Mark Effinger Hi folks!
We're working diligently on a video presentation to give you more detail. But suffice to say:
• Drew Carey writes all of his comedy with our software. He and his writing team have a half-dozen copies to keep things fresh.

• A Purpose Driven Life, the biggest bestseller in the world (over 1,000,000 copies sold per month across all languages) was written with this software. Rick Warren also has many many copies for his team to use to craft everything from sermons to God knows what.

• 470 of the Fortune 500 have copies in hand. Sometimes whole divisions.

And you. Here's the funny thing: This is like a Secret Weapon when it comes to creatives. We see the names of the people who buy as they come in. But they are often shy about speaking up. You know: exposing that the head designer at Mattel has an electronic crutch... or the most popular Time Management guru boots his PC to get the creative juices going.

Ahhh... someday. Someday they'll talk. For now, let me get that video together and show you a few things you might find interesting. See you back here in a bit.

Mark Durieux I just purchased the software only to find out that it doesn't run on Windows 7, 64 bit! Seriously??? Why isn't this vital limitation PROMINENTLY indicated anywhere? HELP!!

Michael Begley I also use Windows 7 64 bit so I am anxious to hear about support for this OS. It is unfortunate that there is no download trial so that Mark had to find out the Win 7 64 bit problem AFTER he purchased it.

Mark Effinger Mark, could you verify that it's not running on in 64 bit mode? The app doesn't require any external drivers, nor does it access the IE browser - the two areas where 32 bit apps typically fail when running in 64 bit mode.

Any insights are greatly appreciated (and will win you an additional Expert Topic Module of your choice!).

My Windows guys will be in in the AM as well.
Thanks much.

Mark Effinger Hi Brian - No demo in this particular app. We acquired the technology and have been building the new version since 2003 (ThoughtOffice).

But there are some cool features to IdeaFisher that are locked into the IdeaFisher DNA. So we were able to create a runtime wrapper around it and get it to run seamlessly on Windows 7. We have more than 200,000 clients who loved the app, but couldn't use it once Windows XO SPII was released. So this is their cure.

We've been slammed with pre-orders, or we'd have a walkthrough video for you. Visit our website and you can read the reviews from users, see some screens and get an idea of how it works. And we're happy to answer any questions as well.

Thanks much,'

Jason Howard Mark, how does IdeaFisher compare to ThoughtOffice?
(I am just trying to work out exactly where IdeaFisher is positioned at)
As a user of ThoughtOffice, IdeaFisher looks to be fairly basic.

Mark Effinger Hi Jason,

Great question. I started on IdeaFisher when it became Mac-enabled in 1992. It's a crazy-fun language-based engine. Not as refined as ThoughtOffice - nor as organized. But unique in how it's organized.

ThoughtOffice was developed after Marsh Fisher and I spent a few years brainstorming on how IdeaFisher would look with a web connection. And remote editors all adding to the database weekly.

IdeaFisher is fun. If you'v used ThoughtOffice in "iterative" mode with the IdeaBrowser running through Synonyms or Definitions, clicking recursively from link to link - that's the closest to IdeaFisher I have experienced. But IdeaFisher is a bit of a drunken sailor - with a Masters in English and Pop Culture. Does that help?

Brian Turner Thanks Mark
but sadly quality of marketing has improved without corresponding enhancements to software, so it's a no-brainer for me not being able to test before purchase.

But maybe you have a 100% guaranteed money back if not satisfied?

Mark Durieux Good morning. Sorry for the delay. Tried to install at 2 am, left my post here, and then hit the hay. Here is the exact error message I'm receiving, just now replicated. Hope we can resolve this issue.
C:\Program FIles (x86)\IdeaFisher Retro\IDEAFISH.EXE
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." OK

Mark Effinger Hi Mark,
Thanks for the post. I am getting this to Eric and Dave this AM and will have a reply to you shortly.

I will also post the success formula I found last night as well.

Much appreciate your help. And let me know what Module you'd like, and I'll get that to you for taking the time to get that screen shot and insight: http://www.thoughtrod.com...re-plugin/

Much appreciate it, Mark.
Best,
ME

Mark Durieux I've tried various compatibility settings without success. I even tried to uninstall the program and that didn't work either. Consequently, I've resorted to rolling back my system to the prior restore point. Just fyi. Have you got any suggestions?

Mark Effinger Hi Mark - Eric and Dave are working on it as we speak. When Eric developed the runtime, the number of 64 bit installs was fairly low. Evidently you're on that leading edge that keeps us hopping.

We'll have a fix or solution sometime today. I'll keep you posted (Dave may chime in a bit as well).

Thanks for the insights, BTW. Really appreciate it, Mark.

Michael Begley Mark, I run Win 7 64 bit and am interested in purchasing the equivalent ThoughtOffice product. Exacly what product is this, how much is it, and how do I make the purchase? Thanks. Mike Begley

Mark Effinger So deeper investigations are revealing that We're having success on a good % of Windows 7 Home Edition as well... which does not support XP mode.

So we're running through all of the hoops to track down the nuances. Could be as simple as a permissions setting before initial install.

Thanks for all the great feedback, folks. And you IdeaFisher radicals - we've got a development roadmap that will modernize every element of this puppy, and merge the best of ThoughtOffice, IdeaFisher and MindManager into a simple, fast, portable and really solid app.

Richard Paris Hi Windows 7 64-bit support is essential for me as well. Are you able to extend the offer another day to give you more time to resolve Win7 64 install issues.

Regards,
RP

Mark Effinger Hi Richard - Thanks for connecting.
Yes, unless our friends at BitsduJour have an issue with that, we'll do it.

We have two folks doing installs and testing on every conceivable combo. The issue could be as simple as the Anitvirus software (looking like a probably cause) during install. Along with the permissions setting.

So "yes", consider the special extended. I will have Dave reset the coupon code for another 24 hours.

Thanks for the inquiry, Richard.

Chase Kanooth With OpenSuse 11.4 or 12 you can run a w7-32 guest inside of Xen 4.1. All you need is to install Opensuse and get a copy of w7-32 for your virtual guest machine and your off and running. To setup - Google and the Opensuse forums are a great resource.

Mark Effinger Hi, Chase. Dave Lockman here for Mark.

Great comment! I'm a Linux geek myself, and am still learning every day. I'll be doing some research into Xen 4.1, and see what it can do with Win 7, as well as earlier versions.

(As Artie Johnson used to say, peering through the shrubbery on the old "Laugh In" show, "Verrry interesting...")

Have a great week!

Charles Lindner I LOVED my IdeaFisher software. I am a Mac User and always have been. Is there any IdeaFisher Mac software out there for OS X Macs, or on the horizon. I miss it, and it helped me in many many respects.
