What are people saying about Launcher 2.x

H. H. @vendor
Hallo,
following question:
- is it possible to create own submenus / subfolders (not only seperating lines)?
e.g. Main-Folder "graphic apps" - Subfolder "Graphic Editors" , "Graphic Viewers" containing additional subfolders like "photo" , "illustration",...?
If not until now - will it be available within the nearer future?

Thank you for clarifying in advance

Thomas Schulz Yes, you can create nested subfolders - no problem :)

H. H. Hallo,
thank you for responding. Is it described in a help-menu? Can it already be tested in the trial version or only in the purchased version?
Thank you for answering again in advance
H.H.

Thomas Schulz The trial is fully functional so yes.

And adding menu subfolders is easy: When adding items simply choose "menu folder".

Robert Crombie Do you have a link to your web page showing COMPARISON between Pro and Free ?

Thomas Schulz From the main product page:
https://www.microsystools.../launcher/

"
Launcher allows you to easily create shortcuts and configure launch options:
Free: Supply command line parameters in application shortcuts.
Free: Configure as a portable launcher running on USB sticks and drives.
Free: Batch files and other executables support same options as applications.
Pro: File or program window state, e.g. maxmized.
Pro: Application files starting directory.
Pro: Launch programs with Windows run as administrator elevation dialog.
Pro: Launch all shortcuts in a menu folder with a single click. (Either all-at-once or wait-for-each.)
Pro: Launch all shortcuts in menu folder upon Launcher software startup.

Mitchell User I installed 2.3.3, which is full-featured for about 29 more days. I created a menu folder and copied two program shortcuts to the folder. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to use the pro feature of one-click launch of multiple programs. Read through the online help twice. Nothing. Went to the forum. Nothing I could find. I really want to pay the niine bucks for the pro version, but I don't know how to use the only pro feature in which I am interested.

Thomas Schulz 1) go to "Manage items"

2) In "Add item" choose "Menu folder" and add it

3) in this folder add some executables

4) In the "Edit item (Pro edition only) see the "Folder" option... Here you can choose between different modes, e.g. "RunWaitAll"

5) So when you want to execute them all in the future, simply right click Launcher icon in system tray and click the folder you added in #2

Duane User I've never seen a program so shy to show you what the user sees.

It has a lot of information about how to set it up, but not how it looks on your computer.

I'm referring to information on Bits and on their website.

Thomas Schulz Please elaborate if possible, so I can expland the online help?

Currently the help
https://www.microsystools...cher/help/
have a "Getting started" at the very top where the two first entries are:

1) Use Launcher from Windows System Tray https://www.microsystools...stem-tray/

2) Add File and Directory Shortcuts in Launcher https://www.microsystools...shortcuts/

And both show how it looks on the computer. The BDJ and website screenshots do as well.

(Are you experiencing an issue where things look very different?)

Duane User It still shows only setup not usage.

Thomas Schulz Thank you. I think I understand your definition now. In that case:

The screenshots that show the menu that pops up when clicking the "Launcher" icon in the system tray all demonstrates usage to some or full degree.

You simply *click* the menu items that corresponds to the items added/edited/arranged in the "Manage items" window.

Based on your feedback, I will consider expanding this help page:

Robert Crombie Could you elaborate on this Pro feature -
Pro: Application files starting directory.
Thanks,
Rob

Thomas Schulz @Robert
- In Launcher shortcut configuration it is called: Work dir"
- When configuring Windows shortcuts (in Windows) it is called "Start in"

From Windows API it corresponds to "lpDirectory":
https://docs.microsoft.co...ecuteinfoa

-- "Optional. The address of a null-terminated string that specifies the name of the working directory. If this member is NULL, the current directory is used as the working directory." --

Some apps use this to know wherefrom it should read files.

I will see if I can improve the webpage description
