JesusInsideMe BE CAREFUL: I purchased this software and I receive a big error trying to sync my Outlook 2010 32b (I use W7 64B) info with this app, then, I requested a money refund and they told me: ''Unfortunately we don't refund money, we just can't do it because it contradicts the license agreement. The agreement you apply when you're installing the product says that you are agree to get the program "AS IS".
So, I learned to read ALL license agreements carefully, but, the bad news for me is that sometimes... there is no time for it!
God bless you, bye.

Oliver Solano PLEASE NOTE:

The description above says:

"There's even an integrated mail client, so you never have to leave the program to view or answer messages."

However, when you look at the actual product comparison (on: http://www.leadertask.com...iew/14/29/ ) you can clearly see that the "Standard" version DOES NOT include the e-mail client.

If you want the e-mail client you need to purchase the "Expert" version.

The sync with calendar, tasks and contacts make it worth trying the product anyway, even if the e-mai client was not part of it, but the fact that the description for the standard version expressly states that the e-mail client is integrated (when it's not) is a bit deceptive if you ask me.

Little Bear If there is one gripe I have about today's Giveaway its that the registration process is completely unnecessary and long. I think I spent a good 20 minutes just to get the software registered. Not a good impression for readers towards the developer, especially when most developers are anxious to get the software out to everyone to use.

Little Bear Hey everyone, I can imagine the frustration you have encountered with this software, if you done everything right to the final step, you should be logged into your account where you can download a file called

ACTIVATE_LEADERTASK.ltkey

If you download this file and run the program the program should be registered after that, still this software has really given me a headache to wonder if it was worth the 20 minutes to figure it out.

Nelson Therrien 1- If you want to synchronise (with other devices), you need an account at 8.99 for 3 months up to 21$ for 12 months....

So, I decided to try the synchronisation with Outlook instead: you require the Expert version at 70$... and there's no upgrade price...

So, you end up being left with just the software on the local computer... and by the way, the interface on mobile devices (like iPad) is WAY different than on PC... so different I'm not sure it's really usefull... and I won't pay 9$ just to know...

Good idea, but completely useless in this free version...

HKP Why are you guys from LeaderTask and BitsDuJour so uncommunicative that visitors of your site get no proper answer when they ask how to activate the software? Your poor reprimands to a link show little respect to possible customers in the future. The explanation could be so easy: The name, key and email which you have to enter in the register window of the program are hidden in a file “activate_leadertask.ltkey”. This file is not included in the software download but must be separately downloaded from your account. You have to click on the key button there. The downloaded file can be opened with Windows Editor. To set up your account by Leader Task you need to register first with name and email. You then receive an email with the data email and password for the login into your account where you will find the key button to download the file with your activation data. However, this activation procedure is pretty unusual and should better be explained without a rebuke to a link.

Until now, I’m a user of a purchased version of VueMinder Calendar Pro. This software needed from time to time to be manually fixed when it loses its calendar data again. The Leader Task 7.4 looks very good at the first glimpse. I’m pretty sure that I will not experience losses of calendar data with this software. In Leader Task 7.4 I already found my favorite function: Simply, with a right mouse click in a day field I can open a window for a fresh task or a brand-new note. Leader Task makes a good impression at the first sight and will be tried out next time. Thank you very much for the great gift.

_*_ OK, this is absolutely the worst activation system I have ever experienced.

I pasted link, walked through the filling in name, email, receiving mail, clicking on link, typing in email, code, getting activation and then to go back to the program and it still does not display as activated.

No matter what I try it will not activate.

Why would anyone create such a convoluted system to simply activate a program? Is it really pirated that often that you have to have so many steps that lead the user everywhere except where they need to go?

From what I can see, I will not be able to active and thus the software will become useless in short order.

For me, this highlights all that is wrong with DRM.

Bruce Frcek I agree with many comments above - The worse activation process I have ever seen. Unnecessarily complicated. I finally gave up. If the process to activate is this difficult, I can only imagine how frustrating the product would be to use. Good luck.

Michael Begley I also agree with other negative comments on the registration process. I am stuck waiting for the email with the key. It does not look like it is going to arrive. It is late and I am giving up. I put in aout 45 min on this and I am done. I would like to see some quality testing by Bits before a severely defecdtive process is dropped on customers. Bits needs to screen out products like Leader Task if they want to maintain any kind of positive reputation.

Stephen Ferg EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
=====================
Junk. Don't waste your time

DISCUSSION
=========================

I got the offer.

I received an email message containing instructions on:
(1) how to download the software, and
(2) how to activate the coupon (whatever that means).

I did the download. Download was easy; installation was easy.

I tried to run the software. It refused to work without a license ID.

Went back the email. Read it again. It did not supply a license id but a coupon code. Apparently, in order to get a license ID, you first need to activate the coupon.

I followed the link in the email message and instructions to activate the coupon.

When I followed the link to activate the coupon, I was told that I had to register with Leader Task before I could activate the coupon.

To register, you must give your name and email address, and (in theory) they email you an activation code.

I tried to register 3 times with two different emails. I never received any email with an activation code.

Looking for a remedy, I went to a page for "Already bought" and requested a replacement key. I got "HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found."

I said to myself - "This is really screwed up. With so many things about this process being user-UNfriendly or defective, do you trust ANY software that these people developed?"

Answer - "NO".

Uninstalled LeaderTask. End of story.

Roger Thomasson Please note folks, if you expand Stephen Ferg's conversation thread (directly above this post) it appears as though he's found a functional solution.

_*_ Roger; Stephen Ferg's functional solution seems to be what others have done, "Uninstalled LeaderTask. End of story"! :o)

I honestly do not have a good feeling with this developer who nows has my name and email.

I do beieve Bits needs to ensure users that all is well with a developer and software before it goes live on the site here.

I indeed have uninstalled Leadertask, but Leadertask developer(s) still hold my name and email...not good.

Mary Wilson The apology does nothing to fix the problem of how badly this deal has gone. It is a little to late to fix a problem with a deal that ended at midnight. I got rid of the e-mail and the program when I could not get it to work as I have more to do than wait for a company that takes more than twelve hours to fix a problem dealing with registration. This will make me think twice the next time a deal like this comes up that I want. I have had problems before and BitsDuJour has always been there in the background ready to step in to help solve problems. I wonder where they are this time?

Roger Thomasson @ Mary

It's not always possible to fix this things mid-stream. Altering a checkout/registration process is far, far more time-consuming than you'd imagine.

Many, many customers successfully completed the registration. Again, apologies to those that could not. We'll do our best to ensure that this doesn't happen again.

_*_ Nico, clearly something was not right with this vendor. I do not have a good feeling knowing this group has my name and email address. I do wonder what will happen with them.

They may be trusted by you and Bits, but they have given users (i.e. me persoanlly) absolutely no reason to trust them whatsoever.

Toni McConnel I came back tonight to see if I could find a solution to inserting license but clearly this is a frustrating, time-consuming endeavor that for many posters here never gets resolved. I like the program but bizarre claim from Roger Thomasson that Berg found solution in post where Berg clearly states he gave up and uninstalled is way too much crazy for me.

Nico, your vendors need to be more than 'trusted'. The level of dysfunction of these people is over the top, including malfunctioning website and grossly malfunctioning installation process. What do you mean by 'trusted', anyway? These people have jumped into commerce without a clue what they are doing.

I am uninstalling LeaderTask.

Oliver Solano I agree with Toni. Objectively speaking, it would be in the interest of BDJ users to know what does BDJ mean by "Trusted" vendors (i.e. what is BDJ's definition of "Trusted") and what type of processes are followed or background checks are done so that a vendor can indeed become "Trusted".

Dave V Noticed this as a "Deal Coming Soon" so I thought I would check it out.

First, let me say that I am always hesitant about software here that has a 100% discount as that seems to be an easy way for foreign programmers to get trusted access to my PC.

That said, this looked promising so I thought I would look into it. What I found (or didn't find) was that the software is no longer sold. If you go to the leadertask website now, it is based on cloud based software with monthly access license and 45 days free. So right up front it makes me suspicious.

Further there is NO PRIVACY POLICY, NO SUPPORT AREA, NO TERMS OF SERVICE, and NO CONTACT or other information about who is behind this software. All that is provided is an email address. They say that they are used by over 1500 corporations but I can't find anything about them through a search other than the general mass download links sites and reviews.

The leadertask site allows you to sync between multiple devices which tells me your information is being stored on their servers and you are giving this program unlimited network access in and out of your PC.

There is alot of great software here; but sometimes I really wonder how much of it potentially contains backdoors or trojans. This stuff will not always be caught be Malwarebytes etc because it may be written into the program itself. Anyway, just my 2 cents. I

Gary Smith @Dave V: You may have mis-read their website about the 1500 corporations, or they simply do not know how to get a comma into a number. There is a space between the 1 and the 500 part (they also do that for the number of regular customers: 50 000+). The 500 part has a plus following it, so maybe that refers to a "Fortune 500" type corporation. If so, then that means only 1 corporation, and only 50 of the 000+ (us poor folks). I read it that they have 51 customers total, but you are absolutely right about not showing this product on their website. It probably is made to coerce users to their online service like the downloads at the top of the screen.

Rich Cochran Having read all previous post I don't believe I will venture on this one.
98% of the software on this sight is more than good, but I have had a few bad ones. Always read the previous posts, and search for details on software you have no knowledge of before down loading or purchasing.

Techfixes I dunno, the Testimonials sound pretty good :) And the Program itself appears quite functional, at least from what I can see in the Screenshots. I expect that one would try it out and upgrade to the Cloud-based version if liked.

Petr Committing to use a personal organizer takes a lot of time. My time if more valuable than the few dollars the software costs. Therefore, it is important for me to get a good overview and some details about how such software will work.

I searched "LeaderTask" on Youtube and found many videos and demos. Most of them had Russian voice-overs, but some were in English. Here's a 12 minute demo of LeaderTask in English: http://youtu.be/5eUYXikPe7Q

The software looks better than many but I am still lacking information. I need to know how the sync between devices works? I'd like to know more about the developers and how solid they are? Will there be updates and what do the plug-in do? I would like to see Google Calendar integration. Is there a plug-in for that?

Bruce Fraser The text for this giveaway says "... with the ability to sync across all of your devices."
I don't see that anywhere on the program's menu. I think this offer is for an old version, and they just forgot to edit the text.

The website says the price for the program, with the sync, is $7 per month -- that's hardly my idea of "free."

Like others said, it sure would be nice if a representative from the developer responded to all our questions.

Gary Smith Out of interest in these types of programs, and having used a long list of similar and more expensive, plus more task oriented programs, I downloaded this program to give it a try. I am absolutely astounded at the sophistication this program has implemented for tasks, notes, and tracking of jobs (tasks) getting completed. A right click always has handy options for whatever you right click on. Also, dragging entries on the calendar between different hours, and even different days makes it easy to "re-schedule" something, rather than an "edit task" to choose different start and end dates or times. This is not an old program, but appears to be a special edition for Bits du Jour (file size of their regular program is nearly identical). To get to a version 9 says a lot for having only 51 customers, but then again, maybe the commas did not get translated correctly. ;)

The YouTube videos can be a great help in showing that this program can do a lot. There is definitely a learning curve, so if that makes your world too complicated, then pass. But if you get irritated with similar programs that you stopped using out of the frustration of its limits, then you should definitely give this program a try. If you are afraid because a program is offered at 100% off, that's fine too; it isn't for everybody. I don't think Bits de Jour needs to defend or criticize the developer; its merits will speak for itself after enough have tried it. If the first three comments do not shine gloriously upon the product, and that scares you away, that should be fine as well. For most, I believe anyone giving this 100% off offer a chance will be very impressed.

The program appears to be designed so that a "Chief" (possibly Admin) user can organize tasks for others, and also Managers can do the same. Other users can also manipulate tasks they have been assigned. Each can update (sync) to the cloud, which would then be available for others to sync to. This program would be great for serious projects. It is understandable that the online service will not be free if you choose to use it, however the program has a lot of value without ever having to "sync" with others all on its own. Take note that the license terms state that The User has the right to: Use all features of the Service for evaluation purposes for 45 days free of charge.

That tells me that after 45 days, you decide if you want to stick with the program only or use its online syncing service. I'm fine with that.

Ela S. @Constantin Florea: Thanks for your help, confirmation e-mail has arrived howsoever :-)

The German website indicates that the program can be installed in Dropbox etc, so no synchronization function should be needed.

LeaderTask Daily Planner is an sophisticated to-do-planner and has been well developed over the years. The new screenshots and functions look great. Needs some time to get through it, but it is worthwhile to give it a a trial, esp when looking for a GTD planner.

Many thanks.

HJ B Downloaded and installed.
Could not find a user manual in the download or a help function on the program.
Went to website and did not find a manual.

The website appears to have a bunch of notes that one can browse. but they are more promotional than instructional. I also do not want to spend much time on a website that Malwarebytes says is malicious.

Too bad, since the top level of the user interface seems to have been well done.

Charles Beauchamp This could be an excellent way for a business to connect worldwide IF the vendor was more responsive. IF it were CERTAIN that the data are secure, the data are large volume (~ 1 GB per user & <$7 per user per year with 30 or more users), the data can be used locally in the "chief's computer" AND the data can be backed up locally, AND last but not least the data backed up locally can be converted into a standard data format prn THEN this could be a really desirable program for an internationally situated company. In addition if it had lisp & prolog API's for "AI" usage, this program could be an OUTSTANDING program with super intelligence capabilities.
