What are people saying about Handy Label Maker

Amit I get the following error at order placement after logging into paypal and cliking pay now -

Invalid Order Action

at regnow address in addressbar.

What's THIS all About ???
"Dear Customer,
We were unable to verify that the information you entered on the order form is valid.

please contact our customer service department for assistance.

For reference, your order id is 3A7B**H-B***DB."

I have an account with Reg Now... I don't understand why I am NOT being forwarded to PayPal to complete my Payment !!!

Sincerely, Chris Roy Jackson

Chris Roy Jackson STILL No Reply by the Developer !!!??????

Their PayMnet Processor just continues to tell me to initiate another Order (Standard "Template Emails") Ya... SURE...Like I'm REALLY going to pay Full Price when I placed an Order (in "Good Faith") at ½ price !!! ???
I don't think Reg Now even bothered to read my email or checked my Order Number.
In ANY DECENT Order System the Order should be retained with a "Pending Status" if All processes (ie. Payment) are not yet completed (as their error message indicated to me) and yet I remember a customer Service person (at ONE of these companies) a few months back telling me that they could NOT Access the Order!!!

It "seems" that RegNow doesn't care if its customers lose sales as a result of defects in their Ordering System! It ALSO seems (from trackyourtrades.com lack of participation on the "Comments Page") that the Developer doesn't really care how many new customers that they may gain as a result of this promotion!!!

If "Bits" wants to contact me regarding this matter thay can send an Email to me (getting it from my Login ID ( " ChrisRoyJackson " ).

Sincerely, Chris Roy Jackson

Christ Milesis Mr. Jackson,
The RegNow ordering process is outside our jurisdiction. We have no role or connection with them insofar as order processing is concerned, other than simply posting our offer and allowing them to be a payment initiator. Beyond that, we do not have control over their error handling or fulfillment. I truly hope you obtain satisfaction from them. Good luck...

Chris Roy Jackson Dear Christ,
The PROBLEM with that is that THEY (RegNow) have NOT bothered to keep their "Pending Orders" in their System so that they can Track what problem occurred with an Order and thereby reach a satisfactory Resolution to the Problem (ie. a completed sale)!!! I REALIZE that you cannot control THEM, howver you DO choose whether or not to continue giving them your business if they don't improve !!!
ALSO, you CAN choose to offer me an alternate Payment method (ie. send me a direct PayPal link) so that I can complete the purchase!! The ONLY option RegNow is giving me is to pay FULL price instead of the 50% Discount that I originally ordered from you!

Thanks-in-Advance for your assistance,
Chris Roy Jackson

JW Is this 'format-able' - or perhaps 'customisable' would be a better question? Are we all doomed to accept the American form of Addresses?! Other than the US I'm not aware of others that use 'States' - although I accept that probably no-one else uses 'Counties' either!

Jan 19 2013 at 3:01am Copy Link

Christ Milesis The fields in "Add contact" are not customizable, but will accept any text. Also, on the main form, for printing an 'on-the-fly' one time label, Lines 1 through 5 accept any text irrespective of country, etc.

LU Are there any plans to enhance the program such as:
Allowing more templates to be used.
Allow the system to use different fonts.
Allow for things such as Bold, italic, underline, etc.

Jan 19 2013 at 11:14am Copy Link

Christ Milesis Thank you for your questions regarding lifetime upgrades for Handy Label Maker (HLM). The reason HLM utilizes a straightforward, plain text is so the automated machines at the Postal Service can read the address. The following is an excerpt from the USPS guidelines for addressing mail: "Fancy type fonts such as those used on wedding invitations do not read well on mail processing equipment. Fancy fonts look great on your envelopes, but also may slow down your mail". Having said that, we do provide a 'Bold' option in the case of Envelope addressing. After selecting envelope size, simply click the 'Bold' checkbox to print your address in Bold.

LU Thank you for that.

As to my other question, do you expect to upgrade the software to fit more compatible label templates instead of only Avery 5160 and 8160 or am I missing something here?

Will your software also be able to use barcodes in the future as well?

Jan 19 2013 at 2:07pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis So glad you asked about barcodes, because we are currently working on it and plan to incorporate barcode functionality in a future release.

Concerning label sizes, Handy Label Maker supports Avery 5160 and 8160 (these are both 1" x 2 5/8") for regular label printing, as well as Avery 5167 (1/2" x 1 3/4") for return address label printing. We have no plans to offer more label sizes. If you have a particular label size you would like included, we would consider it for evaluation.

Track Your Trades - Jan 19 2013 at 2:45pm Copy Link

LU Again, thank you. do not have a particular one in mind, it is that sometimes in life, things happen and we need a variety of things.

For example, around Christmas time, many people ship large size packages and would need a larger size label as well as a larger size font. That is why I was asking about the variety of labels and fonts size.

Also, since this program is not needed by most on a regular basis, are there plans for a portable version?

Jan 19 2013 at 3:26pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis Regarding a portable version, we are exploring ways to develop a version for tablets, and possibly smartphones, across iOS, Android, and Windows Phone platforms.

Also, it should be noted that portability is satisfied by laptops and netbooks, and since Handy Label Maker can be installed on those devices, it is already portable to some extent. Nonetheless, as mentioned, we are cognizant of the mobile revolution and are exploring it.

Ian User Tried the trial and can't import an csv address file - get error number 9 - subscript out of range.

Jan 20 2013 at 12:22am Copy Link

Christ Milesis Ian, I suspect the csv file is somehow not in the correct format. You might want to look at the file by opening it in a text editor like NotePad, to see if you can detect the problem. Alternatively, if you send me the file, I will gladly examine it and most likely will be able to fix it for you.

disenchanted Can this "directly" create upc or barcode labels?

Currently if I need barcode/upc labels I must:
1. use a upc creator.
2. I enter upc number,
3. software creates the barcode as a .PNG or ,GIF and then
4. I "paste" that image file into my Dymo label program. Then play with it a bit, stretching and resizing, until it fills label.

It's a cumbersome process.

Nov 18 2016 at 11:19pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis Thank you for your interest. Handy Label Maker does not support the creation of upc or barcode labels.

Tony Lee Can it print on customized envelope sizes I input myself in metric units?

I am in Japan and the sizes here are often totally different than US etc..

Nov 20 2016 at 7:57pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis Hi Tony,
Actually, there are six (6) different envelope sizes, described in standard stationary sizes as well as inches. They are not expressed in metric units, but with so many sizes to choose from, you should be able be able to make it work for you. Thanks...
Chris

Jim Hilton Nothing handy about this program. Limited templates (6?), No field flexibility etc etc. The program should be called "Handy MAILING label maker".

Jun 28 2019 at 12:11pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis Hi Jim,
Actually, there are many handy aspects about the program, with six different templates (label size choices), and useful field flexibility (left-justified or centered, bold, or italic print). These, of course, are just a few of the many features that individuals and small business owners like about the program. We do agree the program's primary benefit is to streamline mailing tasks. Thanks for your opinion and perspective...
All the best,
Chris

Marc User Does HLM support the Dymo Labelwriter?

May 19 2020 at 6:43am Copy Link

Christ Milesis It does not. The Dymo Labelwriter uses a proprietary paper type and software. If you own this type of printer, the proprietary software is bundled with it.

L. D. User I live 'down under' in Australia where we mostly use THREE LETTERS to represent each of the States within the country... eg. NSW (New South Wales) ACT (Australian Capital Territory) QLD (Queensland) VIC (Victoria) TAS (Tasmania) etc.

So I'd like to know,,, is it possible with this program to enter 3 digits (instead of just two letters) to represent the State within the country that the person resides in?

Or is the program ONLY really designed to deal with inputting and printing up American based addresses for envelopes?

May 19 2020 at 11:11pm Copy Link

Christ Milesis Thank for you for your question, mate. The State field is designed to accept only 2 characters, so it would not be suitable for use in Australia.
All the best,
Chris

Vincent Whitfield Can I print labels made with this software on a Dymo LabelWriter or only on a laser or inkjet printer?

Sep 26 2021 at 11:54am Copy Link

Christ Milesis Hi Vincent,
Thanks for your interest in our Handy Label Maker software.

Handy Label Maker has advanced, robust import and export capabilities. So, once you have entered or imported your contacts into Handy Label Maker's Contacts file, you can export those contacts into a smartphone, Excel, email system, computer, or a device such as Dymo LabelWriter. Of course, we do not offer support for Dymo LabelWriter devices, so it is beyond the scope of this discussion to elaborate on the specific steps, but yes, you should be able to import your contacts from Handy Label Maker to Dymo LabelWriter.

All the best,
Chris
