Like flossing and changing your oil, backing up your hard drive is something that we know we should be doing regularly, but really very few of us actually do.

We make excuses like "It's too complicated!" or "I don't have enough time!" and then subject our families and coworkers to our deep and agonizing suffering when our hard drive finally crashes and we lose those precious Elvis Museum photos... forever.

Well, how about a single right-click backup solution? Would that work for your hectic lifestyle?

Macrium Reflect can create a backup image of your entire hard drive, or individual files and folders, and today's discount coupon code promotion makes it a no-brainer. It's got wizards to walk you through everything, you can schedule your backups to run when you're not using your machine, and it even has the ability to boot up your Windows XP, Vista, or Server 2003 machine from a CD if you can't even get the hunk of junk to boot into Windows.

And, yes, you can even create a disk image with a single right-click, in case you're flossing with your other hand.

So, forget your teeth. Forget the car. But do backup your hard drive. Elvis would have wanted you to, and he would have used the coupon code too.

Eddie Tex Wow. This product is like never is on sale. I have preferred it's free version even over my paid Acronis solutions. Highly recommended if you want a solid and straight-forward back-up solution that doesn't flood your computer with all kinds of background processes like Acronis True Image. I had also become frustrated with Acronis' practice of releasing new major revisions every year.

Tomasz User Hi Sual,
now I'm using Standard version and I'm happy. I don't understand all differences between Standard and Professional ver. Could you explain it in short way? Thanks
Jun 2 2012 at 4:17am Copy Link
0
Nick Sills @Aaron Gravvat - I'm afraid this is not possible.

@Overtkill - Yes this is v5 and SSD alignment is supported

@aladdin - This offer is for a single copy of the professional edition only, not household pack.

@umike - Yes, you can clone directly to an external hard drive

Eddie Tex @ Tim N

According to their website, Professional adds the following to Standard:
-Dynamic disk support
-GPT disk support
-Restore images to new hardware using Macrium ReDeploy

@umike,

While you technically could do something like that, be aware... I had tried something similar once and one of two installations of Windows deactivated itself rather quickly with the message the message that my copy was not genuine. In my case, I had tried to create two partitions on the same disk, both with the same installation of Windows (with the same purpose you had stated). It might work out differently for you with two separate disks.

J S Just one question:

Stefan Hauber I'm missing the Policy-Tab in this offer.

Can I use the created backup/restore-boot-cd to backup all my computers?
Jun 3 2012 at 1:52am Copy Link
0
Nick Sills @j s - Rollback RX causes problems for disk imaging software as it stores state outside the partition. It is not recommended.

@Stefan Hauber - This license is for a single PC.
Jun 3 2012 at 4:19am Copy Link
0
mcastaldo @J S - Yes Macrium Reflect will take a sector by sector backup image of your HDD.

@Stefan Hauber - No Stefan, the license is tied to one PC and is not transferrable to any other computer, unless the computer that you have licensed Reflect to is being upgraded.

umike @Nick Sills.
I am using Rollback Rx. When you mention "Rollback RX causes problems for disk imaging software", do you mean I cannot use Rollback Rx if I want to use Macrium Reflect Professional? Or the backup image will be invalid?

@Eddie Tex, thanks for sharing your experience. I need to be careful of that.

DroidLuvr Wow; I can't believe this is coming up soon either! I'm disappointed that a multi-pack or multiple licenses aren't being offered, but I definitely will be buying one license. I have been using the free version and prefer it over any of my other paid backup products, including Acronis or Norton. It is an excellent product for anyone who has never used it; and I have been an IT Pro for 20+ years and I've seen all the imaging and backup software out there I think.

One question: if I do buy a single license for my "main" computer, and continue to use the free version on my other secondary machines, will they work "together" or will the pro cause any problems with the "free" installations on my home network?

Thanks!
Jun 3 2012 at 1:27pm Copy Link

Gue This software seems to fit my needs perfectly! Just one question: you said "the license is tied to one PC and is not transferrable to any other computer", and I'm about to fully upgrade my old workstation in a few months, effectively resulting in a whole new PC. Will it be possible to transfer the license in upgrade circumstances, or will I be almost throwing money away if I buy now, before the new build?
Jun 4 2012 at 3:20am Copy Link

Magnus Hamilton I have the Pro app and I couldn't be more pleased (well... I wish I purchased it at this price).

I recently swapped out my HD for an SSD and used Macrium Reflect instead of the program that came with the new drive. It was a flawless effort.

Neil I have a V4 license already. If I buy a new copy here, do I need to uninstall my v4 version in order to preserve its license? I figure then I can put the v4 license on my laptop.

Also, is there an option in the software to just produce the "backup cd" that is offered for $11.95 ourselves?

Michelle Bereza Hi...can someone explain what the CD for $11.95 would do for me? Is it just a backup copy of the software or does it do more? Thanks.
Jun 4 2012 at 9:35am Copy Link

mcastaldo @Cheryl - Macrium Reflect does not include any partitioning tools, but it does include resizing partions on restore.

@Neil - Yes I recommend that you uninstall Reflect v4 and the install your v5 license. You can create a rescue CD from within the software, but it does not include the installer like the $11.95 version does.

@Mihai - You can backup and restore from NAS over a network, when backing up the NAS you would need to do a file and folder backup.

J S No Replies from the Vendor at all, so far today?. If this program is so good then why is the customer service so poor? Saul Painter where are YOU?

NO POLiCY info at all. Q1. For example if this program doesn't back up a RollBack RX harddrive (sector-by-sector) can we ask for a refund?

Q2. Is there any refund policy at all or the actual license details available, not just a small portion that has been reprinted in earlier replies.

Q3. What are the minor update and major upgrade policies?

Q4. Is "the full Macrium Reflect Windows PE bootable recovery environment" available as a download or only available on the optionally purchased CD?

@kailey stone - The offer is only on Macrium Reflect Professional, but at a massive 60% discount!

@Tim Smith - Agreed. Not sure what has gone wrong there. Could you buy two individual copies?

@JS - Many apologies for not getting back to you. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee. Price includes minor upgrades and bug fixes until the next major release comes out. Windows PE comes with the package or you can use Reflect to download Windows AIK environment.

@SoftCollector - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Feel free to download and install a trial before you buy.

Steven Avery Hi,

If your plan is to use image software strictly for image (and other software for file-by-file) then I want to remind you that Macrium's free is extremely capable for this need. I recently had an OS crash and used Macrium to restore an early OS image.. so there was no problem with finding CDs, installing drivers etc. Behind Macrium I consider DriveImageXL to be friendly and capable in free version as well.

The Professional is more, I think, for extra techie stuff (like restoring to a different system) yet the limitation to 1 PC is discordant with the techie idea.

Much as I like Macrium, and am tempted to purchase to be in a better communication and support position, at the moment I can not find the justification. 2 hours to consider.

In my case I keep my large files on a separate partition from the OS, so I would rather use Cobian or Backup4All for that part of my backup. I think the Macrium Professional may allow file-by-file reinstall rather than the whole enchilada, for some people in some cases that might be more than enough to justify the Professional.

I am happy to be convinced in the next hour or two. Or, perchance, to dream, the special will have an extension. It is a natural for an extra day in the sun.

Steven

DroidLuvr Aww, crud: my internet went down; I can't believe I missed this...

Any possibility of it being back soon?
Jun 5 2012 at 9:22am Copy Link
0
Tineksia Titoote @Nick Sills: Rollback RX doesn't store the snapshots "outside" the partition.
It uses the same partition, and you can see that when you take snapshots, the more you take them, the less free space you will have on the partition. The size of the partition remains the same.
All the snapshot images are "hidden" though,as they're written directly on the sectors, and allocated as used.
That's why NO defragment software should be used ever when Rollback RX is installed, cause it will mess up the things how RX works and makes the snapshots a lot larger.

There's full instructions and discussion about doing sector-by-sector backups of the partition with rollback rx on it..
With the rival software, Acronis, it has to be done outside Windows (eg. using the pre-windows loader,or bootable media with acronis recovery on it..) dunno about the case with Macrium, but if it supports sector-by-sector images, then it should work aswell.

Hope this helps.

Mark Chiang Actually P C has a good point. Even the FREE version of Easeus Todo backup has features like incremental and differential backup, and their paid version is only $29! Again I do think Macrium is more polished overall but if they will not adjust or have more promotions then more people will probably go with EaseUs, that's a failure with their marketing.
