What are people saying about HDD Regenerator

Albert C. Gosh, I bought at full price 3-4 weeks ago... :-S

Anyway, I'd like to ask the makers of this great app when is the real-time monitor scheduled to be released. The current one just shows temperature and says it will be available soon.

BTW, is there a way to check what's the latest build number on the website? I can't find it anywhere, nor the version history.

Congrats on such a great product! ^_^

govertz Is this software able to recover a harddrive that won't boot, is there some way to recover files from a harddrive dead this way, with your software?

Ron K Thank you for offering HDD Regenerator at such a good discount. Do you think it could help my situation?

I have a linux-based NAS that had 4 x 1-TB SATA drives in a RAID5 configuration. Something happened that caused the unit to reset the RAID5, because when I look through the partitions now, everything appears to have been deleted, with the disk reporting 900+GB free space per drive. I'm running the recovery software on a Windows laptop with the drives connected via a usb dock. The "recovered files" area in the recovery software is showing a lot of files it can find on whatever disk, but it doesn't appear to be able to deduce their original filenames (for the files

I understand that I could use a recovery app to pull all the parts that were recognizable. But HDD Regenerator, if it does what I think it does, could in theory just go through the drive "undeleting" any items that were still complete. And then I could copy them off that regenerated drive/partition normally? And if that is possible, is there a way it would be able to know the original file names as well?

Jim Thompson I have the same question as holger Jensen: "Is this software able to recover a harddrive that won't boot, is there some way to recover files from a harddrive dead this way, with your software?"

can you pleae address our concerns??

We're sorry that nobody from HDD is available to answer the questions here. We strongly suggest that they do, and they do get emails with these questions, but sometimes we just can't make it happen.

Keith Norton I tried several times to recover a sector from a dead laptop IDE hard-drive and HDD Regenerator hung after 4 seconds every time. It looked like it was "thinking" but nothing would happen after 4 seconds. I could not close the software even with Task Manager and had to reboot each time I tried it. This could be the fault of the bad drive - I pretty much expected the software to fail, but I think the software should be able to avoid "hanging" and at least be able to be gracefully exited from. Given this performance, the "promise" of hard drive monitoring "real soon" and the lack of vendor response on this forum, I think I'll pass.

Tazzie I have to agree with Keith. I have been debating on whether this would be worth picking up. I already have Hard Disk Sentinel, which does a great job at monitoring my internal and external drives, including all the monitoring that HDD Regenerator claims it will be offering "soon." Considering the nonresponsiveness of the developer to questions we would all like answered, I think I will trust HDS to continue its monitoring and alert me to early warning signs to repair/replace any hard drives in danger of failing,

Nico, thanks for taking the time to give your support ... we know you all do what you can to keep the ball rolling here :)
