umike - What folder or files do I backup if I have to reinstall everything?

- Must I backup the photos I took with webcam in GooPatient before I reinstall everything? Which folder are the webcam photos in?

- After I attached a photo to the profile or record, can I delete the original photo afterwards?

- Is there a help file for user? I know your program is simple to use but not everyone in my family knows how to use pc very well.

Yuriy Loza umike, please send the 2 first questions to supportgoopatient.com - the folder depends on your Windows version

You can't delete photo inside the program - you can only delete the link to the photo. If you want to physically delete the photo - you can do it as usual in Windows folder

Rich Ackerson I downloaded the app and it looks like just the thing I've been looking for. I could have been content with the free single-account version offered on your website but I figured I could purchase the full family version offered here.

Unfortunately, even though I purchased over 5 hours ago and have received an email confirmation and receipt, I have NOT yet received an email from the vendor with either a download link to the family version or a code to register the single-user version.

When can I expect to receive this?

Mark Johnson I'm currently using the free Microsoft Healthvault for organizing medical records, adding personal medical info, etc. Healthvault also links directly into medical provider accounts so (example) the same day I get a blood test from Quote Diagnostics or LabCorp I get the results directly in my Healthvault account.

What can you tell me about GooPatient that would draw me away from Healthvault?

Thanks,
Mark.

Yuriy Loza Matei,
thanks, maybe in future. Please contact us at supportgoopatient.com to be in touch

Mark,
Yes, Healthvault is good for linking health records with medical providers. But it's very inconvenient for day to day health records. That's why we created Goopatient - it makes health records simple like Twitter and lets you better understand your health
Alfa.NetSoft - Aug 9 2013 at 6:27am Copy Link
0
Mark Johnson I see. Healthvault is geared more toward keeping records of doctor visits, test results, info to share with doctors, health problems, daily exercise, weight, prescriptions, etc. and Goopatient is more of a daily health and ailment diary. Thanks for the info!

Data security in Goopatient is much better than in Healthvault for example, because data is stored on your computer, but not online. The family version allows to store the data in any folder, so the security level is even higher

Mark Johnson "Data security in Goopatient is much better than in Healthvault for example, because data is stored on your computer, but not online. The family version allows to store the data in any folder, so the security level is even higher"

Sorry, but I do not agree with that statement at all, and I DEFINITELY do not agree that choosing a folder on your pc for a sqlite database to be stored in is a security measure!

HealthVault data is encrypted and can only be accessed with secured login. It is far more secure than an unencrypted document stored on your local computer or cell phone. Unencrypted data stored on your computer can be accessed on a compromised computer through a trojan or other types of software, and of course the computer or cell phone itself can be stolen or perhaps accessed by others you don't know about while you're not around.

The 'How to sync desktop and mobile apps' section of your website suggests using online storage services to transfer data between the two. To sync the two versions of your application, the entire database is transferred from the pc to an online service and then to the cell phone. That is decidedly less secure than Healthvault where you are always accessing the data from the same secured online source and not transferring the entire database from place to place to place.

I see that Goopatient stores data in a sqlite database. Unencrypted data in a sqlite database is easy for anybody with a little technical knowledge to access. Is the Goopatient data encrypted before storing in the sqlite database?
Aug 9 2013 at 10:23am Copy Link
0
Yuriy Loza Mark, it's a philosophical question, what is more secure, cloud or local PC. Of course, computer can break but even the highly protected services like Google and Amazon sometimes leak data. And you can sync the Goopatient mobile and desktop version via USB if you don't trust Dropbox.

Alfa.NetSoft - Aug 9 2013 at 11:04am Copy Link

Mark Johnson Yuriy, does Goopatient encrypt the data before it is stored in the sqlite database? If it does, and uses a good encryption mechanism, then indeed it is valid to compare the security to HealthVault if Goopatient is only ever accessed from a single device. If Goopatient does not encrypt the data, then there is no security whatsoever since it is very simple to read an unencrypted sqlite database. Using Goopatient on multiple devices is definitely less secure since the entire database has to reside on those devices and also on any medium used to transfer the database between devices.

"... and remember the sad story with Google Health..."
Yeah, Google Health stopped allowing new accounts in 2011 but kept the existing user accounts available until January, 2013. Long before Google shut it down, they recommended all current users export their data and import it into MS Healthvault.

Yuriy, I'm not trying to be argumentative here but you stated that data in Goopatient is more secure than Microsoft Healthvault so I'm just asking how that is.

thanks,
Mark.
Aug 9 2013 at 12:04pm Copy Link

Yuriy Loza Mark,
Goopatient encrypts only password and user profile data, but it's hard to imagine (for now) that someone will develop a trojan specially to steal someone's Goopatient database, while Healthvault can be really a target for hackers and they may try to steal the database and publish it somewhere. And Healthvault can well follow the Google Health if Microsoft won't sell much Surfaces and Windows licenses

Mary Wilson Is this for the family version? I was trying it out the program and could only put my own basic information in not my husbands. Going to the websight it says that I am getting one program for the price but it does give you the option for purchasing more than one copy. What exactly is considered the family version? What exact is included in a six month license? After the six months do you give an upgrade discounts? If you decided not to upgrade, what happens to the program? Does it stop working so I can no longer add or access the information? I see there is a place for a password. Does this mean that the data is encrypted? Also they say there a synch ability but I could not find out what it synchs to? Is it to the iPhone which is what I have? What app does the data go If so, what app will I be using?
Aug 1 2014 at 7:18am Copy Link

Yuriy Loza Mary,
Yes, this is a family version that allows to manage multiple profiles
Until now all upgrades were free, and we have no plans to charge for upgrades
You can use the program for unlimited time, it will never stop working
The data is not encrypted, but protected by password
The Family version includes Android app and can sync with it

_*_ I purchased the software this morning and come to realize this is one of the silliest payment systems I have run across.

1. When you choose PayPal you are still forced to put in all your personal data; thus defeating the purpose of PayPal.
2. Payment is held up for some odd reason that I am unaware and the customer must wait for a phone call in order to have payment completed it appears.
3. Waiting for phone call to get code to turn it into Family version.

Why can't you simply send me my code via email, like approximately 99% of other vendors?
Aug 1 2014 at 8:31am Copy Link
0
Yuriy Loza Sorry, but that's how our e-commerce provider works. We have to use this service because they allow to accept multiple payment options. In most cases orders are processes fast, but sometimes they undertake additional security measures

Down Theshore The data isn't encrypted? Why not? Simple password protection of all medical information for a person seems to be insufficient security.
Aug 1 2014 at 8:56am Copy Link
0
_*_ @Yuriy Loza, what you wrote is not an answer to clear issues with your payment system. You should take the time to locate an e-commerce provider that does not require users to type in their personal data when it is not necessary.

Also, additional security measures that require a phone call seem a bit archaic. It is like stating an older DOS based medical software system is what has to be worked with since it accepts multiple providers; just silly.

Due diligence for customers is a good thing. There are plenty of providers that respect customers personal data and do not ask for it when it is not necessary.

Please, just charge my PayPal account and send me the code, or do not charge me at all.

Yuriy Loza Down, as the data is stored locally on your PC, there is now need to encrypt it. Your friends and family members that access your computer won't be able to view your data without special knowledge and knowing your password

Lito I have to agree with the sentiment here how can you possibly not have any encryption on the health data records? Even if it's stored locally, that is still a security issue. You do realize that laptops and desktops do get get stolen? Similarly it seems that just copying the data to an SD card lets you put it on your mobile version so that in itself should make encryption an absolute necessity. Most of the data would be easily viewable with no difficulty in any hex editor available out there. To me for this type of program not having encryption is a MAJOR design flaw.

ByteSmith I have other programs that I feel requires data encryption even though the application does not support it. The simple solution is to locate the folder or file where the data is stored, and set the folder or file to encrypted. Directions here: http://windows.microsoft....=windows-7

Chris Roy Jackson I hope that what @Yurly said about encryption (the lack thereof in this program) was a MIS-Statement !!!
Upon a quick looking over of their Website, if all described functions of the program are properly operational, it appears to be a very comprehensive and useful tool for maintaining quick and accurate access to your Medical Records!
However, that being said:
If it truly does NOT Encrypt the information entered into it:
NO One should use it unless their Health records contain NOTHING that they would not want the WHOLE WORLD to know !!!
If their is no Encryption, I would STRONGLY advise Alfa.NetSoft to have their Developer include Encryption IMMEDIATELY!!!
As useful and functional as this software is, NO Encryption makes this a "NO GO" for me. Even though my Computer is protected as well as (or better than) most Banks. Security is only as strong as it's weakest link and I would like to also use my Android device with this and PERHAPS even "The Cloud" ... Impossible without Strong Encryption.
I hope that they will take this matter seriously and I look forward to their next offering here WITH the necessary Security (Encryption) in place.

Bill Sech I like the concept of keeping a good medical records database, however does it have to be called "goo patient". I mean, that is not exactly an inspiring medical name. I like to think of myself as a good patient, or a healthy patient. Goo Patient. Makes it sound like you were just in an accident. Formerly he was an intact patient, however after getting hit by that truck he is a "goo patient"....

Bill Sech, the program was created to replace Google Health (that was closed). that was the idea of the title. but thanks for your advice

James User Bill Sech, I disagree with you. You make good points sometimes. But, not this time. First off, "Goo" doesn't have any meaning in any language that means you are hurt or disabled in any way, so saying this has a negative meaning is uncalled for. Maybe in your mind, you have formed your own language, and in your language, goo means something bad. But, you never said so. I think you really dropped the ball here, and probably need to apologize.

About the program itself, my Doctors use the online mychart concept. Maybe not every local doctor does, so this program might have a market in this area. But, every doctor or hospital I've seen so far uses at least a form of mychart. I call mychart a concept, because some doctors and hospitals use a variation of online tools that allow a patient to do the same things that mychart does.

Bill, that wasn't a nice thing to say. GooPatient, I believe you have a profitable market, but not a big one. Examine mychart, and see if you can make GooPatient able to work with it somehow. This might prove very valuable to some people.

Bill Sech James User, Oh Baloney Anybody who has grown up in the United States knows that goo means like well here is the definition from dictionary.com
"adjective, gooier, gooiest.
1.
like or covered with goo; sticky; viscid."
Like I said, Jim, I think having electronic medical records is a good Idea. As you can see by the above definition the name goo patient can be seen by some as a disgusting name in relation to their health, as it conjures up the less attractive aspects of mishaps and medical procedures. In the realm of advice I haven't dropped the ball I've thrown an accurate pitch, and like hell, I'll apologize for giving my honest opinion. You may not think, personally, that it was very nice however I think it to be very accurate. I like the software, however, I do not like the name. This is what comment sections are for James, if you are going to read them get used to it.

Chris I would have purchased but you only use PayProGlobal. If I could send you the $ via PayPal or you send me a PayPal invoice I would still purchase it.

_*_ @James User, The MyChart is likely nothing more than a health portal which allows patients to access their medical records from their network providers.

It is unlikely that GooPatient could ever work with any of these portals.

GooPatient is more about keeping personal medical records for yourself or your family.
One of the benefits of GooPatient is any personal information stays with you and remains private.
Another benefit (while not perfect); you can use GooPatient to track your family pet records as well. Cannot do that with a med portal.

Regarding the name. I do not think it is a great name from a marketing point-of-view. Goo does make me think of slime, and I had no idea there was such a program called Google Health, so it seemed like an odd name.

Goo could stand for, Good Outpatient Overview! Well, it is an attempt anyway. :o)

_*_ @Yuriy Loza, are there any plans to update GooPatient within the next six months? Since I already own version 2.0 and updates are only good for six months I am unsure if I should purchase here today for future upgrades.

Thanks

Bill Sech Just for the record, yes I did purchase myself a copy as I think that for this discount price, it is a good little personal medical database, the keeping of which, as I previously mentioned is a good idea, (in spite of its name).

Edward Smith Purchased the program, spent some time imputing information. Ever time I try to print anything, it freezes. I have to terminate the program. Went to Facebook page to see if there was anything there that would help. Nothing since July of 2014? And the entry before that was November 2013. Is this still in development? $4.99 is expensive for a program that is no longer in development. Clearly the Facebook page been abandoned.

Shazza I’m kind of interested, but having read the previous comments, I’m wondering if anything has been done re the issues raised.
1) When was the last time an update to the application was released?
2) Is the data stored in the database still unencrypted, or has that issue been addressed?

Yuriy Loza Hi Shazza,
1. The last update was in November 2019
2. Yes, we think that keeping the data on own computer in sdf database and password-protected is secure enough for personal health records (more secure than encrypted in the cloud). Encryption would slow down the program. Besides if you encrypt the database, you'll also want to encrypt all attached medical docs and images.
