"upload"? Are you not offering a desktop application, but some access to the company's server?

S B I think the screenshots showing "without" and "with Photo Maximizer" are more for the idea of what the product does than actual examples.

Can provide us with a screenshot showing the user interface and the controls & settings, perhaps of the "18 different functions"?

Can you tell us what kinds of technologies are used?

It's impossible to create information where none exists--certainly lines and shapes can be created in sub-pixel oversampling (though often making the new image look "cartoonish"), but the kinds of details pictured seem way beyond the pale.

I'd really love for this kind of technology to exist, but the best, and most expensive big-name products today aren't even getting close.

I won't put software on my machine without more information, seeing some actual examples, and knowing more.

Frank Stephens Is a trial download available? No way will I purchase something this pricey without a trial.

S B, try a trial of BenVista PhotoZoom Pro 5 (you definitely want the "Pro" version). No, it doesn't use "sub-pixel oversampling". Numerous options, algorithms, and parameters are available.

Don Goddard Will Photo Maximizer Pro increase the effective resolution of a photo (increase the number of pixel dots per inch)? I am trying to determine if it will help improve the quality of photos used in desktop publishing projects.

ds3303 So, is this program incompatible with Vista/7 64-bit systems? I'd buy it if I knew that it was, but I'm not going to sink $100 on 'maybe'. Avanquest's customer service line says they'll get back to you in 48 hours - not a lot of help on a 24 hour sale.

Avanquest Software Hi all, I found a trial you can try before you buy: http://filecdn.avanquest...._Trial.exe. Given the technical nature of the product, I think this is the best way to answer most of your questions.

@Don - yes it's compatible with Vista 32-bit and Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit.

Obiwan Canobie I just downloaded the trial but can't import my own photos to test. Apparently, the trial only allows one to use its own sample photos which were probably taken at a high megapixel to begin with.
I'd rather see a true example with one of my own photos, so I don't know...

ds3303 I should have been clearer. My PC has 64-bit Vista, not Win7. Will the program run?

Avanquest Software @Don - no, sorry but it's not 64-bit Vista compatible.

Obiwan Canobie Okay, thanks for the info concerning the Vista incompatibility.

Cateyes713 "Upload your photo" does this mean to a web server or just wrong wording instead "open/load" your photo & you work within the program on your computer versus on line?

Interesting note on their website - 5 Star User Rating yet there are no reviews on the site!?!??!?!

More info is definately required before this "not always used" program even if half off @ $99

S B Frank Stephens,
Yes! Though I don't own it, I'm familiar with PhotoZoom Pro. It's a premier product and for photography is about as good as it gets. There are a couple of others in the top league (Perfect Resize, Blow Up), and all are very sophisticated and highly refined and refined. There are some tools for simpler kinds of images, but I think they work poorly on photos.

I personally suspect that Photo Maximizer is a derivative of the open source SmillaEnlarger, sourceforge.net/projects/imageenlarger.

Thanks!

Don Goddard Here is a review of the efficacy of the enlargement technique used by Photozoom Pro that might give some perspective on how this type of software works:
