Garry Taylor Hi Jon,
Sorry, I don't know what you're referring to, we've not set up any kind of alert system, where have you heard about that?

Thanks

Garry

Sorry, this used to be a really useful BitsDuJour option which stopped working quite a while ago. If you look at the URL below, you'll see a "I want this" button for something else that is coming up soon for timely alerts. There was one for Halide as well before it was finally available (I may have been first customer).

L Spark Just purchased this, but it says that it is incompatible with my version of Windows, which is Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit. Not a happy camper.

Garry Taylor Yes, sorry, Halide is 64 bit only.

L Spark If it is 64 bit only, why are there subfolders in the dll folder for both x86 and x64? If it is 64 bit only, why does it install effortlessly on a 32 bit computer, and just throw the error when it is opened? I have never had a 64 bit that did not throw the error upon an installation attempt, and end the install at that point.

I have to admit that I have no idea why developers think everyone has 64 bit computers. My household has 3 desktops, 2 laptops, 2 tablets, and 2 smartphones. One desktop and 1 laptop are 64 bit, neither of them mine. My 32 bit computer runs Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as many other behemoth programs very well. What is it about Halide that requires 64 bit power?

And the big question: why wasn't it listed in the requirements? Okay. End of rant. Please just add it to the list of requirements.

Garry Taylor Halide uses OpenCV, and it looks like the default build of that supplies both 32-bit and 64-bit DLLs.

Making Halide 64-bit only was about memory allocation, not about power, once you've got a big film scan, it's surprising how small 4GB of memory becomes. We could make 32 bit and 64 bit builds, but of course the 32 bit base is shrinking all the time, and the support headache, honestly, probably isn't worth it for such a small, and dwindling number of users.
