With digital photography, it’s easy to rack up hundreds of images quickly. Sometimes you don’t even get around to reviewing all of them until much later. So what happens when you find them all lacking in some way? Do you spend days editing individual images, or do you take the easy way out with today’s discount software promotion, Image Former?

Image Former lets you edit and convert multiple images in batch, featuring an easy and intuitive interface. With Image Former, all you need to do is select however many photos you want, define your actions, and start the conversion. Just sit back and let Image Former rotate, crop, color-correct, enlarge, reduce, or convert your images.

You’ll be amazed at what you can do with Image Former. Convert between JPEG, PNG, BMP, and GIF formats, and even PDF and PSD. You can even set the program to monitor and automatically convert any images it finds in Windows Clipboard!

Mr Dave I'll give this a try, I really like the idea of dragging thumbnails into the Drop Zone.

There are a few features that could be added: adding a frame, adding a watermark or logo, change resolution to fit to a maximum file size, and adding a rename capability.

Frame/watermark/logo: This should be done in layers, that can set the opacity and how pixels are combined (many programs offer XOR, burn, lighten, etc.). Rather than add a full graphics editor, user could drop files with what they want in each layer, Image Former would need to adjust the layers to fit each pic's size.

Resizing to keep with a max file size is important for uploading to sites that place limits on file size, and I haven't yet found a program that does this for you without a lot of trial and error.

Rename should let you include original filename (all before file type) or parts of it (first or last n characters), year, month, date, hour, minute, second, count (starting value, number of digits), and any new text to insert into the pattern. For count to work best, need a way to sort pics in the Drop Zone by date/time, size, name, all descending or ascending.

I know all this detracts from the basic simplicity of the program, but it would make it stand out from others like the free (for home use) XnView that does everything Image Former does except monitor the clipboard. And that's a feature I can't see a use for, I copy/paste many images or parts of them every day and rarely want to save them to a separate file, rarely need to process them other than giving a unique filename - not a batch operation.
