What I can briefly say is that HC3 has an ability to grab video in overlay mode (it is very actuall on Win XP), can write WMV files using Microsoft Screen Encoder, has a buil-t it video editor to support trimming/joingin of captured outputs, can be folded to tray toolbar, has invisible mode, adjustable hot keys, command line mode and portable version.

I appreciate the link to the Facebook page ... and I won't knowlingly visit Facebook for any reason. They are one of the great destroyers of personal privacy, along iwth Google and a few others. I would only buy directly through you or your directly linkable online representative.

I realize that most others routinely visit all these sites. But most of them have likely never experienced identity theft or the like. I hope, for everyone's sake,that no one does, as it is not fun at all. At least I learned my lesson: If I wish for something to remain private, then I must keep it with me ... period.

Dmitry Vergeles - overlay mode

When you watch some movie and making print screen, most cases you get black image, instead of what you captured (very common problem for XP). HyperCam 3 can grab such a video

HyperCam 3 is a simple program that does what it advertises--records video of your screen. HyperCam 3's special feature is a lightweight video editor. Also, I found that HyperCam is stable software that works well on Win 7 32-bit.

I wasn't impressed with the video editor and couldn't imagine ever using it...not when one can find much better free video editors.

Overall, HyperCam 3 is overpriced, especially when Ashampoo's Snap 4 does what HyperCam does plus much more for only $4.99! So, I uninstalled my free copy of HyperCam 3 (full version) and installed Snap 4.

Chad Biggerstaff Doesn't seem like too many users on here giving feedback, so thought I'd chime in with my experience.
I was an occasional Hypercam (pre v3) user and tried out (and bought full upgrade price) v3. I've tried numerous programs and it proved the best for capturing video from desktop apps and having that video at a good quality and highly compressed (finally video that doesn't eat hundred+ meg) in wmv which xp and win7/vista support out of the box on a fresh install. Some of the other programs I tried either had lousy video quality or large video sizes or to get a good compressed video had to use codecs that don't come on core xp/win7 installs so users couldn't just run emailed video without first downloading extra codecs. I've been very happy with the product and the trial version was very good as well just had watermark on video saying trial so I was able to fully test before purchasing.

I just installed the demo version and when I click on the 'record' button, I get two error messages. One reads 'Hypercam 3 - Can't Start Recording Graph' and the second reads 'Error! - CDSPlayer;;OnStart() (Unspecified error hr = 0x80004005).

Hi Glen,

Actually HyperCam goes with Media Editor. it supports AVI and WMV/ASF file, the same what can be produced by HyperCam. you can trim , join and delete video/audio tracks there.

MP4 files are supported in the Splitter at the moment, not in HyperCam. It may be that we inlude MP4 in HyperCam pack, but currently no clear plans.

Catherine McClarey I've got the free trial version of HyperCam 3 installed on my computer, but haven't really used it yet. (I've been using CamStudio 2.0 and Bandicam (paid version) for my narrated PC game capture videos thus far.) The HyperCam 3 interface certainly looks sleeker that what little I've seen of HyperCam 2 (from YouTube videos about the earlier version); however, I think I would find it very helpful to view a tutorial which would walk me through setting up HyperCam 3 and recording a game capture video with it.
Also, can one record both game audio and narration simultaneously with HyperCam 3? If so, how?

HyperCam Media Editor is the built-in video editor of HyperCam 3 which helps to edit the recorded files.

It can be opened from the "Recent records" window of HyperCam by selecting the record and choosing ''Edit" button or from the Start - HyperCam 3 - HyperCam Media Editor.

HyperCam uses codecs installed on your PC.

So if you install AC3 codec, you can set it as the audio compressor in Options - Audio.

HyperCam is able to record as only video, as only audio as both video and audio.

The output files for video are AVI, WMV/ASF.

MP4, MOV, FLV formats unfortunately are not supported at present time, but we will possibly add such features to the next releases.
Of cause, you can use any converter to change the file format.

Audio records you can receive in WAV, WMA.

This license will be valid lifetime for all 3.x versions of HyperCam.

All upgrades within the major version are free of charge.

For upgrades to the next major version we offer a significant discounts or we make the upgrade for free, if the previous major version was purchased in the "grace period" before the new major version release.

Dmitry Vergeles Hello bvssunnydale, please let me explain, that the single device here means the removable device. You can install a copy of the HyperCam 5 to a removable device and activate it there. After the activation it is possible to connect the device to a different PC or Laptop and the activation remains valid.

Sara User I've some problems with how to "position" HyperCam since, while being on the market for numerous years,

- it's not even mentioned in the relevant toptenreviews.com comparison (where some quite exotic programs are listed / reviewed though: Do they ask money in order for software being reviewed by them? Some years ago, e.g. CamVerce had been their number 1, and look what they say now on that program, so the non-listing / testing of HyperCam seems more than just weird)

- I cannot find any real review of it in the web (some real review being from 2003...)

- on cnet.com, there are several pages for it, and google promises multiple user reviews on them, while in fact, there isn't but 1 each

- again on cnet.com, they say the developer is Hyperionics Technology, and even today, on hyperionics.com, they sell an ancient version of HyperCam

So you possibly bought HyperCam from them and then developed it further?

I just bought the Hypercam and upsell Video splitter 6 Home.
Videosplitter seems to be very clear/easy to split videos with the Begin and end markings, not confusing like many other stupid splitters.


Only problem is the COMPLICATED buying process where I have to answer your email from the address you sent my email to.
For others this buying process might be less complicated if you do not have email forwarding like I do.

I have several email addresses in hotmail that all forward to one email address. So does this mean I have to go through a huge validation process to get my order ??? If I have to I rather just take the refund ASAP.

I know security is important for you when buying things even thought I think paypal is enough for me. I really do not like those type of buying experiences. Hopefully the software will be worth it in the end. I also checked my bitsdujour email and it is not any of the ones that you will see in the email but both email addresses are paypal email addresses. All of this just got VERY complicated and I do not like it.

I really think you should state about your buying process in the future cause I am quite allergic to those and might have avoided buying at all since it takes a lot of time having to write the email explaining and then here to. I had no idea of your demands in the email I got from you which means that I cannot follow your instruction cause I have already paid and cannot go back and change email can I ??

So if I am lucky I get my purchase within 24 hours as you wrote !?

HyperCam can record mouse clicks, you can see available settings in "Options"-"Extras".
HyperCam can capture keystrokes and show them in "Screen Notes" by means of the "Key Pressed" macro.
