What are people saying about ListPro

J M I'm trying to buy ListPro, but Im having issues completing the purchase.

When I go to click on "Buy Now," it takes me to another page, however, in-about 1 to 2 seconds later, I'm redirected to a blank (white) screen

Thanks in-advance for your assistance,

P.S. This has happened before when I tried to make a purchase on another program I was interested in. And I still don't know why I keep having problems with this.

Mary Wilson I have owned this program for a number of years. It has been great for a wide variety of products. Part of the reason I like it so well is that in addition to the version here which I use on my desktop, I use the portable version on my Tungsten TX. It is great to have my ToDo list and other lists with me durning the day.

Software Guy Question about your EULA - is this a single user license, allowing us to run on our desktop, laptop and netbook or palm?

Suggestion - perhaps you could also offer your essentials suite as an option also. Thanks!
Sep 17 2009 at 2:03am Copy Link
Ilium Software Hi Software Guy, thanks for asking. No, this is a desktop only license, but you can add a palm or Windows Mobile version for a discount as well.

The Essentials suite is a little specific for BDJ, but if you buy ListPro or eWallet on BDJ, give us a call and ask our phone guys for a discount on the rest of the suite. I'm sure they'll be accomodating.

Charlotte Sinclaire Is there a version available to run on iPhone that would synch with the desktop version you offer here?

Steve M I've used Ilium's ListPro for years. You can see a review of an older version that I wrote at a href="http://review.svpocketpc....o4.html"my site/a. Definitely recommended if you make lots of lists.

Nom Prive I have checked every few months for 5-6 years now to see if Listpro has been made for the blackberry. It's a HUGE market for you. Can you tell me WHY you don't want to do it? Is it a programming problem? It's the best list program I've ever had, but I travel too much to go back to a Windows Mobile phone.
Dec 16 2009 at 10:38pm Copy Link
Ilium Software Thanks Nom Prive, We do want to do ListPro for Blackberry. It's just very complicated and expensive to implement and support. We haven't given up on the idea, but right now don't have any definite plans for it. Sorry.

Mary Wilson I have owned this program for a long time and love it. My only problem with it is that it has not has a update since 2007. When are you planning to update it?
Apr 8 2010 at 10:02am Copy Link
Ilium Software Hi Mary, Thanks for your interest. I'm glad you like ListPro. We're working on an upgrade now, but it's hard to say when it will be available. Please keep an eye on our website for more info. Are there particular features you'd like to see added or changed?

Greg Brown I purchased this last time around, and for all of you looking for a "to-do" type program, you really should give this a test. A great program at a great price IMHO. I've had no problems whatsoever.

Alexander Deliyannis I have a license for ListPro since several years; the program is very flexible and one of the best solutions for handling complex lists, thanks to its powerful outlining and filtering features.

If there's one drawback to ListPro it is this: though it is most useful on a mobile device, it is only available for mobile Windows and Palm OS. There is no version for other modern mobile platforms such as Android, iPhone and Symbian (my own choice). Any chance that one or more of these platforms will be supported in the future?
Apr 12 2010 at 5:48am Copy Link
Ilium Software Hi Alexander, Thanks for writing. I'm glad you like ListPro. We're working on an iPhone version right now, but it's such a complex program, it's not a short implementation. We haven't made a decision yet about Android. I doubt we'll do a Symbian version, sorry.

Guy Good I just bought this software and thought this was the Professional version judging from the name List PRO. Is this the Professional version that comes with the Palm piece or not? I own an old Palm M100 and hoped they worked together.

Paula Hillard I'm a VERY long time fan of list pro fromWAY back with PALM, but I've converted to Apple/ iPhone/ iPad awhile ago. I still check back periodically to see how long it might be before I can once again use my favorite list program. I am also a HUGE fan of eWallet --- probably even more than list pro, and every day, multiple times a day I thank iliumsoft that my "accessory brain"-- now iPhone 4 keeps my 3 bejillion passwords straight. I am still waiting for list pro, and will continue to wait, but it's nice to hear a word of hope now and then. In the meantime, THANKS for eWallet!

Alexander Deliyannis I have to say that the wealth of software being made available for the iPhone is, for me at least, the single most important reason to purchase it. I think that when ListPro is joins the iPhone club I will finally succumb.

Dierk ListPro has been a long-time favorite, both on desktop as well as several Windows Mobile PDA/Smartphones.

Alas, there is no version for Android. Even worse, have not been able to find a suitable replacement that runs on Android.
Feb 26 2013 at 7:21am Copy Link
Danny Suitable for only two platforms like Windows 7 + 8, is that correct?
Feb 26 2013 at 11:19am Copy Link
Dierk Danny Thys - Suitable for only two platforms like Windows 7 + 8, is that correct?

Well, there is a mobile version that still runs on Windows Mobile 6.x (& earlier).

And you can Export lists in several formats - but without a True Sync to a modern mobile OS (Android, iOS, or Windows Mobile 8), ListPro is less useful than previously.

Although the Desktop version is still pretty!
Feb 26 2013 at 11:52am Copy Link
Ilium Software Hi Danny,

Yes, the Widows PC version of ListPro is for Windows 7 & 8 (Desktop) although you'll likely find it works on XP and Vista too; we just don't test on those platforms any longer.

The PC version does do full item level sync with the iPhone version (Dierk, you may be looking at an older version) using a local WiFi network.

Michael R. So, is there any Android version planned in a near future?
Is it free for today's buyers?
Feb 27 2013 at 12:25am Copy Link
Ilium Software No Android version planned in the short term. If we do an Android version, it would likely be a separate purchase through the Google Play store.

Omar Bellal Does ListPro have a feature to add notes to a to-do list item (like Swift To-Do does)? If yes, is there any size limit to such notes? This feature will determine whether I buy or not.

Feb 27 2013 at 11:18am Copy Link
Ilium Software @Omar: Yes, you can have a note field for every item. I don't have access to the office today so I can't give you a size, but you can check out the 30-day trial and see if it will meet your needs:

NK Awesome product! My whole life is stored in ListPro. I've been using it since September, 2001. In fact, it is the only reason I will be buying an iOS device instead of an Android device. I have found no better replacement. The speed, reliability and flexibility is what keeps me with LIstPro.
Feb 27 2013 at 2:30pm Copy Link
Ilium Software @NK: Thanks very much for the kind words!

Ilium Software - Feb 27 2013 at 2:33pm Copy Link
Omar Bellal Thanks Ken. I downloaded the trial version and the notes field size is more than enough.

I wish there was an easier way to increase the font for everything, like one button to increase / one button to decrease.

Otherwise, a great app. Thanks

Javier Gil I'm going to download the desktop version and try it out, but the fact that there isn't an Android version (even one that I had to buy on its own) is definitely a stop sign for me...

Randy Niven Purchased the paid version in 2011 for Windows (this was also the last time the Windows version was updated). It's great software but as others have noted, there is no Android version.

Based on the last several years experience with them I wouldn't buy their software unless they start to provide more active support of their products and update them to stay up with market standards (i.e., the market and similar products continue to advance, add new features, etc., but Ilium Software is lagging behind with several of their products, pricing structures, etc.).
Mar 1 2013 at 5:54am Copy Link
Jan-Christoph Ihrens @D T: A few days ago I downloaded the current version, and it still was version

In June 2011 (!) I asked if a very disturbing bug could finally be fixed - keyboard shortcuts such as the AltGr key don't work in ListPro 5.1. As a German, I'm unable to enter square brackets, braces, backslashes, e-mail adresses (the @ is missing), Euro signs, pipe symbols and tilde symbols. As a web developer who creates and maintains lists with all kind of technical information, I'm using most of these characters quite frequently, and it is very annoying to have to type them in another editor and to copy them into ListPro. If I don't pay attention, I just leave these characters out by mistake, which could render the note I take down completely useless (think of regular expressions, for example).

The answer was: "Unfortunately, I just don't know what changes we will be making to ListPro in the future, or what timeframe we will be working on.

What do you sync ListPro with? If you are only using it on your PC, or if you are using it with a Windows Mobile device, and if you are not using the rich-text Notes options, you could go back to using ListPro 4.1."

When I told them that I didn't want to downgrade and much preferred the bug to be fixed, I was told the following: "Sorry for your frustration. eWallet is the product that keeps us in business and makes ListPro possible. Without eWallet there would be no ListPro. As a result, eWallet gets the focus of our resources. Although we have not abandoned ListPro (we released ListPro for iPhone for instance), we can't devote the resources to it that we can focus on eWallet. That means that ListPro updates don't come as often as eWallet updates.
We do intend to put in the fix you are asking about although we just don't know when that will happen. In the meantime, although the statement that we are working on a fix is true, we've removed it from the Knowledge Base to avoid misunderstanding."

Don't get me wrong - I still love and use ListPro (I didn't find an appropriate replacement, and I would have to migrate all my lists). But you shouldn't expect any updates soon, if ever.

Nico Westerdale Ilium Software has a special place in our hearts here at BitsDuJour. Over five years ago Ellen Craw, who works for Ilium, started BitsDuJour as a blog. The website changed hands to us about a year later, many years later and several rewrites of the website you have the BitsDuJour that you see today. So without Ilium there would be no Bits!
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 1 2013 at 7:18am Copy Link
Lew Phillips It seems quite odd that you can't put the notes where you want. The program forces you to put them in the "Documents\ListPro\Synchronized ListFiles" directory. Even going into the registry won't help as it apparently is hard coded.

Why can't we put the files where we want?
Mar 1 2013 at 5:21pm Copy Link
Javier Gil Ok, after testing it, I did buy this. It's really a lot more versatile than I expected and has many useful features, easy to use, export functions, etc. The following excellent review by people who knew a lot about the subject did help me in deciding to purchase it: http://www.donationcoder....ic=27802.0

I'm very happy with it. I hope they do develop an android version one day, but meanwhile, the desktop version is excellent.
Mar 1 2013 at 9:58pm Copy Link
Nico Westerdale Great News! Ilium Software has agreed to extend this deal for another day - Enjoy!
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 2 2013 at 12:11am Copy Link
webdancer ListPro is a awesome list manager. I've been using it daily since 2003. The calculated fields and display customization options are great (too bad they changed from the clear, easy-to-see icons in ver 4.x and reduced the number of available icon options).

It would be nice if they had a way to allow the export and import of category field data to a file. The currently displayed category items are exported when a list is exported, but after creating a lot of category values, it would be nice to be able to manipulate them as a group.

Since I'm on an unsupported platform (and have a seriously old-school PDA) and the new version doesn't appear to offer me anything new and desirable, I'll pass on this. But if you have any of the few platforms they currently support, this is a good deal and you'll find the software very useful and fun to use.

ETA: I also agree with the posters who wrote that Ilium need to do a better job of maintaining and updating the software.
Mar 2 2013 at 2:26am Copy Link
Gren Bingham As a long time ListPro user I am dumbfounded at how Illium has conspired to kill this really excellent product by not making it available on Android.

There is a reasonable and FREE Android alternative available now called FetchNotes at http:/ It works, I have used it for four months now It does not offer all the built in functionality and structure of ListPro, but you can make it do pretty much what is needed from a list manager. It is available on iPhone, Android, Windows PC, and even Macs.

I am so dismayed at the short sighted behaviour by Illium. I still keep a copy of ListPro on my iPhone and PC, but if I cannot get cross-platform access using the cloud ...... well you all know what I am saying, too bad Illium doesn't. I have asked them for several years for an Android version (Illium, see my contact forms.)

Gina Anderson No Android version? Bummer! I was going to buy this up until I read that. I need something my husband and I can use on our phones too. I have iPhone, but he has Android, and I may be going to Android as well. Oh well, back to texting the grocery and task lists.
Mar 2 2013 at 6:02am Copy Link
Gren Bingham Hi Gina ... look at FetchNotes ...built in free synch between all platforms.
Mar 2 2013 at 6:16am Copy Link
Jim B Gren - thanks for the reference. I have an iPhone but only for another 6 months, at which point I am trashing it for another Android that will actually let me do what I want to do instead of what Apple wants me to do. What a mistake that was! Lack of Android support makes today's deal useless for me.
Mar 2 2013 at 8:41am Copy Link
Joshua Margolis I have been using ListPro for many years and actually rely on it for my business and cannot switch unless something else comes along, nothing has. Many people have been asking for an Android version since 2009, if they needed funds the Android version may have been the answer. I recently gave up my Windows Mobile and refused to get an iPhone even though I really rely on ListPro for my business, I got an Android and could not be happier. I need to bring my laptop everywhere instead.

Lots of functions
User friendly
Small Program, uses little resources
Can be ran from a USB drive ( sort of )
Calculations is nice
Filtering is good
View is nice and easy to see

No major updates in like 6 years
Android version is unlikely to be created
Company has basically abandoned the product
User fields is limited to 25 + 7 system ( needs like 50+ )
Cannot compute on a computed field
No way to filter between two date ranges
No way to filter on items without a date ( using the date field )
No way to use more then one dynamic calculation
No filter favorites
No shared fields across lists in the same file
Formatting is limited

I really like ListPro and will continue to use it. I would happily purchase an Android version and a new Desktop version should the above enhancements be included. You need to determine what you need from program and see if this works for you. Even though the is no more development, the product is very mature and still will be useless for most people.
Mar 2 2013 at 10:19am Copy Link
Frank Stephens ListPro is a good deal at $10. It uses space for keeping track of items to be synchronized even if you tell it that you're not going to be synchronizing. For Android users, you can create lists in Google Docs on your Google Drive. Those are inherently multi-platform, and a printed page and a pen are smaller and lighter than any smartphone. Lists in Google Docs are easy to create and print, but not so great for interactivity. ListPro is great for interactive lists. Clearly, some people have uses for this type of software, I'll have to decide if I'm one of them. I have time-management software to keep track of things to do, and a piece of paper is more convenient (to me) for grocery lists. There are lots of little databases for entering custom fields and searching, sorting, etc. I used to use one years ago on my Linux-based Sharp Zaurus and my PC, it was multi-platform.
