Robert User If a file on the source side is re-named (no changes made since last backup), will the file be treated as a new file to be backed up, or will it be recognized as a renamed file, and thus, the destination backup be renamed to match?

If the file is recognized as a renamed file, and the changes are made at the target end, will the same thing happen if the source file is both renamed and altered (internal changes made on the source file)?

Gary Smith In the older comments, a user posted that he was experiencing "user aborted" messages on this product (that he did not abort), and other times it worked. That user never got a response from the developer here explaining to potential new users what the solution was. Can that be clarified?. A product that "sometimes works" is not the type of product most of us are interested in.

Michael R. Syncing via FTP/SFTP, can I encrypt my files, so to restore data from FTP the user needs a password?

Is this done too by synchroniszing directly between two computers?

If I want to use your program between my 3 standalone-comupters, between I want to synchronize my main-data-Directory, buying 1 license is sufficent, isn't it?

Max D. To Robert User. Our program does not recognize the file renaming. Instead of that it recopies the file with the new name and deletes the file with the old one. If you have to rename very many files very often then the synchronization with our program will not be very effective for you. So, maybe it will be more reasonable for you to search the alternative decision.

To Gary Smith. We have specially checked the history of our email correspondence with Ralph Bressler and have seen for ourselves we answered all of his emails. Moreover, in the last email we made the concrete recommendations to fix the above problem. After that we did not receive any email from him and, so, we considered the problem was fixed. Also since the date of that comment (February, 2012) more than 5 years have passed and our program has been changed very much. During that time we have released almost 30 new releases. So, if there was some error in our program, it was fixed. At least, we did not receive any similar messages.

Max D. To Michael R. You may save files as an encrypted archive. In this case a user needs a password to restore files from that archive. If you save data in an uncompressed form they are not encrypted. When transferring data via a network at the direct synchronization, data are encrypted optionally.
As to the number of licenses. The common rule for the private use is following. The number of licenses is the least number of two: the number of the PCs, on which our program is installed, and the number of users, which work on those PCs. So, if you use the program for the private purposes it is enough to buy 1 license to synchronize 3 computers if only you work on those PCs.
If you use the program in an organization the number of licenses must equal the number of PCs on which our program is installed. If some of those computers work only as the SyncUp-server and there is no one profile on those PCs then the number of license may be reduced by 1 license.

Wearsie Jackson All I can say is "WOW!"....I downloaded the trial to back up to OneDrive and this is software is great! It was super easy to set up and runs seamlessly in the background. Forget paying for expensive backup services (Carbonite, Mozy, etc), this can be used to back up to my 1TB of included space with the Office365 subscription. At this great price I picked up 1 copy for myself and another one for my spouse! (BOTH copies for an AMAZING total of $35!!!)

Evgeni User Once again a question about licenses. I have two computers but everyone is connected to different Internet service providers, one of them sometimes uses VPN. Besides sometimes I go to the neighboring city, but there is a need for synchronization, one license will be enough for me?

Max D. To David McCartney. We consider it is not correctly to compare something without studying it in more detail. At the first sight, our program has the similar features concerning the synchronization via a network but our program also works with the cloud storages such as Google Drive, One Drive, Dropbox (we did not get whether Beyond Sync could do that or not) and our program has many features connecting with the backup.

Petr Pre-Sales Questions:
Q1: I have several Gmail accounts, each with a Google Drive. Can I sync different folders/files to different Google Drive Accounts? Can I use Max Sync with multiple Google Drive accounts concurrently?
Q2: What is needed to link my Google Drive account, just email and password, or more? Please answer in detail as some backup solutions need a complex process to use Google Drive Storage.
Q3: If I am sync'ing two computers over the Internet, do I need to make changes to my firewall or router to allow certain ports? Or, is it configuration free, just using common ports such as Port 80? Please explain.

A1. Yes, it is possible.
A2. You should enter your email and password on the Google authorization page (which open in the special window of the program) and then permit @MAX SyncUp to access to your files.
A3. By default the connection occurs via 20020 port (and this may be changed). If your router supports UPnP the program will set up port forwarding automatically. As to the firewall. If you use Windows Firewall the program will set up it itself. If you use the third-party program then you should open the port manually.

Michael R. Concerning junction links, is it for a junction link possible to choose, if the files in there should be backuped/synched too or not.

Having checked your encryption, beside a Standard zip, where the filenames of an Archive are fully visible, a (proprietary?) msav-format exists. Can you say something about this format, e.g. how the datas are encrypted in there and if the filenames in there are encrypted too.

With my first quick run-through your program made a very good Impression..

Max D. To Michael R.Concerning the msav archive, we can say that in essence it is an encrypted zip archive, in which the list of files is also encrypted and compressed. Concerning junction links, the program can skip them or create them in the destination folder (this can be customized). But the program never crosses these links to avoid looping.
