What are people saying about Mezzmo Pro

George Mclenon awesome app. I have a hell of a lot of MP3 on my desktop PC.
It took a while but I can now view and listen to everything from my PS3. It streams video files across to my PSP and my laptop too. It makes everything much simpler for my wife and kids.

Pete Anderson This looks neat. I'm using TVersity and its a real pain. I could not see anything about Mezzmo transcoding. Does it transcode?
May 7 2008 at 6:17pm Copy Link
Kaz A Neat tool. Great for organizing media!
May 7 2008 at 6:17pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Transcoding is in beta testing now and will be released shortly. All popular formats are supported. The new version will be a free upgrade, so the Bits du Jour deal is a great offer.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - May 7 2008 at 6:23pm Copy Link
Pete Anderson Thanks for the quick answer, Paul. I'm trialling it now and its streaming perfectly to my PS3. Love the user interface and organizing features. Can't wait for transcoding. I'm placing my order now. Thanks!!!

Jon Grewer I would like to know which video formats the server will handle. Specifically, can it stream Matruska (*.mkv) files to my xbox360?
Dec 4 2008 at 8:56pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Jon,

The current version of Mezzmo delivers any format to your device - including Matroska. If your device does not handle the file format, that's when transcoding becomes very useful. Our new version of Mezzmo has full transcoding, so it will convert your files on your computer to formats that your device supports and then deliver them to your device. The new version of Mezzmo is a free upgrade, so buying the current version ensures you will also get the new version for free. It due to be released in late Dec/early Jan (about 3-5 weeks). Let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Kevin O'Reilly Does Mezzmo work with my PS3? How about the latest firmware that I installed on it? Does it work with a LAN connection or wireless connection? Thank you, Kevin.
Dec 4 2008 at 10:03pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Kevin,

Mezzmo works well with the PS3 and with the latest PS3 firmware. You can use either an Ethernet LAN cable or your wireless router to connect your PS3 to your computer. Mezzmo will work well in both cases.

Best regards,

Conceiva Pty Ltd - Dec 4 2008 at 10:10pm Copy Link
J Farmer Sorry, I am new to this. I have an Xbox 360 and my PC. Can I use your program to play the movies I have downloaded on my PC on my TV? At the moment, I am burning DVDs and then playing them in my DVD player.
Dec 4 2008 at 11:39pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann All you need to do is connect your Xbox to your PC using a normal Ethernet LAN cable (or your wireless router) and then install Mezzmo on your PC. On your Xbox, Mezzmo media server will appear and once selected, you will see all your movies stored on your PC. Select one, and Mezzmo will stream it to your TV. Much better than burning DVDs ;) If you have more questions, please just ask.

Best regards,

dave cowley nice software. just bought it :) one question - how do i set up mezzmo so that i can view a folder that has all my videos on my PS3?
Dec 5 2008 at 8:15am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Dave,

Glad you like Mezzmo :) To view media files from a folder on your PC, you create a Watch Folder Playlist in Mezzmo. This will display any music, video and photos in that folder (and sub-folders) on your device so you can play them on your PS3. Contact our support team if you need further help.

Best regards,

hershey sta barbara hello there, we have been trying the whole day to have the ps3 read the files that we have from the laptop... the sw works and reads the folders. but when we use the ps3 to open the iles, there is nothing inside the folders and we get this error message: "protocol error dnla7522".
what does this mean?
please help us. thanks.

Paul Schumann Hello,

Can you please tell me what types of files are contained in those folders (e.g., audio/video/photos?) and also how many files do you have in one folder? The PS3 has a certain limit and sometimes that error can be seen when that limit is reached. Can you please try to create a smaller folder and see if that works? Feel free to contact our Support department (send an e-mail to and we'll look after you.

Stefan Hauber Can I also share files over the internet, i.e. let a given TCP/IP-Adress have (temporarily) access to certain folders or does it only work over the LAN?
Apr 14 2010 at 7:12pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Stefan,

Mezzmo is designed for your home network only. You can stream all your music, videos and photos from your computer to your DLNA devices (TV, etc.) in your home.

Frank Devere Will Mezzmo work with my Sony Bravia LCD TV? Other than Mezzmo what else do I need to stream stuff from my PC to my TV?
Apr 14 2010 at 7:40pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Frank,

Mezzmo works great with Sony Bravia TVs.

Apart from installing Mezzmo onto your PC, you just need to connect a network cable from your TV into your home network (your router, DSL modem, etc.). That's it! It's really easy, but if you have any problems, just ask and we'll help you get up and running.

Peter Murphy Will this work with WiFi internet radio boxes like my REVO?
Apr 14 2010 at 9:11pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Peter,

We have not tested the REVO yet, but from my initial reading seems it supports DLNA, so it should work fine with Mezzmo right now. However, if there's any problems, then our support engineers will be happy to work with you to create a specific device profile to get it up and running perfectly.

Apr 14 2010 at 11:31pm Copy Link
dan stevens what happens with updates? do i get future versions if i buy this special price, or do i have to pay extra later?
Apr 14 2010 at 11:34pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Vijay,

Mezzmo supports MKV files. It will also transcode your MKV files to formats that you device supports (if your device does not support MKV files). Check out our web site for a full list of file formats -

Mezzmo does not need any codecs or codec packs installed on your computer. Just install Mezzmo, and that's it! If you have any problems, just contact us and we'll get you up and running.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 14 2010 at 11:41pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi dan,

To date, all Mezzmo updates have been free for registered users. We have no plans to change this. In fact, there will be a new version released in the next few days - and it's free to all registered users.

This is a bit off-topic, but I often see people mentioning subtitles and I don't know what they are useful for. Is there someplace I can learn what it is used for etc?

Thank you
Apr 15 2010 at 7:24am Copy Link
Howard Beard Just curious how long it normally takes to receive the key/serial email?

Guy Good -- Subtitles allow watching movies that are not in your native language by putting text on the screen, usually at the bottom translating the audio for you. It also allows for hearing impaired to "hear" the audio.
Apr 15 2010 at 7:55am Copy Link
Guy Good Thank you for the explaination Howard.

I haven't received my key/serial email either, so it must take awhile to generate them and pass it along to the buyer.
Apr 15 2010 at 8:49am Copy Link

Sean Geary I have an old TV so it does not have DLNA. I'll buy Mezzmo today as it's such a greal deal. I want really to watch my downloaded movies in my lounge room and not stare at my PC screen! What do you recommend for me to buy to stream to my (non-DLNA) TV?
Apr 15 2010 at 10:50am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Daniel,

We're mid-way though subtitle support now. Mezzmo is fully Unicode so it handles European/Asian characters well. We test this regularly. We'll make sure subtitles are the same.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 15 2010 at 10:52am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Sean,

Good question - one that we often get asked.

For a low-cost solution, you can't go wrong with a WD TV Live. It's less than $100 and works really well. Good format support.

If you have kids or want a few extras, then I'd recommend the PS3. It's got a great user experience for DLNA and they're constantly improving it. With a PS3 you will also get a Blu-ray player and, of course, a great games console for the kids. There's some great deal on PS3s.

Either choice is great, plus there's plenty more to choose from. If you are still having trouble choosing, drop us an email at and we can help futther.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 15 2010 at 11:00am Copy Link
Guy Good I still haven't received my serial number information and it's been a few hours, so I emailed the support with my order data.

I'll second the WD TV Live recommendation. It's a nice set-top box at a reasonable price.

May I suggest taking a look at XBMC if you want to see the software in action. When you run XBMC, it has the ability to access uPNP servers. Someone told me about it when I started using PlayOn Digital Media Server and Twonky Media Manager.
The video selection allows you to Add Sources. Choose the uPNP Servers and it will list any it detects. At that point, choose Meezmo and add it. This is a way to play with the software before hooking it up to a DLNA device.
Apr 15 2010 at 11:48am Copy Link
Guy Good I should have mentioned XBMC is free. It doesn't compete with this product. It acts like a WD Live TV, PS3 type device on a PC.
Apr 15 2010 at 11:50am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Guy,

That's a good tip about XMBC.

You're right - Mezzmo is a DLNA media server and it streams to DLNA/UPnP clients like XMBC, PS3, Xbox 360, Sony Bravia TVs, Panasnic Viera TVs, etc.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 15 2010 at 12:08pm Copy Link
Alex M I'm confused here. I have over 100 DivX videos. I know my TV does not play them. WiIl Mezzmo fix that so I can play them?

(Please hurry - only 4 hours to go!)
Apr 15 2010 at 12:54pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Alex,

If your TV does not support the DivX video format, then Mezzmo will automatically transcode your files to a format that is does support - for example, MPEG-2. If you have any troubles with Mezzmo streaming your files to your TV, just contact us at and we'll help you.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 15 2010 at 1:00pm Copy Link
Alex M Awesome. Thank you, Paul.
Apr 15 2010 at 1:17pm Copy Link
Guy Good To Alex M (Visitor)

In case the streaming option doesn't work well on your TV, I can suggest an alternative.

I bought a Philips DVD Player DVP5992 at Costco a year or two ago and it came with a USB port. The player has DivX support as well as Windows Media and a few others I can't recall. It is not as elegant as using an application like Mezzmo which transcodes to other formats, but it's an option you might be interested in knowing about. I believe I paid $39.99 on sale. I think it normally ran about $50 US.

If I want to play a video format the player doesn't support, I convert it to DivX using a freeware program called FormatFactory.
It is time consuming, so the Mezzno transcoding is much slicker.

Hope This Helps
Apr 15 2010 at 3:35pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Guy,

Thanks for the alternative suggestion. It will certainly work and is cost effective - but, dare I say it, using a DVD player and a USB stick is pretty "old-school" nowadays. DLNA in the home removes all these extra steps of burning DVDs, or transferring files to USB sticks, or converting files. With Mezzmo, it just works - nothing else to do.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 15 2010 at 3:49pm Copy Link
Guy Good To Paul Schumann (Conceiva Pty Ltd Developer)

I suggested that alternative in case Alex M didn't have a DLNA ready TV or other device at the current time. Currently I have a WD Live TV set-top box and bought Mezzmo to make media access easier. The DVD player was how I did it before buying the WD Live TV. If I wanted to play a non DivX file, it was necessary to run it thru a freeware converter program.
Apr 15 2010 at 4:22pm Copy Link
Rick Truell I don't know anything about streaming video and I doubt I'll get an answer in time to be of use this time around, but I thought I'd ask anyway. What about things that, in the days of VCR's and DVR's, would be considered "transport controls"...rewind, fast forward and, especially, pause, something that would be particularly needed with streaming video when the !@#$ phone rings :-) Is any of this possible with streaming video?
Apr 15 2010 at 4:28pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Guy,

Fully understand. Many people used to play their downloaded movies on their TVs like the way you used to. Its great that DLNA has improved on this. Thanks again for sharing your experience!
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 15 2010 at 5:05pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Rick,

All the normal remote control actions can still be done with streaming video - i.e. pause, rewind, fast forward, stop, etc. So it acts just like your traditional VCR, DVR, etc. It's really easy to learn, since the remote controls for DLNA devices are so similar to the one's you're used to. For example, if you are watching a (streaming) movie from Mezzmo on your TV, you can pause it at any time and come back later and play from where you left off.

Thanks for your response regarding the serial/key email. I still have yet to receive the email nor have I received a response from .

Any assistance would be appreciated.
Apr 16 2010 at 4:46am Copy Link
Rick Truell Hi, Paul. Sorry for taking so long to reply, but it's been a little hectic lately.

Thanks for the info. Turns out my new-ish (1.5 year old) LG LCD TV and Blu-Ray player are both pre-DLNA. Fortunately, I can get the WD TV Live locally (I live in Canada) and at a decent price ($130 CDN), so I'll be picking one up in the next day or two. Like a couple of the others, I too used to burn TV shows & movies to DVD-RW's and play them on a DVD player...but I watch so much TV that I tend to wear out DVD-RW's, and even DVD players, quite quickly. I've been watching on my computer lately, but the WD unit will allow me to get back to my big, widescreen TV. I'm glad that Mezzmo came up on Bits du Jour, as it got me a solution to my "problem"...even though the solution ended up sending me in a direction other than Mezzmo :-( Sorry about that!

Robert van Kampen Hello fellow Mezzmo users,
My first question is a simple one, with a Samsung LED TV wich preset device profile should i select.?
The only one i can select is Samsung LA ( havn't got a clue what that is )
And is there an estimate when the support for sub's will arrive.?
Thanks for the info,,
May 10 2010 at 1:56am Copy Link
Howard Beard @Robert -- Unfortunately, I use Mezzmo primarily to stream to my DNLA devices so I am unable to offer any insight into your profile issue.
May 11 2010 at 12:50am Copy Link
Robert van kampen Thanks Howard,

i know the right one now, it should be the Samsung LA, customer support told me allready.
There is only the problem of converting to my TV, the server is visable in my media screen but when i try to stream a MKV file its a no go or a few seconds, and then a format not supported.
This could be something with the lacking of Sub support.?
You know there are a zilion formats and even more codecs around,
and even subs come in more than 5 type's (that i know of.)
And i thought he list of supported formats and codecs on my Samsung was big  Pffff.
May 11 2010 at 5:26am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Robert,

The device profile you should select is Samsung LA (as you have done).

With regards the MKV not playing properly on your Samsung TV, please contact our customer support team and they will work out the problem.  I know we are fine-tuning the Samsung device profile right at the moment, so you may be able to get a beta version of it to get you up and running.

With regards subtitles, it is one of the new features of the next major version of Mezzmo.  We're midway in development now and you will certainly see full subtitle support in Mezzmo soon.  This major version will be a free upgrade to all register users.

So can it play itunes music from the standard itunes music library are not? Would be great if it did. I do not wish to place another itunes account on the server.

DH007 Highly recommended. Being a simple PC user and not geek, I was able to have it working with Western Digital TV HD Player, smoothly and without any problems. Even my wife is able now to turn Mezzmo on and off as she needs.

anthonyraynor? I used it with my DirecTv receiver for fun and was a little concerned. Music, photo and low quality video did well, but it basically choked on any high def files. When scanning I was reaching greater than 90% CPU use, 256MB of RAM on a quad core system with 8GB of RAM. I may have to think about this one even at the discount. It is feature laden, but resource intense. You may get better results with PC use, so please use the trial.
Dec 7 2010 at 2:54pm Copy Link
Garret Peters Excellent software. My machine was a P4 HT box and it seemed to transcode an m2ts file I made from a bluray pretty well. the cpu was at 60-80% most of the time. I also found it easier if you set the device up in mezzmo to try reading the file instead of using the transcode feature. Had to change it for my Bravia tv and now it just streams it right to it no jumps or jitters. best part is, without it transcoding the cpu usage is way lower. my trial expires in 7 days. I'll be stopping here on the 11th to get the deal on Mezzmo- my whole family loves this . ps3 plays everything in one room and the bravia tv takes care of the other living room. Now to get a network media solution for my other rooms!

Paul Schumann Hi T Raynor,

We are constantly working on improving Mezzmo's performance and device support. We have an updated device profile for the DirecTV that will deliver high-def videos to the unit better than the currently released version. Please send a message to support [at] conceiva [dot] com to get a copy of it if you'd like to try it.

When adding files to Mezzmo you will see CPU usage increase, because we need to process the files, get media tags, create thumbnails, etc... After the files have been added and processed, and also while streaming, the CPU usage should not be that high.

Dec 10 2010 at 4:37pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Michael,

You can stream from one PC to another PC. We get many requests about this. All you need is a DLNA media player program on the computer you want to stream to. Windows Media Player is a DLNA media player, so you can install Mezzmo on one PC and use it to stream to Windows Media Player on your other PC (assuming both PCs are connected to your home network). If you have any troubles, contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com, and we'll help you out.

Stephane M Hello,

I do have any DLNA devices for now but I was wondering if
we can use Mezzmo just to share media files across a home network to play music, videos and so on from different home computers?

If so, what do we need to access and play media from the Mezzmo server from the different network computers?

Dec 11 2010 at 6:20am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Louis,

Mezzmo's media server runs as a Windows service on your computer. In order to install & register it as a Windows service, you must enter your Windows username and password. That's the only reason for it.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Dec 11 2010 at 8:22am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Stephane,

You can install Mezzmo on one computer and stream all your videos, music and photos to other computers on your home network. These computers can use WIndows Media Player to view the videos, music and photos. windows Media Player will detect Mezzmo and you can then browse the folders, playlists in Mezzmo. If you are looking for a cheap DLNA device, then there are plenty to choose from - for example the WD TV Live is around $90 and they are a great device, or you could get an Xbox 360, PS3 or one of the many new TVs that have DLNA built-in.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Dec 11 2010 at 8:29am Copy Link
Stephane M Thank you Paul!

Even though I do not have DLNA devices and I do not have too much time to test it, I think I will take a chance and buy it anyway.
Dec 11 2010 at 8:47am Copy Link
Louis H Ok.

I admit that I am really way behind the times with understanding DLNA.

I've attempted to utilize such features in the past with little success and so when initially seeking to set Mezzmo up (and having had a rather nasty problem with a password getting hacked about a month ago) my immediate reaction was - forget it!

So I calmed down. Installed Mezzmo. Entered my info. And lo and behold I turned on my WD TV Live Plus HD and there it was - configured without any "esoteric" tinkering needed on my end.

I still don't have much of a clue as to how to proceed from here, but I've decided to purchase Mezzmo anyway as it saves having to keep changing out my USB drives on my WD TV Live Plus HD. And that feature alone is worth $15. So anything else I can eventually figure out will be a plus.
Dec 11 2010 at 2:39pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Louis,

Great to hear you are up and running. You should be able to stream all your movies, music and photos using Mezzmo to your WD TV Live Plus HD. First thing to do is to add all your media files on your computer or other drives into Mezzmo, so that playlists and folders can be created for easy navigation. Then, you can use your WD TV Live Plus HD to connect to Mezzmo and watch/listen to any of these media files on your TV. If you have any questions or problems about how to use Mezzmo, then just contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll help out.

Other than the benefit of not having to run java all the time for PMS, what does Mezzo offer over the free alternative?

Thank you!
May 26 2011 at 6:00pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Carl,

One of the standout features that Mezzmo users really like is to create their own playlists so that they can organize all their collection of files in the way that they like. Other features that go beyond other DLNA servers are parental control, multiple DLNA device support, external subtitle support, on-the-fly transcoding, support for large collections of media files (500K or more) and support for all the popular DLNA devices available today.

Probably the best thing to do is to download the 15-day trial now and give it a quick go to see if you like it. It is fully featured. Hope you like it!

May 26 2011 at 6:56pm Copy Link
carl thorpe Installed the trial, and immediately had issues with excessive CPU usage. Switched the device profile to Playstation 3 instead of Playstation 3 (compatible) which it had defaulted to, and suddenly everything is running smoothly. Why did it default to the compatible version?

I've already found a couple of videos that didn't work through pms that work through mezzmo.

A little more playing and I'll likely be purchasing.
May 26 2011 at 7:03pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi P. Illikainen,

Mezzmo supports accessing files on NAS drives. Many of our Mezzmo users have their collections of videos, music and photos on NAS drives, and Mezzmo is able to access them and stream them to DLNA devices. If you can access the files stored on your NAS from the PC that has Mezzmo installed, then Mezzmo will also be able to access and stream them.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - May 26 2011 at 7:06pm Copy Link
P. Illikainen I get your point but is there plan to maKe version what instals directly in Linux in NAS so we dont need PC there anymore?
May 26 2011 at 7:13pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Carl,

Mezzmo includes a few device profile for the PS3 and they perform a little differently. This is one of the nice features of Mezzmo - you can change device profiles to match your media files, your computer's performance and your home network (wired, wireless). "Playstation 3 (compatible)" will transcode files that will always play on your PS3, but it requires more CPU as it is transcoding files conservatively to make sure they play fine on your PS3. "Playstation 3" is better performing (requires less transcoding & CPU).
Conceiva Pty Ltd - May 26 2011 at 7:17pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi P. Illikainen,

Sorry, no - there are no plans for a Linux version of Mezzmo. Installing directly on a NAS may sound good, but in practice most NAS drives lack the CPU & RAM to transcode on-the-fly and stream HD video files to DLNA devices on your home network.

RichU Pardon my ignorance, but does Mezzmo work with TIVO? If so, how?
May 27 2011 at 1:52am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Richard,

Good question. Mezzmo streams media files to devices that have DLNA inside them - like Sony Bravia TVs, Panasonic Viera TVs, Samsung TVs, LG TVs, Philips TVs, Toshiba Regza TVs, Sharp Aquos TVs, Xbox 360, PS3 and many, many more. All you have to do is connect your DLNA device to your home network, install Mezzmo on your computer and Mezzmo can stream any movie, TV show, music or photos that are saved on your computer's harddisk. Unfortunately, TIVO does not support DLNA, so you cannot use Mezzmo with it - but if you have a modern LCD TV, it may have DLNA inside it and you can stream with Mezzmo directy to it.

Dennis P Our Xbox 360 must be at least 4 or 5 years old. Is it certain that our older Xbox 360 is DLNA capable?

Also we have LG Plasma TVs from last year or two. These probably compatible?
May 27 2011 at 3:01am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Dennis P,

Your Xbox 360 is DLNA compatible and Mezzmo streams video, music and photos to it from your computer.

You will have to check your LG TVs. Typically on your TV's remote control, there will be buttons to access network or servers. Also, there will be an ethernet port at the back of the TV where you connect your LAN cable to your home network. If you have that, then it is probable your TV has DLNA. Or, just do a quick google of your LG model and the DLNA keyword - like "LG 42LD560 DLNA". that will tell you pretty quickly.

May 27 2011 at 3:53am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Richard,

Yes. When you puchase a copy of Mezzmo, your Mezzmo license lets install and run Mezzmo on one computer and then you can use Mezzmo to access any file on your home network. The files may be on your computer, your wife's computer, an external NAS drive, etc. You can then stream files using Mezzmo these to your DLNA device (e.g. your TV).

Don Walker Some questions. I realize that Mezzmo needs to have its own library.

1. Will it end up duplicating media info like album artwork, song lyrics, album, artist, genre, title, ratings, etc. if they are already available in another library system?

2. Does Mezzmo have any way of picking up selections from other organizers. For example, I use face recognition in Picasa to sort my photos. Could I stream an album for a particular person (face)? I would like to be able to do this from my PC, not by uploading to the Picasa/Google web site.

Techtoysavvy Dennis, be careful when checking DLNA compatibility. For example, Mezzmo made the statement that "Panasonic Viera TVs" support DLNA. This is a true statement. However, my Panasonic Viera TV does not support DLNA. There is no contradiction here. Both statements are factually correct!

OK .. the answer is "it depends on the geography". US models do not support DLNA while European models do support DLNA.

DLNA compatibility is getting better but it is not yet for the faint of heart. I have stayed away from the Samsung firmware because I have heard that it is very buggy. This is generally true for some of the media players based on SOC chipsets from Realtek, Sigma and others. They run some flavor of Linux and all have various limitations and gotchas. These are in many areas and affect many features, not just DLNA.

As long as you like debugging .....
The good news is most features and most music and photos works out of the box. Some features, especially video require transcoding and this is where it gets tricky.
May 27 2011 at 10:45am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Don,

Great questions. Mezzmo does has its own library and that includes album, artist, title, genre, covertart/artwork, media information and more. This information is obtained from metadata inside the files themselves, or from external files like mymovies.xml, series.xml, etc. or or input manually by the user, Mezzmo can also import from iTunes, import external playlists and get artwork from the internet.

If you can export your favorite albums/playlists as external playlist files (.PLS, .M3U, etc.) , then Mezzmo can link to them directly. Any change to your external playlist file will also update Mezzmo.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - May 27 2011 at 10:46am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Tylicia,

DLNA is available to anyone in the world, and DLNA devices are sold all around the world. We have many Canadian users! If you have a modern LCD TV or Blu-ray player, check the manual and see if it mentions DLNA or do a quick google for your TVs model with the keyword "DLNA" - for example "LG 42LD560 DLNA". If you have a PS3 or Xbox 360, then you already have DLNA and can stream video, music and photos to your TV.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - May 27 2011 at 10:53am Copy Link
Techtoysavvy I bought Mezzmo along with DownloadStudio. The real value in this software is that Conceiva can test all the different implementations of DLNA and make individuals profiles for each device.

But ..... it is frustratating for Conceiva that they need mutiple profiles for the same or similar devices. It is frustrating for users that have to differentiate between "Playstation 3 (compatible)" and "Playstation 3". The difference seems obvious to me :).

I don't worry, I consider all software like this an exercise in trial and error. I have multiple DLNA servers and player. They all have issues.

For example, (this is not the fault of the server software), my Asus Oplay player graciously sorts playlists and album tracks into alphabetical order without asking. It's not a bug its a feature. This annoys people like me that want to listen to albums or playlists in a specific order. There are lots and lots of these things. Even when it works it never quite works if you know what I mean.

Paul Schumann Hi Prasad,

Thanks for your comments. You are right - some TV models have DLNA and some do not. So you should check. We are finding most new models of TVs are now including DLNA, except for the bottom-end models.

With regards Samsung TVs, I will have to disagree. They provide great DLNA support and their firmware is excellent. We have most Samsung TV models at Conceiva for testing, and I cannot fault them too much.

We also have tested Mezzmo with other manufacturers such as Sony, Panasonic, LG, Sharp, Toshiba, Philips, Samsung, WD, Seagate, etc. and they all work well. On our web site, you will see a full list of devices that we have tested -

I think you will find that after installing Mezzmo, you will be up and running within minutes. Very few people have to "debug" as you say.

Paul Schumann Hi W. Pattison,

Your Sony Blu-ray player certainly does have DLNA and Mezzmo works really well with it. Most Blu-ray players have DLNA insdie them - an easy way to check is if it has an ethernet port (LAN port) at the back of it.

Techtoysavvy Yeah, I have an old 2010 G25 Viera with crappy old Viera Cast. It was certainly not the bottom end but I live in the US and there is no DLNA support for 2010 Viera models afaik. The new 2011 models do support DLNA and the new Viera Connect. Be careful, some people think their 2010 Panasonic Viera is a new model:) I am not sure why but European models of my TV have DLNA support. It does not sound like Panasonic will provide DLNA support through a firmware upgrade.

As far as the Samsung comment I meant their Bluray players. I have not tried their new TVs. They may have fixed the Bluray software by now but last year people on forums called the software a cruel joke.

When you test, do you test large libraries? 100 items, 1000 items, 10000 items or 100000 items? Any limitations on library size?
May 27 2011 at 1:22pm Copy Link

Rick Truell Paul: "Most Blu-ray players have DLNA insdie them - an easy way to check is if it has an ethernet port (LAN port) at the back of it."

An ethernet port on a Blu-ray player can not be taken as a sign of DLNA compatibility. Blu-ray players primarily use the ethernet port for Internet connectivity for downloading software/firmware updates and for downloading extra content for Blu-ray movies (BD-Live). Thus, nearly every Blu-ray player ever made has an ethernet port on it, even the ones made before DLNA became popular.

The *only* way to be sure whether a player has DLNA is to check for it specifically...these days, the box usually indicates if it has DLNA and if it doesn't, the product page on the manufacturer's website usually does. As you suggested elsewhere, Google is everone's friend :-)

Paul Schumann Hi Peter B, You just need to connect your computer and your DLNA device (in your case, your PS3) to your home network and that's it. Your home network can use wired ethernet LAN cable or wireless. The best is ethernet LAN cable since it is faster and has higher bandwidth - which is useful for streaming HD video.

Mezzmo streams external subtitle files (SRT/SUB/SMI) to DLNA devices in the current version. So, depending on your DLNA device, you should be good to go. We are also developing a new subtitle solution in Mezzmo for DLNA devices that do not accept external subtitle files.

J S I bought this program the last time You offered it here (end of May 2011) on Bitsdujour, but i haven't installed it yet as I wont have a DLNA equipped Topfield Masterpiece until Christmas 2011:

Q1. Does your company plan to go right thru to v2.9.xx or are you already planning version 3 (because my 12 months minor updates is already 12 way through and I'm not likely to install the program until early in 2012)?

Q2. Do you provide a Changelog so I can see if it's worth installing the product update or the original file i downloaded at time of purchase?
Nov 14 2011 at 5:43pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi J S, We will be releasing v2.5 in the next few weeks and that has several new features included (pre-transcoding & online video metadata retrieval to name a few). That will a free upgrade for all registered users. After that, we will be concentrating on v3.0 which will contain many new features that we are developing now. That will also be a free upgrade for all registered users.

We do have a changelog for each Mezzmo version - see

You should definitely download and install the latest version (v2.4.5). It has many bug fixes and more device support as compared to May 2011.

Luke A. Does Mezzmo work with tablets like my iPad 2?
Nov 19 2011 at 1:45am Copy Link
Bits Visitor @ Paul Schumann,

Thanks for the reply.

I did run the demo and was very pleased. This price - WITH upgrades - is a bargain. I did go ahead and buy it.

I should add, for those asking about compatibility with TVs and devices, that this works quite nicely with a DirecTV receiver box (to use after setting it up: with the DirecTV remote, select MENU, then select "Music, Photos, and More"...and you'll find your stuff there).

Thanks again.

Paul Schumann Hi Luke, Mezzmo does work with iPad and iPad 2 (and many other tablets). For your iPad 2, you will need to download and install DLNA app onto your iPad. Mezzmo has been tested with the following iPad apps - 8player, BuzzPlayer , Media Link Player Lite, media:connect, Olimsoft AirPlayer and PlugPlayer. Contact us if you have any problems.

Fletch Simply love using this product with my Samsung TV. So much better than the Samsung client. The DLNA built into the TV is so much easier to use when paired with the Mezzmo client.

Works great with my Google TV box too.

Great support in the forums.

James Evans I don't know if my Samsung HDTV is DNLA. Can you tell me if Mezzmo will connect to a Samsung 58" Class (58.0" Diag.) 8000 Series 3D 1080p Plasma HDTV (2010 model), using network of course.
Apr 25 2012 at 1:25pm Copy Link
Fletch The Samsung web site or manual will tell you for sure. Mine are mid-range 2008/2009 models. Most anything they made since then probably has DLNA. There may be some low end models that do not have it. A 3D set almost certainly has it.

Paul Schumann Hi Faisal,

There is no Android client for Mezzmo as yet. We have both Android and iOS controller apps on our development plans and hopefully these will be released sometime this year.

If you already have a DLNA controller app (Android, iOS, Windows, etc.), then (since Mezzmo is a DLNA/UPnP media server) you will be able to use your app push content to your devices from Mezzmo.

Nick Katz Will this work with my Roku? It's not listed on your web site, so I assume not, but I thought it's worth asking.

Apr 25 2012 at 6:02pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Nick,

Mezzmo is a UPnP/DLNA media server that streams to any UPnP or DLNA device in your home. Unfortunately Roku boxes are not UPnP or DLNA compliant (they seem to use some private protocols for media streaming) so Mezzmo will not work with your Roku. Sorry about that.

Yes - the WD TV LIve media players/hubs are all UPnP and DLNA compatible. We have many 1000's of WD TV Live owners streaming media with Mezzmo daily.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 26 2012 at 2:45pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Nick,

Do you own a PS3 or an Xbox360? You can stream media to them using Mezzmo. Or, you may have a smartphone (iOS or Android) or a tablet (iOS or Android). There are free apps that let you stream media to them using Mezzmo. Also, most modern TVs and Blu-ray players have UPnP or DLNA. So, you may still have some devices in your home after all :) If you are unsure, just ask & I'll confirm for you.

Nick Katz Paul, I do have an Android tablet, Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Maybe I'll get it for that. Do you know what Android app I'd need on the tablet to make it work or what I should search for in the market?
Apr 26 2012 at 2:59pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Nick,

We recommend using iMediaShare together with RockPlayer (both are free Android apps). RockPlayer supports quite a lot of media formats. In Mezzmo, we have a device profile "RockPlayer" that needs to be set for the player. Go to the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo to do this.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 26 2012 at 4:17pm Copy Link
Cheryl Rutherford I agree with RON. I purchased this some time ago and the ONLY problem I see it has is that is DOES NOT HAVE FAST FORWARD FEATURES. So, if you watch anything from your Mezzmo, you must watch the entire video or listen to the media in its entirety.

But, it is so much better than the Samsung's DLNA built-in feature, which I have tried to get working for 8 months now, since we bought the Samsung 3D TV and I just cannot get it to work properly.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT and I have tried them all.
Apr 27 2012 at 6:22am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for your kind words. With regards fast forward (FF), unfortunately Samsung TVs do not let you use the FF/REW buttons when streaming video. It's a Samsung firmware issue and not related to Mezzmo (all media servers have the same problem). As a workaround, you can use the skip buttons on your remote or the chapter button on your remote. If you have any questions about this, just email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com & we'll help out.

James Evans @ Ron, @Paul,
My habit is to trial new software inside Sandboxie until it appears to cause no harm to my system. So like a frustrated ninny I spent two hours trying to get Mezzmo to connect to the TV while sandboxed. Of course it wouldn't.

After doing a real install Mezzmo worked flawlessly and automatically recognized the Samsung TV and two Samsung BD players without my having to make or change any settings whatsoever. Mezzmo displays like an App on the TV and is easy to navigate to music. My wife really liked to see the photos on the big screen.

One suggestion: the photos initially display in approximately 4x3 format but using the zoom feature they fill the screen in 9x16. However, each succeeding photo reverts to the 4x3 display. It would be nice to be able to lock the display to 9x16 format for awesome slide shows.
Apr 28 2012 at 7:03am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi C G,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes - Mezzmo streams movies, music and photos to Android tablets and smartphones. We have many Xoom owners using Mezzmo daily. Mezzmo also streams to iPads and iPhones.

Conceiva Pty Ltd - Apr 28 2012 at 6:52pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi James,

Great that you are up and running now. With regards the 4:3 ratio for displaying photos, Mezzmo simply streams the photo to your TV and your TV's firmware displays it. Typically there's a setting to permanently set the zoom feature on your TV, but if it is always reverting back to 4:3, then that may be a quirk of Samsung's firmware. You're welcome to contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we can confirm this for you.

Cheryl Rutherford I am a Mezzmo user and I LOVE THIS SOFTWARE.

First, I want to say that whenever I needed support, the Mezzmo support team got back to me very quickly! AND, they always solved the problem the first time. Every time, it was something my PC did, but it was resolved quickly. All updates were free with it, as well. But, it runs so perfectly now, you may not get any ;-)

Second, this software has served me well! It is installed on my PC 4 rooms away. My Samsung 8000 (DLNA) is synched to my PC. I can browse whatever I have placed in my library (a PC-connected USB 3GB external drive) on the PC, to my TV. So, when I want to watch an old movie in my library that resides on the PC-connected drive, I can bring it up on my Samsung TV (BTW: Samsung and all other smart TVs will recognize the Mezzmo thru its smart feature on setup or at a later time). Mezzmo is a server that allows you to access anything from your PC (media) you have set up to stream.

I spent months over a year ago (I purchased this Nov. 2011) testing DLNA server software from other vendors. Finally, I found Mezzmo. It was not only simple to set up, it was beautifully designed and easy to understand for a newbie like me. I threw the other software away and bought Mezzmo here from BitsDuJour.

I just cannot say enough about this software!

NOTE: like all DLNA server-type software, when streaming media from a PC to your player, YOU CANNOT FAST FORWARD OR REWIND. As the good folks as Mezzmo told me, until the firmware is changed for this type of software, none of them support those features. SO, you have to watch the commercials and everything else that play during your streaming movie or media.

Chris Irving Hi! I currently stream movies, etc. from my 3 NAS drives direct to my smart TV as they appear fine in the DLNA list. The only problem is that the TV menu structure is difficult for my wife to navigate. Will Mezzmo solve this problem for her, and will I have to map network drives to stream them from the NAS drives through my PC? My TV is an LG. Will Mezzmo recognise it? Please copy your response to my email. Regards Chris
Oct 17 2012 at 3:53am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Chris,

Mezzmo will help in your situation. Instead of just having a folder structure of your NAS drives listed on your TV, you can also create your own playlists in Mezzmo that (for example) contain the movies, TV shows, music and photos that your wife may be interested in. So she could navigate those playlists on your TV to find her favorite content to play. You can also have folder structures if you like that. You don't have to map your network drives (but you can if you like). As long as they are accessible to your PC that has Mezzmo installed, then Mezzmo will be able to access them & stream them to your TV using their UNC path (e.g. \\MyNAS\movies\brave.mkv). Mezzmo streams well to LG TVs. Give it a try and let us know if you have any questions or problems.

Johno Hi,
is Mezzmo just as happy to stream simply over wifi as it is with DLNA ? I have an Asus O!Play AIR HDP-R3 which works great but it lacks a program like Messmo to make playlists etc on the pc to stream to it - I have been using it simply to watch movies & listen to music via wifi.

WIll Mezzmo work with my media player and allow me to make playlists to send/stream to it ?

Oct 18 2012 at 5:30am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi John,

Mezzmo streams to any devices in your home using either Ethernet cable, Wifi, HomePlug/Powerline, MOCA, etc. So whatever device is connected to you home network, Mezzmo will be able to find it and stream to it as long as it supports DLNA. Most modern TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones, tablets, home theaters & games consoles all include support for DLNA now.

Mezzmo will stream media files to your Asus O!Play media player. You can create yur own playlists in your Mezzmo library of all your videos, music and photos so that you can browse them on your O!Play and play them. Give it a try and see how you go. Any questions just ask.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Oct 18 2012 at 6:09am Copy Link
Johno Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting back to me.

I have had a look through my Asus's media players manual, and though it doesnt mention DLNA, it does say it is a UPnP device, and speaks about how that Windows Media Player 11 or higher can stream media music etc. to it.
I dont like or use Windows Media player, but would love it if Mezzmo was able to fulfill this role - can Mezzmo essentially do the same thing or probably better than WIndows Media Player ?
I think your response has partially answered this but I thought it might help in your information/response to me if you knew that the manual doesnt mention DLNA but does mention UPnP.
Oct 18 2012 at 6:35am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi John,

Good question. Mezzmo also supports UPnP devices so it will be fine to stream to your Asus. The DLNA guidelines essentially sit over the top of the UPnP standards, so for Mezzmo to support DLNA it must also support UPnP as well. Hope it clears it up for you.

Lito I installed the trial onto my main machine and just wanted to confirm something, Mezzmo does not work with embedded subtitles inside a .mkv file? Also what about .mkv files with multiple audio tracks. I gave it a try but I couldn't switch between audio tracks. The subtitles didn't show but it might be because the embedded subtitle format is SSA. Which I don't think is supported yet and is being worked for your v3 release IIRC.

If I buy this today am I eligible for a free upgrade to v3 mentioned in your forum? As it is at the moment I don't really need Mezzo but would be willing to get it now for the expected v3 features.
Oct 18 2012 at 8:34am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Lito,

If your DLNA device supports playing MKV files, then Mezzmo just streams the MKV file natively to your device. Then, it is up to your device to display the embedded subtitles or not. Some devices do support displaying embedded subtitles, some do not. In Mezzmo v3.0, we will have subtitling settings that let you control how subtitles are delivered to your device (embedded, external or 'burnt' into the video). Mezzmo v3.0 is due for release later this year and will be a free upgrade for all registered users - including those people that buy Mezzmo from today's BDJ offer.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Oct 18 2012 at 1:49pm Copy Link
Lito Thanks for the reply and sold :), I have a patriot box office and a PS3 but only tested with the patriot box office. It does support mkv files and embedded subs and multi audio tracks, but it didn't find them in the mezzmo streamed data.

I'd rather have subtitles "burned" onto the transcode since the patriot box office doesn't respect subtitle location data and on some mkv files that makes things a mess.

Eagerly waiting for v3 :).

Paul Schumann Hi Lito,

Hope you enjoy streaming with Mezzmo. All registered users will be notified when Mezzmo v3.0 becomes available later this year.

Brad Hi Paul,

This is Brad, I was the person who tried to purchase Download Studio on Bits last week and could not make it happen using PayPal. Now I cannot make this purchase for Mezzmo. This time I have tried to make this sale using two different credit cards and bypassing PayPal all together. I have attempted the transactions in two different browsers, and submitted the orders to different email address for each order. Somehow I am still being declined by eSellerate.

I am unable to work on this tonight to try and resolve this, as I have commitments for the rest of the evening. I will contact you tomorrow via email and try and get this resolved, the responses from eSellerate have been quite unsatisfactory. I am just baffled eSellerate could not tell me what was happening last week and they did not respond back to me after I requested a follow up to see what their investigation uncovered if any regarding the purchase failures. Perhaps by working directly with your support department I can determine what is going on. This purchase I really would like to make happen. I am not upset just baffled as to what’s happening.

I have cleared my cache in my browsers prior to attempting the purchases. I have not had any other issues this week making e-commerce purchases using this same computer.

I am assuming you are not having issues with others attempting to purchase Mezzmo so it’s either something on my end or between eSellerate and me.

Thanks, Brad

Paul Schumann Hi Brad,

We have not had any other person with order problems today or in the past week. Please contact me via email (sales [at] conceiva [dot] com) with your details such as email addresses used, error messages or screenshot when purchasing error occurs, etc. I will contact eSellerate directly. If you cannot process your order today, then we'll look after you so you get the appropriate discount. Sorry for the frustrating experience - it is certainly not normal.

Software Babe I purchased this over a year ago and I must tell you that it is the best investment I have made for my video/music collection and my smart Samsung 42" TV. I have a library of over 500 movies from the 40's and 50's that I have stored on several external network drives. Mezzmo allows me to connect them to my TV, by genre. Once installed, my TV automatically (because the TV is networked) connects to the Mezzmo software.

After installing the app on your PC, you go into Mezzmo and add the drives containing your video or music, naming them as you go. Mezzmo will do the rest. It is so easy.

I will guarantee it that you will simply LOVE this software! I believe the app is worth so much more than they are selling it for ;-))

NO, I do not work for Mezzmo. I just want to share my experience and testimony for this great app. GOOD WORK MEZZMO, FOR SOFTWARE WELL DONE!

J Hello,

Like your DownloadStudio, there hasn't been an update in Mezzmo (version since 2014.

Are you still developing Mezzmo?

I see that version 5.x is free for those that purchase today.

When do you plan on releasing version 5?

And what's new for version 5?

Thank you.

J: Yes, we are actively developing Mezzmo and, as mentioned above, Mezzmo v5.0, is about to be released, We're in Beta testing now and all should be completed in the next 3-4 weeks. I suggest you head over to our forum to see what's news in this major new version. PortablesFan The "Fine Print" says there are lifetime updates included. One of the old comments says major version updates are decided on a case-by-case version.
Which is it really?

Also, why might a private user need/want more than one license/installation of Mezzmo? I see one of the recent comments mentioned buying a second license...

Aug 2 2016 at 1:46pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Software Babe,

When you go to checkout, you should see the coupon amount is -$20.97, which means the final amount ($29.95 - $20.97) is $8.98.

Paul Schumann Hi Don User,

Yes - Mezzmo works great with Windows 10 64-bit.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Aug 2 2016 at 4:49pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi PortablesFan,

For Mezzmo v5.0 and onwards, we have changed our upgrade policy to a lifetime updates policy.

The reason to have multiple licenses is if you have multiple locations (e.g your house + holiday house, or a family member's house). This lets you run multiple Mezzmo servers to stream media from different locations.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Aug 2 2016 at 4:52pm Copy Link
PortablesFan I had gotten one of your free licenses back in January of 2015, but have not tried it (or any competing product) due to not needing to use a streaming software quite yet.

While researching today, I discovered that the 2015 freebie promotion was an accident, a leak of an internal coupon code. But the company honored all of those free LIFETIME licenses anyway...

I'm impressed with this company for that; classy! Just bought your combo pack (Mezzmo + your Downloader) to show support, even though I had a free Mezzmo license.

Paul Schumann Hi PortablesFan,

Thanks for your kind words & show of support. Much appreciated!

When you start trying media streaming in your home, just email us if you have any questions or problems & we'll get you up and running.

John User I bought a lifetime license for Mezzmo Pro about two years ago and have not had any problems using the software or updating to newer versions. To be honest, I have since purchased a lifetime Plex license and find myself using that more.

But, make no mistake about it, Mezzmo does the job and costs much less than Plex. I am sure there are things Mezzmo does better and the same for Plex. I will say this about Mezzmo - while it doesn't seem to have all the bells and whistles and be as sophisticated as Plex, it never fails, while often I find myself running to my PC to find out why Plex crashed or would not stream my media.

If you want outstanding media-streaming software that you can depend on 100% of the time go with Mezzmo Pro. I used to use a mostly defunct program called Kooraroo and also tried Kodi, but in my view Mezzmo is the best.
Aug 3 2016 at 7:28am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Thank you for your kind words, John User! Regarding Mezzmo vs. Plex, have you tried our new Mezzmo v5.0? We released it a few months ago (after 12+ months development!) and It has a ton of new features that either match Plex or surpass it in many ways. It may be a good time to try it again :)

John User Last year I commented on Mezzmo when it was offered here. My review stands in that Mezzmo is a very reliable, easy to use program that compares favorably with the popular Plex and at a fraction of the cost. I think Plex still has more features and seems to be adding more on a regular basis. However, don't sell Mezzmo short as there have been significant improvements and added features to this version of Mezzmo Pro.

Truth be told, I use both Mezzmo and Plex. There is some overlap on features and having these two servers running at the same time is a bit of a drain on resources, but I view them as complementary programs now. I particularly like the way Mezzmo Pro works with my Roku, Android phone and how it improves on Kodi with its interface.

Do yourself a favor and just download the trial version and give it a go. At the asking special price this program is well worth it IMO.

One question for Paul, I have always wondered: How did you come up with the name MEZZMO?

Keep up the good work on this program!

Richard User I am always interested in streaming media products, especially for streaming music (mostly mp3 files), that let you play from your library on remote devices both at home and away from home. With over 300,000 mp3 files on my hard drive, the biggest problem I run into with other products is (1) the speed at which it will display content, and even more importantly (2) the ability to list the content I have. A lot of products have an arbitrary cut-off of the number of items they will show or search. So for example, if I want to browse artists beginning with "C", I can probably scroll to the Cars, but the list will stop well before I get to the Cure. So my question is, how well does Mezzmo handle a library of this size?
Oct 13 2017 at 8:22am Copy Link
Paul Schumann @John User: Thanks for your kind words. The name Mezzmo has no special meaning - we just liked it :)
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Oct 13 2017 at 4:01pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann @Richard User: Mezzmo does really well with large libraries of media files. We regularly test it with over 750K files. The nice thing you can do is categorize your media files using any attribute of the media file - for example, album, artist, track, year, genre, etc. You can freely create your own structure and playlists as you like. This helps you navigate your library the way you like. I suggest trying Mezzmo and emailing us at if you have any configuration questions so we can help you have your library as you like.

Wearsie Jackson Having same issue as Kiwidave - Price in cart shows $20.97 :( - deal is still active for 2 hrs 22 min
Oct 13 2017 at 9:37pm Copy Link
Richard User @Kiwidave and Wearsie: I just bought the Pro version from the BDJ promo, no problem, and at the advertised price. When you click the BDJ "Buy" button, it shows the $29.95 price and a coupon amount of $20.97. Then you click to continue and you put in your name and address info. When you click Next after that, it shows a cart with Mezzmo Pro at $29.95, less $20.97, with a Grand Total of $8.98. Clicking Next again takes you to the form where you fill in your payment info. Only after that is your purchase complete. So if something doesn't look right, you can bail on the transaction after you see the final price but before you put in your Form of Payment info. I did all this with about 2 hours left in the promotion. (Now I see the promotion has been extended another day.)

The license info comes in your e-mail shortly thereafter. Hope this helps.

Colin McAllister I saw this offer, then went to your website to get more info and to download the Mezzmo Pro trial. I found "Mezzmo for Roku on Android" and installed the 7-day trial app on my phone (Android V7).

I have a Roku Streaming Stick. It is plugged in and working (I can watch Netflix and many streaming channels). When I selected "device" in Mezzmo on the app however, my Roku isn't listed. I tried refreshing to detect devices and the app finds all my Google stuff, but not the Roku! I checked the wireless and Ruko reports all's fine. Both phone and Roku are on the same network. I changed the both to another network, but again without luck.

I want to stream from *both* PC (Win10) and my Android phone, but don't want to buy software that isn't going to work for my system. Any idea why Mezzmo isn't seeing my Roku stick? Thanks.
Mar 28 2018 at 12:28pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Colin, The usual reason is that your computer's firewall is blocking Mezzmo server from contacting your Roku streaming stick. styrobrain @Conceiva, how do I transfer the registration from one computer to another?

Here's my use case. My media collection resides on a mobile disk. It travels with me, and I have a number of computers I occasionally plug it into. Nobody else uses any of these computers, none of them is running when I don't sit in front of them. I'd want to use Mezzmo Pro on three or more of these computers, but my license covers only two of them. So I'd have to move registrations around.

I did not find any clue in the documentation or the software itself.

(Which I bought in an instant... I bought DownloadStudio a while ago, in search for a DownThemAll replacement, and it keeps surprising me pleasantly with how much more I got than I was looking for.)

Yosh M when you write "you can also use Mezzmo to stream video, music and photos to any web browser inside your home or outside your home!" do I understand correctly that I can access my mezzmo server's content with a browser from anywhere in the world? What about form my Android phone?
Nov 13 2018 at 1:39pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann HI styrobrain, In your case I would suggest buying a license for each computer that will be running Mezzmo Pro. This will cover you for all your computers and our licensing terms.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Nov 13 2018 at 2:23pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Yosh M, Yes - you can access / stream your photos, music and videos from your Mezzmo server in your home using a web browser anywhere in the world. styrobrain @Paul Schumann, I may even do that at this price :-) Either way, I'd like to see my question answered. "The Fine Print" states "Transfer of a license to another owned computer is allowed." How does one do that? I managed to register Mezzmo Pro. How would I unregister it if I need the license someplace else?
Nov 13 2018 at 2:41pm Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi stryobrain, If you need to transfer your Mezzmo license from one computer to another computer, then you need to uninstall Mezzmo Pro from the old computer and then install it on the new computer. Once installed, then you can register it using the Mezzmo registration details that you received when you purchased Mezzmo Pro. If you cannot locate your Mezzmo registration details, email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we will find them for you.
Conceiva Pty Ltd - Nov 13 2018 at 2:46pm Copy Link
styrobrain @Paul Schumann, I already feel how license transfer being allowed by license, but made inconvenient by implementation indeed incentivises buying additional licenses :-)

I'll obsesrve how Mezzmo Pro holds up against the Plexes and MediaMonkeys and UMSes around here within the boundaries of the license I bought today, and if it does well, buy a couple more licenses next time.

But, since Christmas is close and Santa might be listening: a "deregister" button would be a nice thing to have.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification. Oh, and for this great offer!

Yosh M @Paul Thanks for the explanation. I see on the Android store there is a Mezzmo app, also. Is that included in the license for the Mezzmo server or does it need to be purchased separately? does it offer any advantage over simply using the browser interface?
Nov 14 2018 at 2:23am Copy Link
John User I just want to put in a good word for Mezzmo which I have been using since 2014 - my license is still good without having to pay anything else for the updated Pro Version.

Yes, I also use Plex because it has so many different features and is constantly adding new ones. However, I use Mezzmo because when it comes to streaming media to my devices it is more simple to set up and use than Plex. Also, Plex has occasional hiccups where my media server is magically disconnected or something else happens to mess up the flow of what I am streaming. I've never had this happen with Mezzmo - it is very dependable.

You really can't beat the price (especially the price offered today) for what it does. It is one of the best software programs I have ever purchased.

PS. Since 2014 I have gone through at least 5 computers. I have followed the one license, one computer rule and never had an issue with deleting it from my old computer and installing/registering on the new one.
Nov 14 2018 at 8:06am Copy Link
Paul Schumann Hi Yosh M, Our Mezzmo Android app is not included when you purchase Mezzmo Pro. You can try / buy our Android app by searching for Mezzmo in the Google Play store. If you have an Android device (smartphone, tablet, TV, etc.), then we recommend our Android app as it has a bunch of very handy features including (i) you can use it like a remote control to browse media on your Mezzmo server form your PC and play/pause/FF/rew it on TV, home theater, etc. (ii) it has better support for video formats and subtitles (iii) it has its own media server so you can stream photos, videos and music stored on your Android device.

Brian W On the purchase page, you are offering a DownloadStudio at a discount. When was this product last updated? Is it still being updated? It's a lifetime license for this version or ? The FAQ for "Youtube, Google Video & Other Flash Video Downloading Problems" states:

"Q: DownloadStudio never finds any videos for me. Why?"
"A: DownloadStudio requires that the latest version of Flash is installed into Internet Explorer - even if you use another web browser such as Firefox, Flock or Google Chrome."

Is this still true?! Internet Explorer hasn't been supported by Microsoft since 2016.

Your references to good reviews are also very old.
