Gabriel Zastawnik One important question guys: if I secure my pendrive with this software (lets say on my home PC) , do I have to install Kruptos2Go on the computer I will use later (ie. my computer in work). Or will I have to only enter the password after sticking the pendrive into USB port.
May 1 2013 at 1:56am Copy Link
Thiru Hello,

Thanks for the question.

Kruptos 2 Go is installed to you USB drive, therefore you will not need to install the software on any attached computer, just open the software and enter your password then your good to go.

Kruptos 2 Software - May 1 2013 at 2:14am Copy Link
Gabriel Zastawnik Thanks for the answer Steve. I bought your software. If I may also suggest something - if you sell software which is used for security and protection, maybe you will consider to give more specific information about your company on the website. Quote: "Kruptos 2.0 Software is a small independent software development studio located in the North East of England" is not enough to trust someone selling security software. If it was not bitsduhour that is behind this transaction and I trust them a lot, I would never buy this soft.

Thiru Hi,

That’s a fair and valid point. Is there any specific information you would like to see?

Kruptos 2 Software - May 1 2013 at 3:25am Copy Link
Gabriel Zastawnik Well... I do not know anything about british law. In Poland we usually give: the name of the company, full address, VAT number and company identity number which is independent for each company. The buyer can check then online if this company really exists.

Ben Long May I use one purchase of Kruptos 2 Go - USB Vault on several USBs that I have, or do I need purchase a separate license for each USB? Many thanks
May 1 2013 at 4:39am Copy Link
Thiru Yes you can.

Kruptos 2 2 Go is licenced per user and not per USB drive, this means you may install Kruptos 2 Go on any number of USB drives as long as you’re the only person using the software, if however other users use the software then they must purchase their own licence.

Kruptos 2 Software - May 1 2013 at 5:12am Copy Link
Dillon Geo I bought Kruptos 2 here last time. Overall the idea of this software is good, and it is convenient to use, but it needs a lot of improvements.
There is a problem while using it:
if there are two files with the same filename but different extensions, Kruptos is not doing a good job. For example, I have
ospf.txt and
, and after encrypted by Kruptos 2, I got
. As you can see, one filename is quite ad-hoc.
May 1 2013 at 8:51am Copy Link
Ricky Rick 32 bit or 64 bit -- however -- I have 32 bit system and wondering if I want to open it on my friend's 64 bit system will it still work ok?
May 1 2013 at 9:21am Copy Link
Thiru Dillon,

The file extension name convention isn’t an issue for Kruptos 2 Go as your file would be named: ospf.txt.k2p and ospf.pdf.k2p. This naming convention will be part of the next version of Kruptos 2 Professional.

We’d be happy to hear your suggestions for any improvements you may have for either Kruptos 2 Professional or Kruptos 2 Go. Please feel free to contact me.

Kruptos 2 Software - May 1 2013 at 9:32am Copy Link
Thiru Ricky,

Yes you will be able to open files encrypted on a 64bit system.

Kruptos 2 Software - May 1 2013 at 9:33am Copy Link
Ricky Rick Thanks Steve -- I am going to buy right now. Excellent!!
May 1 2013 at 9:36am Copy Link
Thiru Ricky,
When you first start the program you need to enter a master password, from then on you should only need to enter a password when you start the program, an exception being if you have Kruptos 2 profession installed and you double kick an encrypted file within your ‘vault’

I’ve looked into the trial issue and it would appear there is a bug regarding the title bar text after registration. The issue does not affect the status of the program i.e. your registration status. We have already fixed the issue but our testing cycle takes a couple of days. If acceptable I can contact you when the fix is available?

Kruptos 2 Software - May 1 2013 at 10:46am Copy Link
Ricky Rick Steve I also sent an email to your support email addy for which you already replied.

I emailed you back a .jpg screen capture of what I am seeing when it asks me to enter a password.

From your message here at Bits it would seem that even though it says trial version it is in fact actually a registered version. Please email/contact me the "fix" info at my regular email address that I emailed to your support.

Thanks a lot Steve for your quick replies. You have excellent customer service!! Ricky

VLM Will this software work on a high-capacity USB-3 SSD device, just like any other device?
May 1 2013 at 1:09pm Copy Link
Thiru VLM,

USB 3 SSD devices should be OK, my best advice would be to try the trial to make sure it meets your requirments.

Kruptos 2 Professional is PC based file encryption, see for more info.

Rick Edwards The online help doesn't seem to cover a lot of questions I have.
a) The license is to a user and may be installed in all his computers. But is it installed at all? Isn't it on the USB drive? If so, can I put it on 2 to 10 drives?
b) If I want to look at a file on a public machine (library - airport) can I run the software from the USB stick? These machines don't provide administrative privileges to guest accounts.
c) Sometimes everyone in my meetings has a mac. Is there a mac utility commonly available that would allow this program to run to extract a file?
Oct 30 2013 at 9:19am Copy Link
Thiru Rick,

b) Kruptos 2 Go is ran from the USB stick, you shouldn't need administrator privileges to the software since its just like any other exe i.e. no mounting of drives are needed.

c) Currently no, we however in the process of creating the Mac version of Kruptos 2 Professional then shortly after Kruptos 2 Go

Wiggle Hi, is it possible for users to decrypt it? If i decrypt my files and i move that file to other PC, will i need a password to open that files on that PC too? What if something goes wrong with the settings or if i forgot the password, is there any way to open the files on that USB?
Nov 2 2013 at 1:27am Copy Link
bvssunnydale Can this program be run in "stealth" or partial stealth mode, not appearing in task manager, not showing toolbar icons, splash screens, etc? This is a very important function to me (I use FolderLock currently and it's a nightmare in that respect, so am looking for a replacement).
Nov 2 2013 at 8:40am Copy Link
Thiru Kruptos 2 Go does not have a 'stealth' mode. It's something we did look into but the demand wasn't enough to warrant the feature. However if the demand is there we'll add the feature to an upcoming release.

John Hood Mr. Programmer, why didn't you imbed the K2Launcher.exe file inside the Kruptos2Go.exe file????!!!!! Or, better yet, why does your program not go right to the Password box when someone clicks on the USB drive letter??

I purchased this today. I find an issue or I uninstalled it incorrectly. When installed it puts two files on the USB drive assuming it is virgin and is otherwise empty of my files. If someone found my USB, put it in their PC and clicked on the USB drive letter, they will see 2 files in the USB Directory -- K2Launcher.exe and the icon for Kruptos2Go.exe.

While they cannot get in by clicking on Kruptos2Go.exe nor K2Laucher.exe without my password they can screw me up by deleting the K2Launcher.exe file. If I happened to get the USB file back by a samaritan who returned it to me when he found he could not crack in, I can click on the remaining Kruptos2Go.exe file, enter my password and get in to see my files.

One large problem...because the person who found my USB deleted the K2Launcer.exe file I get an error when I try to open a encrypted vault document such as a PDF because the program can no longer see K2Launcher.exe in the USB Directory. Error tells me to reinstall the K2...program.

If I happen to be in Timbucktoo without the installation file, I am screwed and cannot open my encrypted files after I entered my password. I can see all of the files and folder names but none, like a pdf file, will open because K2Launcher.exe was deleted off the USB Directory by the guy who found my USB lying on the street or wherever.

Again, Mr. Programmer, why did you not imbed the K2Launcher.exe file inside the Kruptos2Go.exe file???? Or, better yet, why does your program not go right to the Password box when someone clicks on the USB drive letter??
Nov 2 2013 at 10:49am Copy Link
Thiru Clicking on the file letter or USB drive [and starting Kruptos 2 Go] is no longer possible since Microsoft removed the auto-start functionality which is why you need to manually start Kruptos 2 Go.

As for embedding the launcher with the main executable… you’d still have the same issue if someone deleted the main program. To be honest I don’t see what the issue is, the whole purpose of the software is to protect your data if you lose your USB device

Also, even if your Launcher is deleted you can still decrypt your files by dragging them out of your USB Vault, all the launcher does it ‘launch’ the correct program when editing an encrypted file.
Kruptos 2 Software - Nov 2 2013 at 11:16am Copy Link
Matt Hi Steve,

I just purchased Kruptos 2 Go. I've also purchased (through BDJ) and am a very happy user of Kruptos 2 Pro.

I would be interested in a 'stealth' mode as well.

Thank you.
Nov 2 2013 at 12:11pm Copy Link
John Hood The issue is that unlocked files should not be left open to be deleted by the finder. You put me through a drill by having to reinstall portable software I should not be put through that drill. I don't believe that Microsoft is the problem all together. There has to be a workaround. And you assume that I will carry an extra USB around in my wallet when I go to the hotel Business office to reinstall from or extract to. While I paid for your software. I am not sold on it with it's heart laid open to be tinkered with. I am disappointed and I give this a 1 out of 5 until you folks can do better.
Nov 2 2013 at 12:22pm Copy Link
John H I have been using Kruptos for several years now and find it a perfect complement to True Crypt.

Does Kruptos 2 Go decrypt file on the fly or is this basicly the same system as my original Kruptos?

I would love to get rid of True Crypt because of its clunky interface and way too many unneeded options.
Nov 2 2013 at 12:28pm Copy Link
Thiru The autostart problem is entirely a Microsoft one as they impose these restrictions to stop the spread of viruses. Autostart used to work on windows xp but was removed during vista

The bottom line is you deleted one of the programs files, of course the program is going to stop working and you'll need to reinstall. It's a bit like deleting a file from(your favourite app here) and expecting it to still work, it won't!

But no matter what YOUR FILES ARE SECURE and never unlocked.

I'm sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction and will happily refund your payment if Kruptos 2 Go does not meet your needs.
Kruptos 2 Software - Nov 2 2013 at 12:45pm Copy Link
Thiru Hi John H,

Kruptos 2 Go uses the same system as Kruptos 2 however the system is more streamlined ie you only need to enter your password once rather than enter it for each operation, so in that respect in like on the fly encryption.
Kruptos 2 Software - Nov 2 2013 at 12:49pm Copy Link
Rick Edwards I noted that if there are hidden files (in this case, an excel backup file) in the folder that Kruptos2Go encrypts them but won't move them. If I say 'no' to moving, things work OK but if I say 'yes' it freezes Krupton2Go. Can I set an option to ignore system files?

Secondly, if I have updated perhaps a dozen files in a file repository, is there any way to have the software just update the individual files without me having to find them and re-encrypting those individually? If I add the same parent folder again, I must copy (or skip) every file in the entire folder with hundreds of mouse-clicks (there's no default setting of overwriting every time).
Nov 2 2013 at 1:42pm Copy Link
Thiru Hi Rick,

I'll look into your first issue ASAP as this does not sound right. Your second issue is one of my gripes too, it's also on the product backlog and will be fixed in the next version. The next version should be available in the next week or so.
