What are people saying about MissingLink Project Management

Lyn Cohen Cool app! How many computers can one license be used on? A desktop & laptop perhaps?

Kevin Moore Hi Lyn,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm happy to hear that you like the application.

Originally I intended for MissingLink to be used on a single PC but I can appreciate that it doesn't make sense to buy a second license for a laptop if that laptop happens to be your travelling companion.

I am going to have to revisit the licensing strategy because your comment has merit but at this point I am not sure how to implement your changes. If you care to drop me a line at Kevin@MissingLinkProjectCenter, I can keep you updated when the licensing charges are complete.

Wm Shore Mr. Moore, your answer isn't really an answer, just an evasion. Everyone I know has a laptop and a desktop, if the program license doesn't cover both it just fails to deal with reality and people won't purchase your otherwise laudable software.

Steve P Microsoft licenses include one desktop and one notebook, as do most other well known software applications.

Kevin Moore WM Shore,

Here is the qualification that I will be amending the license agreement to read,

Each license allows the use of this software on a single computer at a time. You may install the software on additional computers, but the software may not be in use on more than one computer at a time unless you purchase multiple licenses. You may make back-up copies of the software for archival purposes.

Kevin Moore S Meyer,

The files referred to in the application can be email attachments or they can be any other file you have on your PC. The files can be deleted from email after you have added them to MissingLink.

You can also add the external files in your My Documents to MissingLink.

I am working on adding the Task and Calendar entries to MissingLink

Phil H You are clearly solving a problem that many of us face, and it does look like it could be very useful. I also like the interface.

However, one of the key determinants of whether it makes me more productive or not is the ease (# of steps, time it takes, etc.) to move items (contacts, files, etc.) into a project folder.

The screenshot suggests for Contacts suggests that contacts must be added manually. Is that correct, or is there an automated/easier way to add/link to contacts, folders, files, etc.? At a minimum, I would expect this to be drag-and-drop.

Also, what happens if one moves a file (as is often the case in an on-going project). Does Project Center automatically update the location?

Pls answer as clearly as possible. If moving items in is reasonably easy I'll be sure to adopt. This would be very useful for managing projects.

Paul V Two questions;

1) Can the data file(s) be relocated to a shared location i.e. a home server?

2) Can two users access the same data file(s) in a shared enviroment?

3) Just a comment; tracking tasks and calendar entries is a critcal aspect of project managment.

Kevin Moore Phil,

Thank you for your feedback. To answer your question, Contacts or Emails don't have to be added manually. If you select the Contacts that you would like to add to a project in your Contact View and then press the "Add To MissingLink" button you should be prompted with a window to select the project. MissingLink will then add each invididual contact or email to the selected project.

The files are physically stored within MissingLink, we do not store a link to the file. If you need the file you Get it from MissingLink and store it temporarily on your PC for writing. You can then Add the version you have changed back to MissingLInk.

You can move files within MissingLink easily and you don't need to worry about where the file is stored on your PC.

If that isn't clear, drop me a note at KevinMissingLinkProjectCenter.com

Kevin Moore Paul,

1, The data file that MissingLink uses is stored on your local PC and cannot be stored on a Shared Location. I do appreciate that is a great idea and I will look at adding that functionality.
2. Two users cannot access the same data file. Currently everything is local to individual users.
3. I am working on adding tasks and calendar entries as I recognize that is critical.

Thanks,

Kevin
