Does it work with other programs like Skype, Messenger Tools and i.e. Outlook (2007/2010)?

Does it work with HTTPS and SSL connections?

Can I set the IP address be set to change automatically and how often?

SoftCollector Dear Evgeniy,

Thank you for your offer to sell Mask Surf Pro at a discounted price.

Here are a few questions that I hope you can address:

1. What is you privacy policy? Do you collect any kind information about visited sites, etc. even 'not personally identiable', and who do you provide it to (or are required to provide it to) for advertising purposes, to help the law, etc.?
2. What is the max/min speed achieved by passing my traffic through your IP addresses – in other words: how will my connection suffer?
3. Does the software have any cookie management functionality? If cookies are not controlled 'anonymity' cannot be achieved.

Kind Regards,
SC

Evgeniy Minakov Mask Surf Pro works separately from antivirus and antimalware software. Pro version support most popular browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera) and any program that shares Internet Explorer's proxy settings (Google Chrome, Safari, etc.).

It redirects your Internet traffic to the Tor anonymous network through SOCKS proxy connection. So if you set your browser anonymized all it traffic will be sent to anonymous network until you quit the program or unset anonymity.

IP address can be changed at any time for technical needs. So do not rely on specific false IP.

Thanksoft - Dec 21 2012 at 8:06am Copy Link

1

Evgeniy Minakov @SoftCollector,
1. Mask Surf itself doesn't collect any data. So you can read privacy policy from technology developers "The Tor Project":
2. Your real surfing speed will be different each time. From 20 MB/s to maybe 200KB/s. This is determined randomly but can be changed with speed settings.
3. No, it have not cookies control function. The anonymity is always a relative thing. Mask Surf Pro provides traffic encryption, traffic analysis protection, false IP addresses with country selection. It certainly is not everything, but it's more than offering any VPN service.

Tor Browser Bundle is good free standalone product. But it has limits. If you use Tor Browser Bundle you are limit to Firefox ESR modification with rare updates and fewer customization options. With Mask Surf Pro you can use last version of any popular browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera). With Mask Surf Everything you can use any program at all (apart from a few exceptions).

Furthermore Mask Surf has its own functions like country selection and speed filters.

Carl Matteson I was willing to pay the discounted price for this interesting software, however, the company wants far too much unnecessary information for a purchase through PayPal. Someone should tell the company that the purpose of using a third party payment system like PayPal is to assure the seller of payment and to assure the purchaser that private information remains private. Too bad, the CNet review is quite good.

"Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed"

After we buy it, it's ours to keep/to use/to re-install, either after a crash, an infection, an upgrade, or on a new PC or Laptop as we buy those with more frequency these days
So, I don't understand why this clause is valid, as can't find a logic explanation for its application.
Can you please address this point?

I have tried uninstalling Mask Surf Pro, but IE still will not connect to the Internet no matter what I try.

There is no problem with the Internet itself as my stand-alone mail program still collects my mail, and I can use FireFox to connect normally (FF is how I am writing this now).

Please offer me a solution to this issue. I bought this program thinking it would make surfing the Internet safer, never thinking it would stop me from using IE.

Now when I start MaskSurf I get the message 'Unable to connect to TOR!' (*) and when clicking inside the 'Countries'-tab to the button 'obtain the list of countries' I get a message, that no connection could be established, because the target-computer does not allow a connection'.

(*) After that the user-proxy-server checkbox in the LAN-window of the preferences is checked, but without any entry in the following address and port edit-boxes. But even if I uncheck this box (and am able to access to the internet now), a click on the 'obtain the list of countries' does result in the same message...

What to do?

The whole idea of PRIVACY is MASKING who you are, where you are, and the prevention of tracking your FINGERPRINTS.

It is probably better to jump from Proxy to Proxy as a hacker then to use this type of software, which may not be that reliable. It is not that hard to do.

There are about one thousand exit nodes in Tor network. So you really don't need public proxies with program which use Tor in smart way.

Mask Surf Pro doesn't require annual renewal payments. But new functions will not be added in the future. In fact it's connected things: constant development of modern software product requires time and efforts all the time and can't be paid by lifetime licenses.
If you are satisfied with Mask Surf Pro and it's discounted price you can use it.

I then clicked on "Register by email" and followed the steps, which requires you to add the reigstration code, then hit the "Save Request" button, save the DAT file to my desktop, then opened up an email to the address provided (web-certificates

intelliprotector.com), attached the DAT file, told them my issue with it being a BDJ purchase and it wouldn't work registering directly. This was all just 5 minutes ago. I will let you know what the response is and how long it took to get one.

K James Wait a minute. So half an hour ago you found out that the link above goes to the wrong version, and yet did not tell BDJ to shut this down and restart the deal tomorrow. No, you let it stay up. So now I have to uninstall the version I put on my computer, download the "proper" version, install that, and then register? After everything I already did? Ridiculous. You know, when grocery stores mislabel goods on the shelves with the wrong price, even due to a single employee's negligence, the customer is usually given the product for free. Otherwise it's a violation of Federal regulations as a deceptive marketing practice, prosecutable by the Federal Trade Commission.

I imagine they are out of sync at the home company -- perhaps the serial number works on v4.0?!?

Serious Noize @Peter Blaise, I give it a try and updated to 4.01, that doesn't work, it just tells you "License code not available in this version" so the update is apparently a locked trail only version with no allowed way of registering.

I will say, I give the trial a try and it seems to work pretty good.

I wish they would have mentioned that there was a limited amount of licenses and had a "No more license available" when that limit had been reached instead of sending out licenses that say "BLOCKED" when entered.

Just curious, did ANYONE get a license to work for this?

I would just download the TOR browser for anonymous surfing, from the torproject.org, it's free, open source, has been used for years, and no registration or serial number is needed.

I hate it when I see offers like this, by entities claiming perfection, yet their software is still problematic, and barely at alpha-level, to say the least. Then a company rep comes to reply to potential customers with quite an attitude, telling a frustrated customer to "move on".

Serious Noize I haven't tried installing and registering as of yet, but got a message saying the issue has been fixed.

From my limited trial use I find it to be a very good program based on a few sites I visited for test such as IP recognition and such.

But, I would suggest that anyone who installs or uses this software take the time to READ their privacy policy, it states specifically that it does gather personal information in various way's, and it states SPECIFICALLY PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION IS COLLECTED, so I say this to let all reading this know that it may not be as MASKING and private as you might think.

The privacy policy is rather disturbing to me, especially for a software that is supposed to be used to protect and mask privacy.

[ Evgeniy Minakov ], most "giveaways" are

-- quick and easy to use, no headaches, no hoops to jump through, no giving of anything more than a user's throwaway email,

-- do not require the user to marry the developer -- hey, we just met

-- and the developer welcomes dialog and feedback because they are after goodwill, and improvements.

Do you want feedback?

Heidi-Ann Kennedy-Fourkiller Can you explain why both ESET SS 9 and Emsisost blocks your program. Emsisoft claims you are trying to access disk sectors directly. ESET says the program is trying to manipulate other processes. Looks like FP's, yet an explanation would be welcomed.

May 22 2016 at 7:32am Copy Link

Peter Blaise .
.
[ Heidi-Ann Kennedy-Fourkiller ] though any program can get dinged as malware, it's initially up to the anti malware people to explain, and they do a horrible job, but eventually it's up to the developer in question to run their program through [ VirusTotal . com ] and explain to us what they are doing that gets dinged, or fix their program to not get dinged ( ha! ) -- Mask Surf Pro SHOULD do some 'questionable' things because it's hijacking our Internet presentation, so there SHOULD be an anti malware report that catches it, but how do we independently confirm that that's ALL it's doing, that it is not spying on us?
__________

[ Bob User ], I used [ Tweaking . com ] free AIO All In One Windows repair, skipped right to the [ Fix ] tab, unchecked the top box [ ] and then scrolled down to check ONLY the Internet settings, re-register all files, and all service settings and service re-settings, let it -r-u-n-, and rebooted, and that fixed the Internet on both computers that Mask surf Pro tanked ( one had LAN no WAN, the other had nothing, both W764, both okay now without Mask surf Pro ).
__________

[ Evgeniy Minakov ] thanks, please note that if you feel frustrated, imagine someone with years of successful experience supporting BitsDuJour developers suddenly being unable to even communicate here because their computer cannot get on the Internet anymore, let alone the moribund challenges of downloading, installing, registering, and setting up a program -- oh, have we had a chance to actually USE it yet?!? 'Attitude' come across loud and clear with comments like "blame developer for all the world's evil" -- imagine if you received your own software and it failed to accomplish it's simplest tasks ( installation and registration ), then it tanked your computer, and you tried to fix your computer, and you tried to give feedback that the software was apparently NRFPTY Not Ready For Prime Time Yet ... imagine that ... times a few hundred ... this is a development arena, we expect to work together to get things right, just as we expect you to know your song well before you start singing, thanks for at least acknowledging that your first time out with a giveaway marketing presentation was a failure, now take advantage of the opportunity to make a few thousand loyal customers ( instead of annealing a bad reputation ).
__________

[ Brian Fisher ] thanks for reporting on other programs failing from this developer, may I suggest that one important benefit of BitsDuJour is the ability to TEST DRIVE before purchase. Whatever it is you are trying to do with YouTube, may I send you to [ AbelsSoft . net ] for his YSD YouTube Song Downloader ( Vimeo and videos, too ), free, and if it fails, your computers need some tweaks or additional programs, but until a program proves it's worth, why do we give people money? There are many alternatives to Mask surf, inside Google Chrome a free extension like [ Browsec ] works for me, and in combination with [ Incognito ] window mode, there no record out there or in here of ME on the web.
__________

... I've been at this for a day and a half now, since a few minutes after it supposedly became available ( never, actually, for me, in spite of direct email registration twice ), had tried an earlier offering through GlarySoft Giveaway ( so, this is the FIRST time they tried a giveaway?!? NOT ), and I'm wondering why I just don't move on, burnt twice should be enough for most consumers to know NRFPTY when they see it.

Sorry, [ Evgeniy Minakov ], but you are just going to have to get a sense of humor, laugh at this, fix everyone's computers, and try, try, try again -- Colonel Sanders famously tried 1,000 times before getting a first chance to get past rejection, have some fried chicken, and try again.

Status after 1 1/2 days -- I installed ( dozens of times ) and am presented with the registration screen, where all button clicks lead to error messages, saying either "cannot browse there" or "cannot register" equivalents, then after 3 attempts to register via email, it finally gave me something new -- it tanked off screen completely, and then only loaded without any window, which I killed with task manager, and now it won't load anything at all. And again. And again. And again ... and so ....

Okay, here's my problem with modern programs -- they have no integrity, no self-check, no self-repairing skill.

After multiple reboots and attempts to install and uninstall and reinstall multiple versions and register the Mask Surf Pro program ...

( a ) there is no way to track what changes have been made after so many ersatz attempts, how many times I have tried to discipline the stranger inside my computer, and

( b ) after so many failures, why is the program unable to say "... it looks like I failed, would you like me to fix myself? ..."

I get the feeling developers are happy to market to people whose computers behave exactly like the developer's computer, and all others can "... take a hike... it's your fault ..."

I never got this kind of negligent disregard from Peter Norton, I only got immediate fixes, and a "... thank you ..."
