GiMeSpace Please note that there is also a beta version available on the GiMeSpace website. The official version only supports access to RAM folders by applications with a GUI. The beta version also supports most console/powershell applications without a GUI.
Please note that some applications block injection off dll files and for that do not have access to RAM folders, this includes some Microsoft apps and some browsers. So it is good to test your applications first in the free trial mode of RAM Folder Pro.

GiMeSpace Please note that you need to run this program as administrator if you want to use it with other programs that run as administrator (typically setup and installation programs). If you never run programs as administrator then there is no need to run this program as administratorl. For more information see the GiMeSpace website.

Al Kulich I see that the app can use NVIDIA cards. Can it also use AMD cards as well?

GiMeSpace Hi Al Kulich. This program can use all GPU's (NVidia, Amd and Intel) as long as it has dedicated VRAM. If there is no VRAM then there is no point enabling this option since it would only use the normal RAM.

Wade Townsend Please be aware that after I purchased this program and attempted to download it to my laptop - MS Windows 11 has blocked the download as it recognizes the program as Dangerous and no matter what I do to try to bypass the issue the file remains blocked!!! Normally one can bypass this but not this time as Windows is really clamping down on these type of programs...

Please advise on how to correct this. Otherwise, I may have to ask for a refund.

GiMeSpace Hi Leif, Like written in the documentation, it is safe to store temporary files in ram folders. Not files you need to keep. If you enable only file caching then that is even more safe than the windows file caching.

What is the difference between a RAM disk and a RAM folder?

Since both are using RAM how is it that one can be 20x faster?

GiMeSpace Hi Stephen, There are many differences between RAM disks and RAM folder. Like the name already indicated, it doesn't create a new disk, it converts a folder on your existing disk into a folder that is stored in RAM. Also it doesn't use a driver, it uses user mode hooking which avoids having to go through kernel mode which saves a lot of time when doing a lot of random access reads/writes. This is the reason why these reads/writes can be up to 20x faster then ramdisks who have to go through kernel mode.
Since RAM disks are already much faster than SSD's this means that RAM Folder is even more faster than SSD's. How much depends on your specific system.

GiMeSpace Hi Stephen, there are some programs that go very heavy on disk access like for example some audio/video editors use the disk as virtual memory while not using much of the RAM at all, by converting their temporary storage folders to RAM folders you can force them to use the RAM instead of the disk.
Certain games can also benefit by either copying their files to a RAM folder or select their folders as being cached.
It is always important to understand if these files are temporary, meaning the program still works after deleting the files or if they never should be deleted, in that case you select the caching option for that specific folder.

Rimka I bought RAM Folder pro couple of days ago and now keep regularly seeing BSOD's with MEMORY MANAGEMENT error. Win 11 Pro 24H2, RAM 64 Gb, i7-8850H. The program was just installed as is and runs in background with default settings. It is quite sad, I had bright hopes and was going to play with it.

BTW the app KVM SharePro from the same developer is awesome! So I hope that the next version of RAM Folder Pro will have a fix and will work as intended

GiMeSpace Hi Rimka, Likely you have only selected your temporary folder as RAM folder and you might have some programs that don't work properly with this.
I recommend to remove the temporary folder from RAM folder and start experimenting with specific folders that receive heavy disk access from certain programs. You can for example move games in a ram folder or assign the temporary folders that are used by audio/video editors for faster virtual memory.

Rimka Thanks Jorrit, I will follow your advise and see how it goes. Would it be possible to include kind of warning that the RAM folder shows after installation and first launch? Something like "you have such and such software installed that may cause BSOD if the temporary folder is loaded"..

Also, could you please clarify this statement from The Fine Print "Each license allows installation on a single computer AND a laptop" vs "This registration fee will license a user to use one copy of this software on ONE computers, and only one operating system on that computer." from the Full License? Is it one or two computers (same owner\user)?

GiMeSpace Hi Rimka, yes your suggestion makes sense, I will do something about that in the next release. For this bitsdujour promo I allow you to activate the software on both your desktop and laptop, but in general a license is only valid for the lifetime of one computer.

GiMeSpace Hi Rimka. Version 2.2.5 is now released that does mention potential issues when using the Windows temporary folder. Also you have to specify this folder now yourself if you want to test this, it is not automatically selected anymore when installing this software.

Can 32 bit and 64 bit versions work side by side and manage different folders simultaneously?

The new option to use Large Memory Pages to boost all you memory intensive apps can be used even if you don't use RAM folders at all. Enable this setting during setup and in the control panel and make sure you run the desired apps with administrator rights.
