What are people saying about Logo Design Studio Pro Vector

Doug Lietz I already have the main graphic element that I want to use for my logo. Would I be able to import this element into your software as my starting point? And if so, do I need to import it as a vector graphic? Or can I import it as a PNG with a transparent background? I would like to be able to export my finished logo as a vector graphic.

Summitsoft Corporation Hi Doug, yes you will need to import it as a vector graphic.

Doug Lietz It is an .eps file. Will that work?

Our logo is basically the 3 letters of our company... black stylized font on a white back ground. If I import this as an .eps file, will your software be able to add a drop shadow to each of the letters individually... like I would do if I was working with a .png file in my PhotoshopElements software?

Do you have a trial download option for your software? If so, I could do a quick test with .eps to see if what I am thinking will end up working for me.

HungryForDeals Just bought it. Does not install under windows 10 even though the web site says xp through windows 10. Says, "error" when trying to start the program. I even tried compatibility mode.

Doug Lietz @HungryForDeals... that is a problem... hopefully @Summitsoft Corporation will be able to respond... I use Win10 as well.

Sine the The Fine Print says "No Returns" ... I'm still waiting for a response to my .eps question as well.

Jon User Hungry... I just purchased and installed this and I am running successfully on Windows 10. It is definitely compatible.

For all - Since I could not find any docs on their website I thought it would be useful for people to know there is a pretty solid user guide enclosed in the installation as C:\Program Files (x86)\Summitsoft\Logo Design Studio Pro\LDSProVHelp.pdf.

Doug,

I went to the import function and under import->pictures it lists these file types as options:

SVG (.svg)
Compressed SVG (.svgz)
Windows Metafiles (.wmf)
Enhanced Metafiles (.emf)
JPEG (.jpeg/.jpg)
BMP (.bmp)
TIFF (.tiff)
PNG (.png)

I do not see any option for .eps files. I suspect they would need to license that from Adobe (making this cost way more) if they were to include it since I'm pretty sure that is a proprietary file format.

John I was actually just going to buy this because the price was low enough to give it a shot. But then I read the fine print:

1) You must install/register the software within 7 days, and cannot do so afterwards.
- So I need to *immediately* install the software on both my desktop and laptop, and if I ever replace either, I wont be able to install the app again.

2) Online license activation is required. what's this?
- Even if the above wasn't enough to kill my chances of ever installing your app again on another PC, if your server/company ever goes down - I'm also out of luck.

So, no thanks - the chances are I will be throwing my money away with these restrictions.

Constantin Florea @John, For paid promotions (such as this one) we are using the same license policy as the vendor uses on the product site. I just asked the vendor if this (the 7 day registration window) is the license policy they are using when selling the product on the product site.

Lightgate User Any update on the license policy – I'm with John ... I'd like to buy it, but not if the
licensing policy is that restrictive!

Jon User Seems this vendor isn't great on communications leading to a lot of confusion that could be avoided. Hopefully their direct support is better if needed.

If it helps anyone, there is a faq answer on the vendor's page that words it completely differently. It says the download link will be active for 7 days and allows 6 total downloads. When I got mine yesterday it came with an emailed license key that presumably will reload on this computer or a 2nd one any time. Like almost all other commecial software the online activation enforces the 2 computer limit.

Summitsoft Corporation Hello all, the license policy is simply to be used up to two computers. The maximum number of activation allowed per license is two. Hope this clarify things.

App is compatible with Win10. If you have had any issues please be sure to let our support team know. You can submit a support ticket here: http://summitsoft.kayako....ets/Submit

Sorry no .esp file.

Anyone is welcome to see the app manual here. http://summitsoft.kayako....tor-manual

rodken Don't understand the strict license policy, but decided to grab this at this great price. Site would not accept my credit card for whatever reason. Will be remembered as a bad experience. Won't be wasting anymore of my time on this.

Eustace Phenackertiban Have the problems with not being able to group and then ungroup been fixed, or not being able to rotate objects without first grouping them with some other object (which is compounded by the first problem)? I'd like to buy, but if these issues still exist they would be problematic, since both are frequently required operations in vector image editing programs. Thanks.

Summitsoft Corporation Hi Eustace, would you be so kind to submit a support ticket through our site http://summitsoft.kayako....ets/Submit that way the appropriate team can handle your request. Thank you

Eustace Phenackertiban @Summitsoft Corporation — ??? I didn't purchase the product. After you confirmed that the very longstanding issue with not being able to rotate objects unless they are grouped, and the additional issue of grouped objects returning to their original orientation, with random positioning, when ungrouped, had not yet been resolved, I decided that the product was of no use to me. Unless a support ticket would result in these issues being resolved, I don't really see much point in creating one, n'est-ce pas? Is that the case?

Summitsoft Corporation @Eustace, this issue has been resolved with our latest version 1.7.3. Ctrl G will group the image as a whole to rotate as desired.

Eustace Phenackertiban Umm... but that still does not address the issues. In such a program, the user will often wish to ungrroup a sample logo, rotate ***an element of the image***, then regroup the image. The problem is, once the rotated image or image part is ungrouped, the image or its constituent parts return to their original orientation. The fundamental issue is that objects cannot be rotated ***unless they are grouped***, and ***grouped objects that have been rotated return to their original orientations when ungrouped, with the ungrouped objects assuming random positions not necessarily consistent with their positions when grouped.***.

Those issues are not addressed by having a hotkey that simply groups the entire image to rotate the whole thing. That does not provide the functionality a user requires in a logo design application.

So, the question remains: (a) Is it possible to rotate individual objects which have ***not*** been grouped? and (b) When grouped objects which have been rotated are subsequently ungrouped, do the rotated objects retain the orientation and positions they held before they were ungrouped?

BTW, all this backing and forthing would be obviated if you would simply offer a trial version. Then the answer would be given easily by simply trying out the functionality. Just sayin'... ;-)
