move the backups to another place and start over with a new backup set. Then I can delete older versions, still recover files I need for a few versions back, and new versions are getting backed up. Not ideal, more effort than it should be, but it works. I never use the program interface except when setting up or changing a backup job, All the backup files are stored a ,zip files, so it's very easy to recover things from the backup folder without the Genie program. I still recommend it!
