What are people saying about Mezmind

Colin McAllister I just gave this a try and realised - by using Construction 2 - you can play a pretty novel game of "Frogger" with it! It really took my mind off the other stuff I could be doing, so for the distraction value alone I will probably invest the £3 :-)

I discovered that the "+" symbol adds additional stuff onto the screen, but I'm not sure what all the vertical lines beneath the symbol are for? They just seem to open up a selection menu, so why does it show 4 vertical lines, a large gap, then another vertical line?

I also noticed that the symbols on the right toggle:
-e.g. Rain...Light rain...Heavy rain...Downpour. Interesting.

Perhaps a choice of relaxing sounds/music might add value? I'd like "Singing In The Rain" playing softly in the background during the rain scenes. :-)

Ken Carlino @Colin McAllister Thanks for the feedback! The + is combined with the horizontal line to indicate adding a new base (or platform). The four horizontal lines, as you discovered, opens up the menu to select different themes.

We have considered adding music, however, concluded most users would prefer to select their own music in their preferred music application.

Richard User I downloaded the trial software (Windows version) to check it out. This app has a few frustrating idiosyncrasies. In fact, I ultimately found the app to be unusable.

First, and by far most important, when I click on the menu bars, it brings up a list of themes, most of which are "locked" (which is fine... it's the trial version)... but there is no scroll bar, and the mouse wheel won't move the list, either. I found out that I can click-and-drag down or up SOMETIMES, but often when I click and attempt to drag, it just closes the theme menu and starts running the animation.

Second, every time I pick a theme (or try unsuccessfully to scroll), it opens one or several browser tabs to the Pixarra Software Store. I know this is the trial version, but really? In fact, when trying to scroll beyond Construction 2, it literally opened dozens of browser tabs and there were so many falling construction beams, it nearly froze my PC.

Third, and less important, when you hover over the controls, there is no help text so you know what each control does. That's what I call user unfriendly. I know the learning curve would be short on that, but still. And there are no user options at all to affect the behavior of the program (like toggling help text on/off).

I was inclined to make the $3 purchase, but after running the trial, I think not. If I'm missing something, please let me know.

Ken Carlino @Richard Thanks for the feedback. Part of what you see with the interface is due to the cross-platform effort to have this work on PCs as well as phones/tablets. Therefore, the standard to drag to scroll and no hint text. When you do click an icon their is text that briefly displays to report what was just activated/changed.

There does seem to be an odd behavior you are having with regards to the theme list. This has not been previously reported and so far I can't replicate this.

The performance will depend on your system, all these themes run on moderately powered smart phones, tablets, and PCs. That said you may be able to configure the weather effects such that it could bog down some systems.

Chris Why is this in the fine print?

Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your license key.

Ronald Jurman I'm running into the same theme issues on the purchased version as Richard has on the trial version, except that I've had no luck in getting the menu to scroll at all (when I click, drag, etc.), and it always exits back to the animation while launching a browser tab for the Pixarra home page. Otherwise, fun little program.

Richard User @Ken Carlino My PC has plenty of power. It was bogging down because Mezmind was attempting to put so many falling objects (that I didn't explicitly add... like 50, 60, 70... it just seemed to be doing it itself) and was opening dozens of browser tabs simultaneously. I had to scramble to close them all while exiting Mezmind so it didn't crash the whole PC. Too bad. I would have bought a license. Now the promotion is over. Maybe next time, if you get the kinks worked out.

PS- Also one other little thing. I don't remember seeing an "about" item in the app window. How does the user know what version they are on, e.g., v 2.01?
Aug 27 2018 at 6:39am Copy Link
Ken Carlino @Richard It would seem you have run into some mouse input compatibility issue. With regards to performance, perhaps it has something to do with the extra browser sessions that were being opened. The about details are shown on the splash screen when the program starts.

Ken Carlino @Chris This just means isn't a one time purchase without an option to upgrade.

Ken Carlino @Ronald Jurman Are any of the themes indicated as locked? I'm surprised it's trying to go to the Pixarra home page at all in the purchased version.

Ronald Jurman Hi Ken,

Thanks for the responses.

Some better news today, but still not reliably working.

Yesterday: None of the themes were (or currently are) locked following purchase/activation (most were when I initially tested the trial version). Yesterday, I just couldn't scroll the theme list, and each time I tried (many times and several app restarts) the browser was launched to the home page.

Today: Theme scrolling is hit or miss (still much better than none at all). Sometimes it succeeds, sometimes not (and jumps back to the animation). And the browser launches seem to have stopped (in the few times I had time to try today).

So better, today, but still some reliability issues.

Ken Carlino @Ronald Jurman Thanks for the additional feedback! Good that the browser launching is not occurring because that should not happen on the purchased version. We will do further testing on additional systems to try to get the menu selection for themes reliable.

Ronald Jurman Ken,

Sounds good.
